Boxing's pretty good. Get some grappling in there and you'll be set for nearly any encounter. BJJ, Judo or some branch of wrestling.

yeah, you'd be surprised how much of an advantage you have just by knowing how to throw a punch

Boxing's okay. If you want real self-defense with a body count, practice this: archive.org/details/GetToughCapt.W.E.Fairbairn

obviously not experienced but just the couple kickboxing classes I started taking at a local MMA gym has definitely changed my view of fighting. Gives you a great edge over cocky randos just tryna brawl

It contains one of the key aspects of self defense which most martial arts don't teach, footwork.

The other most important thing it teaches is how to punch and defend from a punch.

It's an excellent martial art for fitness and self defense, just know that it isn't a complete martial art but it teaches what it does really well.

Once you become decent at boxing, I suggest learning a grappling art with groundfighting like wrestling or bjj to become a complete fighter.

boxing is the most efficient and practical striking art don't let mma niggers tell you otherwise.

yes, and don't let the muh takedown faggots demoralise you

This

god I wish that were me

American Kenpo. Hard to find schools but its legit.

>kenpo being recognized

what's the mark of a good muay thai gym? i'm in australia, so the culture is likely very different to the US. there's one in in my city with very good reviews and a small roster of competitive fighters, but their website places a lot of emphasis on the weight loss and fitness aspects of the sport

fuck martial arts. if it comes down to it ill just bite somebody's fucking face and or cock off. Never forget about nutshots bros, kick a mother fucker as hard as you can right in the nuts. works every time and they never expect it.

what if they adopt a sideways stance

Boxing is great and you will beat up most people with jt but muay thai will offer more tools.

Also never pick a fight with a wrestler. Ever.

Easier said than done.

If someone secures a double leg takedown on you, he will basically pin you and have almost total control to punch and smash you even if you want to "play dirty"

Classic Muay Thai literally kick fucking trees till their shins grow stronger

This doing a fighting sport to help fights irl is bullshit. Doesnt a knife beat every fighting sport? If you are worried about getting into a fight because your neighborhood is dangerous just carry a knife. There will be no fair fights irl I will promise you that. Most fight are on concrete so either you will knock someone out and they will hit the floor with their head and get massive dmg or even die and you will be in cuffs with a record or its the other way around and a nigger repeatedly kicks your head in after you are already passed out giving you major brain damage. There is nothing to gain by fighting unless you absolutely have to (like saving your friend/family).

>that hair
>white

How about the way of bruce lee? Just learning some things here and there, train your body like a motherfucker, be a self taught and punch shit

Yes and know, if you are against a guy who knows how to use a knife and are 5 feet away from him then you’ll still get cut no matter what. But if the guy doesn’t know how to use a knife then he’s fucked even by an amateur grappler

>footwork
Just dance bro

Here's the true martial arts redpill: it doesnt really matter what you do as long as it involves ACTUAL fighting for practice. If you're not getting punched/kicked around by other people, you're not learning how to fight.
Muay thai, boxing, kyokushin, are all effective but only if you're actually getting bruised and learning how to take hits.

>kenpo
>krav maga
Into the trash it goes

For female boxers its literally this type of hair or the lesbo buzz cut.

>mfw I live in bahia brazil

If I did this to you, would you die?

It would be extremely painful

It would hurt a large amount of pain.

big hurt

we have this thread about 3 times a week lately, everyone agrees that the most efficient base of martial arts is BJJ + Muay Thai.

branching out further would probalby by karate/taekwondo/kickboxing

why would anyone support your lift anyway ? this only works in american cringe tv

he'll literally tense up his body and hold you around your neck to support the lift

unironically, I pick up dancing really fast. Still a beginner boxer but I learnt the drills easily.

I'm an absolute knob at ball sports and team sports, but anything involving martial arts, dance and rhythm I am good at.

What if i dont want to kick

I would say kyokushin is not a bad striking base either. The real guys do an astonishing amount of conditioning. I've never done it but it produces very hardy fighters who can really take abuse and I respect it.

Lol so US army combatives?

>bjj + muay thai
>not bjj + lethwei for those epic headbutts

>boxing
>s-tier

For you

t.nevertrained

Then I’ll kick you.
And you’ll lose.

Boxing + wrestling/bjj

Kickboxing is literally boxing only you learn how to use your legs to cause damage. What the fuck is this?

I think the problem isn't the effectiveness of the sport but how good a quality gym/trainer you can get. Boxing is top tier simply because of its effectiveness AND the amount of trainers and gyms across America. I doubt you'd find half as many serious kickboxing gyms and trainers in America as you'd find serious boxing gyms and trainers.

From the thumbnail I thought this was going to be an Angie thread. Disappointing.

you'll rarely have enough space to throw proper kicks in a street fight. you won't have proper ground for it too.

boxing's good because it's minimalist. you can "win" a street fight just with simple head movement and distance control.

wouldn't it be weird if she used your scrotum like a speedbag?

it would be, but wouldn't it be weirder if your sister was watching too? haha

Boxing is great, but learn to grapple or you’ll get destroyed by someone who knows how to fight. I studied boxing, sambo, wing chun (and some other wushu), judo, and jiu jitsu but I found sambo and jiu jitsu to be the most useful outside of boxing.

I dunno man, some of those Muay Thai low kicks are devastating and can be thrown without that much space. If you haven't been conditioned for that kind of abuse in your thighs all it takes is one decent shot and you're on the ground.

Also you almost never have to fight in real life and generally don’t want to fight outside of a regulated match because of liability and just being an adult. There are ton of situations that could end in a fight, but talking people down is far more effective. That being said it’s nice to know how to defend yourself in general in case some mongol doesn’t like words.

Kicks are generally ineffective in a street fight, but he’s right we’ll trained low kicks are devastating

The guide assumes you're the only one whos actually trained in anything and your opponent is just some drunk guy who might've won a few fights just because he gets in fights and doesn't really know much about what he's doing, not that you're fighting someone also well trained and in a discipline that shuts yours down in a lot of ways

Boxing has been designed to knock people out in the fastest, most efficient manner because there are millions of dollars on the line for who knocks out who. That's all you need to know in terms of its legitimacy.

If its no contact its not worth your time.

This sucks fucking ass

He didn't fly so good

How do you find a martial arts gym that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? All the gyms near me are $100+ a month and I'm not ready to commit that level of cash to something I've never done before.

I would learn wrestling or grappling for self defense. If your goal is self defense in a non regulated scenario your real goal is to get close to the threat and stall until it's broken up 90% of the time. Boxing is too high risk high reward because even scoring a knockout can end in an assault charge or worse. You really don't want to be having people fall onto their heads on hard surfaces after you've hit them.
