we all know SUGAR is the devil and should never be eaten(as I don't).
But what about his twin, the SALT? Is it good or bad? What are the pros and cons of eating salt from a bodybuilder perspective, how much should I eat a day? REDPILL ME ON SALT

It's food for plants, not for humans
You'll die without it because your muscles would not be able to contract.
You can exceed your (((recommended values))) of sodium intake and you can easily counter it by literally drinking more.
It's actually good for you in appropriate doses. It's an electrolyte. Sprinkle a little bit on most foods, just to taste, and you will never go wrong.
Problem is most (Americans at least) dump that shit on everything, especially fries. And of course like most things, the more you use, the more desensitized you are.
I've done this a few times: if your taste buds are telling you to put more salt, even though you've put your normal amount, just go completely salt-less for 2-3 weeks or so. It'll be bland but it resets your palette and you will then taste it fully again with a small amount. This happens to me maybe once a year.
Stan Efferding recommends it to all his athletes. It was also given to him in a powerlifting meet by Mark Bell when his muscles were cramping and it fixed them. I'm no biologist but I believe salt helps with hydration and the electrolytes are necessary to deliver water to muscle cells.
Yes, technically, but you won't die by not putting extra table salt on food. Almost all food contains salt naturally. You might get a deficiency if you don't eat salt-rich foods though.
and that's why i drink saline instead of water
>Almost all food contains salt naturally.
Is this also true for non-processed foods? Except for seafood, of course.
As other anons pointed out, moderate salt is essential for any arduous labour.
Its why India had an insurrection against the British, the tax on salt made it impossible for Indias poor to work
big brain post
Yes, nearly everything you can eat has some level of salt. Everything that's alive needs some salt, all the way down
to bacteria. It's a required nutrient for life.
Salt's fine but don't overdo it or you'll retain more water and look more jiggly
Lmao. When you're salt deficient salt tastes stronger.
Your logic is flawed. You're living in a perpetually electrolyte depleted condition.
It raises my blood pressure, so I try to eliminate or minimize it when possbile. You get more than enough sodium with the food you consume no matter how "healthy" you eat
its deadly delicious
How do you know it raises blood pressure?
Like, do you feel it? Which symptoms?
Salt is needed for the body. Well sodium.
Pickle juice is good. Also the army makes you drink rehydration salts and/or drip drop when you’re doing lots of physical activity or in extreme hot environment
we all know SALT is the devil and should never be eaten(as I don't).
Shove a spoonfull in your mouth and tell me more about how delicious it is brainlet
it's a seasoning not a meal tho???
Been there, done that. Extreme stomach pains from eating too much metwurst and after that extreme kidney pain. Literally just drinking water and vomiting fixed it.
By eating too much of the same elctrolyte, you can also cause deficiencies.
Irregular heartbeat, chest pain, dizziness, loss of balance, a general feeling of shittines to everything. I have a device to test it and went from an average fit for a 60yo to numbers worthy of an athlete in a week by just cutting salt
It's very harmful to not get enough salt but not a very big deal if you eat too much, unless you eat way too much of it. Most of the excess you'll just piss away basically. Our bodies can regulate salt surprisingly well. Salt has been wrongfully demonized along with fat for decades.
you shouldn't be worried about your sodium intake unless you have high blood pressure or the doctor told you to be worried about it
excessive salt causes high blood pressure, the biggest marker for premature death is a systolic(the top numer) blood pressure of higher than 115
Get your shit checked lads, BP monitors are like $20 on amazon, hypertension is called "the silent killer" for a reason
>115
That's pushing low blood pressure, 120 -130 is optimal
