Fell for the SS meme

>fell for the SS meme

Everyone keeps saying this, yet nobody provides an alternative. If SS is a bad program, what should I do instead?

Wasn't there a fork of SS on the sticky

Bruh this particular woman is really good.

It's not a bad program for beginners.
Also, thank you for posting a non-thot girl.

I've heard more criticisms than praise directed towards SS. I understand that it might build strength but the results (a lot of fat, terrible aesthetics) don't seem to convince a lot of people.

yes, but the program itself is solid and a much better alternative to SS

Yes stronglifts. It is SS with 3x5 replaced by 5x5. SS becomes a meme if you do it for too long. It is not particularly balanced. One of the problems is that it trains your lower body more than your upper body. Eventually this leads in having relative small arms to your legs (T-Rex mode).
However it is a good first program, so don't worry. Just switch after 6 months of doing it to an intermediate program.

Don't feel bad about it. Every ideal has his beauty

It’s because it makes you look like shit because you’re pretty much only doing compound lifts. If you to look good and you’re starting out, just do cicada PPL or some kind of split. No one cares about your stats in the gym, they only care about how juicy you look.

Not as good as the men though
Women get btfo in all phsyical and mental competitions

It's basically the same thing. 3x5 on compounds slightly different arrangement.

Stronglifts is a joke created by a fraudulent twink. Don't get me started.

Hey yeah those are the problems I read about it. The intermediate programme seems pretty similar (This is the TExas method).

Good for beginners, hence the "Starting" in "Starting Strenght". Keep at if for like 6 months, then switch to some other program.

And if you read the book, it says that you ARE allowed to add more upper body work.

SS is a great beginner program if you read the book. A lot of people hear of the plan on this board, but don't bother reading the book and:
>A: have unrealistic expectations
>B: misunderstand its purpose
>C: do something completely wrong because they did the program off a chart and not the actual book
The program is for the first 3-6 months of lifting. It is literally for everyone except advanced lifters. Young and old, male and female, thick and thin. GOMAD is not a lifestyle, but rather a no-excuse method for skinny people who claim they can't gain weight.

It depends on the goals, like everything. You don't need SS to start lifting. You can start easy with cardio and PPL.
Now, if you want to get a nice strong foundation (meaning, not bodybuilding-oriented), I believe it's a great program. Then you can switch to other ones.

Like what exactly? I'm squatting 120kg (for reps) at the moment and I'm more interested in physique than lifting more at this stage.

>but the results (a lot of fat, terrible aesthetics) don't seem to convince a lot of people
People who don't try weightlifting programs because they think it will transform them into some kind of freak overnight must be some of the dumbest people on Earth.
>a lot of fat
The only way SS could be responsible for making you fat is if you do GOMAD, which isn't for everyone.

Polgar? She's a literal experiment m8

Unironically ice cream fitness.

Stronglifts

Switch to MadCow 5x5. A bit boring but it is more to focus into building IMO.

thats not her.

SS worked for me and I'm very symmetric, so I'm going to be moving onto starting the Texas Method tomorrow.

My mistake
Who is she?

What are your lifts now?

I M CHECKMATE HHHGNGNNNNNNNNNNN

Well, it only become problematic as you keep going after half a year. Book is good, I bought it. It learned me to think in different ways about training in general.
I am now doing 5/3/1, which I like because it is actually a family of programs. You can adjust 5/3/1 to your needs. And it is still fairly simple (albeit not as simple as SS).

you are welcome

Seconding the greyskull LP. Easy to find a pdf version, simple program that can be followed much longer than SS, good blend of strength and hypertrophy. I’m a recovering lard elemental but had good results with this a few years ago.

Looks good. I like that it's squat twice, deadlift once, and that the last set is 5+ reps. I think a couple of small changes to SS to something like this is a huge improvement.

What’s with that face? Is that the upperclass-white-jewish-girl-who-calls-other-girls-sluts-but-mostly-wishes-she-would-get-laid-more face?

Arnold Split, Module45, PPL whatever

This is for building strength though, right? What if i'm intermediate and want to build a lot of muscle?

Try many exercise.

Do whichever ones you can do that work out the portion of muscles you are interested in to meet your goals (strength, endurance, aesthetics, etc).

Miss of heavy(strength) training and lighter (hypertrophy).

People like to make memes and routines and shit...its not that complicated.

5/3/1

Although honestly as a beginner it doesn't matter, noob gains will happen on any non-retarded program, consistency and actually lifting is what matters.

Just do whatever the fuck you can do to get DOMS and/or know that you are getting stronger.

Dont get stuck to bullshit equipment and machines and programs.

I have a 40lb rubber coated fixed bar (bought it so wife could do squats, curls, presses, etc with it).

On sundays (lazy home days), I exercise by swinging the bar around to get core and upperbody exercise.
Just now found that this is a legit strength training method: artofmanliness.com/articles/train-like-an-ancient-hindu-warrior-the-steel-mace-workout/

Just do whatever you need to keep gainz coming.
Test your muscles in new and challenging ways.

Just powerbuild. One of the big 4 every day, with related accessories. My day:
>worked up to 6x155 the Press (one extra rep just cuz)
>4x8 incline press
>3x12 flyes
>3x10 cable tri pushdowns
>2x15 db Arnold press
Tomorrow will be something like
>5x285 back squat
>4x8 front squat
>3x12 leg ext
>3x12 leg curl
>3x15 calf raise
>3x20 leg press
>3x12-15 back ext
>3x12-15 hanging leg raise

Why post routine without posting body?

Sort of.

Attached: I dont know Im just a woman.jpg (783x629, 119K)

I did post body

>not doing curls every session
If you are short I guess this is ok, but for lanky dudes, you need to work arms atleast 3x a week

if you read the book, starting strength is not actually a routine. The book only teaches you how to do the lifts and a little bit about physiology/anatomy. They put in a picture of an example routine though in the book

The only reason people say its a bad program is because they were too stupid to realize that a strength routine and hypertrophy routine are not the same thing. They will tell you to do a hypertrophy routine and compare those to SS as if SS was a hypertrophy routine.

>not wanting this

Attached: 1567102737154.jpg (761x777, 87K)

>5 reps
Why do people still do this?

This. There's like 5 example routines and two chapters on assistance lifts. There's a reason every beginner routine looks the same.

nsuns strength + looks
