What's upsetting you Pierre?

Why?

Because a guy fighting for environment near my home just got his hand blew up by the police.
Maybe this sounds normal if you live in the US but here it's not supposed to happen, especially not when you're fighting for the environment

Damn, that sounds tough. Always thought the police in France weren't that brutal.

oof

Holy shit, thats fucking disturbing
Hopefully that guy gets the justice he needs against the police

A day without blood is like a day without sunshine

you know when it's about politics, they never mind hurting people :x
They are using GLI-F4 grenadas against civils, they are supposed to blow in the air but it blew in a guy's hand (it has 30 grams of tnt in it iirc, it makes 20cm holes in the ground and eject dirt everywhere, kinda like small bombs from ww1).
A few policemen did get hurt because of a bad throw of the same weapon few wekks ago, but "hey that's cool let's use it against ecological activists" :x

Ehh.. well environmentalists get pegged for terrorism in the US a lot. Again don't be surprised as the world becomes more authoritarian.

lole

I just remember the violent protests in Paris during the last elections. People were literally throwing Molotov cocktails at the police and all they did in response was take cover behind the riot shields and throw tear gas occasionally.

This
Crybabies can fuck off, the police are being attacked all the time by violent protestors

I guess you saw those images through "mainstream" medias :x
Only a few molotovs are used, but the police use grenadas and charge a lot actually, but it's never showed in the medias. The last time there was a protest in Paris, over 100 people were arrested, sometimes just for being there, and we usually have people with broken legs because they were beaten by policemen

I know the world gets more authoritarian when people make physical actions, but that's not how it should work. If politicians listened to people to begin with, no one would have to use "violent" forms of actions right?

yeah but that's police work. They signed for this, knew about this when applying to the job and they can quit whenever they want.
On the opposite, when you protest for your rights, especially when you're not doing anything illegal, it's not normal as a civil to get hurt in any way.

Well, if it was just an environment activist, he surely didn't deserve such a violent response.
Yeah, guess I saw it through the mainstream media somewhere on the news. We have it pretty much the same in Russia, but more people get arrested and less people get injured (since they are afraid to actually attack the police, so all the police have to do is just grab them and shove into their cars).

You're right, it is their job to keep protesters from causing havoc, and envioremental issues has nothing to do with people's rights.

the problem is that they have huge files with every person who ever got in a protest, their political opinions, their face, sometimes their prints, social networks...
Here they have several helicopters in each city just to take photos of protesters and see who was here, who wasnt,...
And with the new "anti-terrorist" laws they can break into your home whenever they want based on simple suspicions, they can preclude you from going into a whole part of the country for years just because you were arrested at a protest (and most of the arrested people didnt do anything illegal)

I really don't like what our country is turning into under this neo-liberalism government :x

This really reminds me 1984. Never realized things were that bad in France. Any hope for a change?

sadly we will have the same president for the next 4 years, I just hope it wont get too bad until then.
Honestly I don't care if the next govenment is left or right, but please I don't want liberalism ever again it sucks so much :x
It's only liberal for the markets, there aren't more jobs and they are turning normal jobs into precarious ones.
Plus they sell companies that our state owned to other countries, so now when we need to, for example, change parts of nuclear centrals we have to pay extras because we literally sold the company that was creating them (and it was the only company owning the plans) xD

Sorry my english is limited I don't know if I'm clear + I'm going way too pmpolitical for Jow Forums, I might stop there

No, your English is fine, you are being perfectly clear. If its really as bad as you claim, I really wish you managed to find a way to recover from all of this. After all, the French have quite an experience when it comes to fixing their country. I would hate to see France get ruined and its culture disappear.

Is liberal on the political left or the political right?

(American politics have really mixed up the terms, and from what I understand, it differs in connotation from country to country)

People get hurt when they fight. That's what fighting is.

it can be either left or right, but is usually pretty centrist.
When we say "right" or "left" we usually are talking about social politics, and liberalism is only about the economics.
However, it's not compatible with the "extreme" sides (both right and left) of the political spectrum because those sides are usually protectionnists, which means they are against globalization (i don't know what this term means exactly in english, but here in France it means that all the countries get an uniformisation of both their culture, laws and politics. We call it "Americanisation" here too).
Our next government, even if they called themselves "socialists", were actually liberal left. Socially tending to left ideas, they still worked for the economic liberalism. The government we have is no longer left like the old one, it's only intense liberalism

However, to answer you question, I would tend to say that the liberalism is more right political, since in its ideas, you make the markets free of any law and they are supposed to "regulate themselves".
Which means the markets basically rules everything else. Even if you consider that it wouldn't cause social problems, the workers' labor forces still get alienated, which is genuinely right-side, but this part is mostly my point of view

Sorry again for talking about politics on Jow Forums, but it's not like Jow Forums is a good place to do it anyways o/

thought that the word uniformisation existed in english but apparently not, it means standardization

and I wanted to say "previous" not "next government" I should really read before posting o/
