How is that home gym coming along Jow Forums?
How is that home gym coming along Jow Forums?
I'm moving from Ohio to NYC, so I had to sell mine. It was fun while it lasted though.
Building one from scratch. Not wasting money on commercial systems. When most of the equipment is done I'll make a thread with pics.
I live in my mom's basement
don't let that stop you. i live in my dad's basement and i have a power cage with a bench
I just go in craigslist and buy cheap weights. I'm looking for a squat rack under 250 right now.
I am obsessed with building my own. Currently house shopping. I can’t wait. I know exactly what I want.
It's not much. But it's enough. Better than planet fitness. Got the bench, bar and the 4 cast iron 25lbs weight from my uncle for $150.
Mom's basement/10
Why no safety bar? Who spots you at your house?
Just don't do the next rep when you feel like failing
Lucky, I only have a room to myself. Still if I'm going to pay rent to some Jew it may as well be my mom
post body
>asks to post body without posting his own
Faggot. Keep asking your mommy to spot you. Mommy mommy waaaah! I need a spotter mommy! You can just lower the weight and do more reps instead. Retarded ego lifter.
seething holy shit
Based weakling
> standard barbell
ask me how I know you're DYEL
Samefag nigger
Olympic barbells don't give you any advantage. Why should he get an Olympic barbell if he didn't use the standard barbell to its limits (which is usually 160kg).
> deadlift under 160kg
I planned on buying some when the weights got heavier. So I will soon.
Right now I'm nothing much. Been lifting since March. But only 4ish weeks ago got enough free weights to actually start lifting. I used to be much skinnier with the cross country body

shave that disgusting thing off your face
mgonna buy this rack and im done with my 3rd world gym
Maybe in a few months. I need to shave the side so the beards narrower. But everyone I meet irl loves the curly moustache.
I never realized how easy it could be to have a home gym until I walked into Academy to buy a $40 gym bag, and all the gear for one was in the same section.
Is a barbell, cage/rack, bench, and dumbbells really all you need?
Yes.
can you do bench press in that???
You need weights too
I set myself up a nice comfy home gym in the shed in my backyard. I go back home sometimes to get water mid-workout and get mires from my mom.
Most dumbbell exercises can be replaced with barbell alternative. Pull-up/chinup bar is more important
Looking grood, bro, but yeah, lose the stache.
>yes I post on /fit how could you tell?
its good, haven't added anything recently except a safety squat bar (good purchase desu)
beautiful
Sorry but home gyms are for incels.
Gym is suposed to be a social place where you meet qts and lift with your boys
my gym is 2 posts up. I have a wife and children and my bros come over to lift with me :3
You lift with that Viking helmet, right?
>wall mounting that much weight
shiggity
Shooottt id post pics but I’m at work rn
I have a bench, bike, and currently making designs to build my own rope pully
Dude don’t post pics with your face man. You’ll leave yourself open to doxing
only for very important sets
>this guy posts on a fitness forum!!!!
You really don't need a safety bar.
Not enough time user, and besides, when I do have time I can just go straight to my home gym in less than 3 seconds. It beats a thirty minute drive into town
My friend posted his face here and got harassed by some incel who didn’t like him. It went as far as the guy finding out his phone number and having randos call him making death threats
getting this today or tomorrow. Gonna start doing SS now but don't really know what weight I should start at
I know the dangers. Still a risk but better than doing on like /b/ or whatnot. I don't have much out there anyway for people to find. I don't think someone would go through the effort, as naive as that sounds.
Just be safe is all I’m sayin. Just put a few lines through your face nose and up.
>I’m only here to help user
that sucks. guess one just has to be friendly and likeable so you don't get harassed
Start low and add 5lbs each workout. Begin by adding weight till just just barely have to make effort to lift it and go from there. Or just start at the bar if you've never lifted before
He showed me the post, the one guy called him a faggot for wearing a shirt with a military logo on it so my buddy fired back with the usual “kys nigger”
Either way, don’t post face pics man
Missing it right now, hurrigains goblin fucking me.

Appreciate the thought, bud. Not in a condescending way.
Complete for now.
Ive never lifted with a barball but i use 30 lb dumbbells right now. But i've heard a lot of people saying to start with just the bar so Ill probably do that.
very nice setup! i wish i could fully finish the ceiling + walls in my gym, sadly there's too much piping and shit to box around and I'd lose important square footage
sup fellow swis bro. surprised to see another swiss lifter here. you in any lifting clubs?
this board is pathetic
Unfortunately I am not Swiss, but I have been to Switzerland as that is where my grandparents are from (they immigrated from a village near Bern).
Nice gym- are there many lifting clubs in Switzerland?
imagine not wanting the social gains added aswell as your muscular and strength gains. imagine buying and storing heavy, expensive equipment when you can rent even better stuff cheap at your local gym. imagine sitting at home staring into to the walls between sets instead of the testboosting enviroment of a good gym.

>are there many lifting clubs in Switzerland?
Not many no. Lifting isn't big here which is why I was surprised. Also was surprised by how big yoru gym was for a swiss home gym so makes sense. People are sportive here but its usually like hiking and jogging and a lot a lot a lot of biking; basically cardio.
>social gains of putting in headphones and occasionally mumbling at someone if you can work in
based. thanks for your contribution to this thread dyel
But you can unironically get a better workout at PF than with what you have.
I don't want to use the Smith machines for squats and benches anymore. I do miss the cable row machine and the face pulls. But I manage with what I have so far.
Additionally it saves me a 5 minute drive there and back and no waiting for machines.
Bretty good
Iron your flag, otherwise very nice
kitties!
I'd be too worried about hitting the wall for some reason in here
my favorite itt. Perfectly simple
THE GUILLOTINE
>I'd be too worried about hitting the wall for some reason in here
you must have really bad form then. You break your back before hitting the wall.
POST HOME GYM
Thaaaaaaaank you hungry skeleton
>Gym is suposed to be a social place
No.
kind looks like a rape dungeon
Also have more weights and stuff in other room (rubber mats for dls, bumpers, more shoes for squats, bumpers, rings, adjustable dbs and non oly weights.
Gonna add one more power bar and high and low cable pulley.
>cap hex dumbbells with rubber instead of polyurethane
Any of you guys do this in an apartment? I have an oversized bedroom and I live above the laundry room.
This is the body of a man who doesn't do a rep if he thinks he will fail.
>How is that home gym coming along Jow Forums?
Anyone know where I can get really cheap 20kg (or 25 or 45) plates? Running out of space on the barbell now for 10kg plates.
Craigslist
Perfect
it isnt
I'm in Scotland (full of wannabe jews) so I guarantee that I'm going to go on there and it's the same prices as Amazon. Thanks anyway man, I'm off to check now.
but isn't the bar already like 20 kg?
I havent failed any reps so far. Im only doing a meager
120
so far.
Im still weak as shit compared to others, but rome wasn't built in a day. Im overhauling my body from the skinny fat cross country runner i was in high school. was doing low 16 minute 5ks and sub 5 minute miles. but i want muscles now.
Start with the bar and add weight until your form breaks down. That's what the book says. You did read the book right?
envy as fuck swissbro
Have a basement in the Carolinas and realyl really want one cause tons of room but it FUCKING FLOODS when it rains heavily and I don't know how to fix it. It's only 1-3'' of water but I'm not buying a $1200 worth of gym gear to get water all over it
Stronglifts 5x5. Download the app and start low. Don't worry about starting low, the first weeks are so you can perfect your form.
so perfect, kinda like american psycho
>Counting the bar
No problem with it besides having to stack weights to get to the same weight as the Olympic bar.
The Homegym Checklist™
* Get your plates from Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace/etc. Iron plates should never be more than $1/lb. Bumper plates vary depending on style and brand (ex: Uesaka competition-calibrated vs Rogue HiTemps). Most people won't need bumpers at all unless they're dropping the bar from shoulder-height, so consider if it's something you actually want/need. Plates in general will likely be the most expensive part of your homegym, can easily surpass $2k for quality plates.
* Texas Bar and Ohio Bar are among the most common standard barbells. Olympic bars can get near the $1k range, so another case of "only if you're into it". If you're hunting on Craigslist/etc, be wary of the difference between standard and Olympic sizing. Standard plates/bars are 1" in diameter, Olympic is 2", most of what you'll want is Olympic-sized. Knurling is mostly personal preference, if you haven't already check out all the bars at your retail gym to get an idea for what works for you. Cerakote coating will be necessary if you're working outdoors regularly, otherwise is personal preference for feel.
* If you're doing the Big 3 lifts, go all in on a power rack. The most commonly recommended ones are the Rogue RML line and Titan X-3/T-3 lines. Some of these need to be bolted to the floor, so do your research. This will be the most expensive part of your gym, as well as the visual staple.
* Flooring is pretty straightforward. The cheap route is to buy rubber horse mats from your local tractor supply, they'll be thick enough to handle most wear and tear. I personally like the feel of epoxy, but requires a little more love and time to set up properly. It's also pretty easy to build your own deadlift platform.
* Adjustable dumbbells are hit-or-miss. Personally they look ugly as sin but they can be significantly less expensive than a full iron set of dumbbells at every increment. If you can play around with both to see what works for you.
* Ultimately, buy things that you'll use.
>Olympic is 2"
You mean 50 mm.
Dumbells, especially non-plateloaded ones, are just money sinks. You use them at the gym but they're not essential at all.
I thought the same thing
Don’t fly to close to the sun champ
I’ve made did with worse, user. Fuck the haters
