Actually did for me

Sumo deads and front squats fixed my chronic lower back issues that had been plagueing me for >2 years.
>tfw conventional deadlifted 405x3 for the first time ever a few weeks ago

Attached: IMG_5296.jpg (413x479, 26K)

I am sure I have a herniated disc, I can do deadlifts and squats but a power clean took my back out and I couildn't walk for 5 days with excrutiating pain, never gonna make it

Based
But also based

>been doing deadlifts since i started lifting 3 months ago
>back pain went away
>suddenly went back few days ago and its been 3 days i still have it

Is this just coincidental i thought it rly fixed my back pain

Try front squatting and sumo deadlifting exclusively. No back squats or conventional deads or olympic shit. I trained that way for a few months and it was magic for my back

Front squatting and sumo lifts focus on the upper back and quads, while conventional deadlifts work the butt, hips and lower back, no?

Right, but at least for me, reducing the sheer force on my spine by doing the more upright front squat and sumo lifts helped my back recover. I'm not sure what was actually wrong with it though other than it was fucked for a couple years

>unfucks your back from excessive deadlifting

What was your injury? See, I'm scared of doing anything that puts stress on my lower back even though I can squat, just in certain positions like sitting on the toilets, the tips of my fingers AND my toes go numb...

Not sure; i borked my back deadlifting and then reinjured it with suboptimal form while cutting. But front squats always felt better and sumo puts substantially less sheer stress on that part of your body. Try it at lighter weights and see how your lower back holds up. I'd also recommend a good belt

>just in certain positions like sitting on the toilets, the tips of my fingers AND my toes go numb...
Your fingers going numb is weird. I have the same issue with my feet and legs if I sit on the toilet too long. Apparently that can be caused by keeping your wallet in your back pocket and sitting on it for too long, does something to the nerves they reckon. But if you're also feeling it in your fingers, I'd be quite concerned.

decompress your spine

Total beginner and ive reached around 70kg on my dl already. Its not a lot yes but shit im super scared of going up more weight cause im paranoid to get injury. Same with any lifts. Can i stop increasing weights and start from a light weight again but this time, more reps? Will i still get bit?

True. Deadlifts are good for your back.

Listening to Rip and squatting lowbar ass-to-grass, that cripples you.

How do i do that?

Pull-ups eveyday

What's the difference between these and normal hypers?

>low-bar ass to grass
Deoth on a low-bar squat is parallel, due to the nature of training the hamstrings at full contraction; ATG is reserved for high-bar/front squats (and on that note, any depth higher than is allowed by the maximally closed knee angle for those two is an incomplete squat)

Listening to Uncle Rip cured my back pain.

traction vs compression

Herniated disc can be recovered from. Legit need 3 months w no low back stress at all, then 9 more months of being a baby and slowly adding in stuff. You can still make it, you just lost a year for squats and deadlifts.

I'm 9 months out from horrific herniated disc, life is back to normal and I'm slowly working front squats back into my routine

yeah putting the weight down and stopping will do that

Uncle rip thinks you should lift through herniated disc nerve pain. Which is actually retarded and can lead to serious life long injuries

I had recurring back pain for years after an injury on a trampoline and after a few months of deadlifting it hasn't come back

dead hangs. Also when you release your breathe do so slowly for max decompression effect

here
I thought I read somewhere that he said go ATG.

He does not say go ATG.

WOOOOOOOOOOO SNAP CITY HERE I COME

On an anecdotal note, Rippetoe style deadlift cured my lower back pain that was caused by deadlifting hips pretty low as I saw on some YouTube vid. Follow the 5 steps bros.

Can it fix your scoliosis?

Can't injure your back if it's too strong to fold

Probably not even back pain, probably you just being so paranoid you've referenced pain from your glutes and upper back to your lower back

biceps injuries are exponentially more common for deadlifts than back injuries you weak, uneducated retard. post body/lifts. let's see how embarrassing you really are, faggot.

Attached: 1496681833540.jpg (640x640, 55K)

Honestly do every squat and every deadlift you can think of if your back is fucked. Auto regulate and see what works what for your biomechanics.

Based deadlifts.

Attached: 1561659176097.jpg (640x394, 26K)

Best post ITT. Tried this and ended up with trap bar diddlys and zercher squats.

Zerchers look so uncomfortable

>Respect the DL
>Make huge gains and fix your spine
>Disrespect the DL
>It fucking kills you
DL is a based and redpilled lift, the most based and redpilled.
Truly the diving of lifting.

For your arms they are.

would you rather have a bicep injury or a spinal injury. use your brain before writing next time

even with perfect form my lower back always hurts. tips?? even sumo

do alternative exercises. it's not like you have to do deadlifts.

i dunno man i want bigger glutes. i have really long legs and it makes the exercise awkward but everyone online is constantly saying that anyone can do it no matter what body type you are. it makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong but i don't know what else to do at this point, been trying for months to fix all kinds of different issues nothing has helped

>i want bigger glutes
glute bridges

>hip thrusts
>RDL's
>kettlebell swings
>lunges
>split squats
>weighted back extensions

I'm a planetfitfag is doing deadlifts on a smith machine beneficial at all?

Attached: 1564911790162.jpg (784x739, 235K)

This is just bullshit, you won't snap your shit up so bad that it cripples you from having slightly wrong form once. Sure, you might tweak your back but that'll be over before you know it.

>exponentially

my gym doesn't have these.
That is the reason I decided to stop going there and train at home

bench hurts my shoulder
>do db press instead bro
skullcrusher hurts my elbow
>do pushdown instead bro
deadlift hurts my back
>noooo you can not stop deadlifting, it will cure your pain trust me bro!!!

Attached: BYovE4B.png (569x802, 810K)

I'm pretty new myself, started out with a ~50-60 kg deadlift (don't recall exactly, it's somewhere in my notes) and I'm at 125 kg now. You shouldn't be scared if your form is good.

Look at this guy, he didn't snap his shit up from doing whatever the fuck that was. Your body isn't as fragile as you think it is (but obviously don't do what he does, especially not on the regular).

Attached: deadlift2-ns.webm (400x300, 2.05M)

Would propably do stiff legged/romanian deadlift instead

I think you might be thinking of bulging disc. I herniated a disk in my lower back and was legit paralyzed (left leg) until the doc's went in and freed up the nerve.

or this retard

How do I get calves like this? Is this natty?

Attached: 1567560183922.jpg (160x318, 16K)

Start with RDL's to learn the hip hinge correctly. I did weighted back extensions for the first 3 months, switched to RDL's and 3x10 sets were easy with 70kg at 60kg bodyweight. Currently doing trap bar diddlys, might switch to conventional after maybe 2 or so months but with a light weight to see if my technique needs fixing. Most of my friends who have been into powerlifting have hurt their back doing diddlys sooner or later, trying to avoid that.

>Different species explained in this video

Never do oly lifts without a coach you can snap your shit in a minute
At least if you're a beginner

Never gets old

No I was destroyed, MRI confirmed herniation. 4 days no sleep and constant intense pain, at least a month where I couldn't walk to check my mail without a 15 minute lie down after. Didn't leave the house for ~2 months. Couldn't sit or stand that whole time, alternated between lying prone and lying on my back. Cortisone did nothing, my physical therapist told me to stop coming because I made no progress and he couldn't justify billing me

But disc herniations heal on their own, about 1 year to return to normal if you do it right. "Brad and Bob physical therapists" on YouTube fucking saved me, along with absolutely refusing to do anything that would put stress on my discs

Disc strength has nothing to do with back strength, if you buldge a disc against the nerves running next to it, gg

Why take advice from someone who's never even has done the lift he gives advice about?

>deadlift for years
>always work up to like 160kg or so (not loads at all, yeah whatever dont care)
>tweak back to the point that I cant walk or breath properly for like 5 days straight
>slowly goes away
>stop deadlifting for months on end
>start again back to like 90kg
>rinse and repeat
I have literally perfect form and this always happened
>stopped diddlying
>started doing below the knee rack pulls
>most of the same benefits without the risk
>mad gains and pulling 190kg

I THINK that if you have tight hamstrings that is a HUGE factor on whether or not you pull your back, I have tight hamstrings from years of football (soccer for American faggots) and seems to play a big part on pulling down on my lower back / pelvis leading to lower back muscle pulls. Just my thoughts.

Lol just use the belt

The belt does not reduce injury risk in deadlifts. strongerbyscience.com/the-belt-bible/

I don't care what people think about Deadlift-san. I will always lovuru Deaddoliftu-kun, I will always cherish and celebrate him, he is always there, to make me stronger. In bad days, when I'm feeling down, in bad dayd, when I feel negative emotions, Deadliftu-chan selflessly let's me channel these emotions through his cold metallic body, purging them, destroying these feelings. I get stronger every time we meet, not only physically, but also mentally, even spiritually, for meeting with Deddolifto-sama is both an encounter worth celebrating, but also respecting. No need to be fearful, but be reserved. If you treat him well, he will treat you well too. He is pure, he won't give you much to show off, but that's why he is pure, he comes and goes without leaving a trace, but the strength he has gifted you remains, you might not notice much external change, but that's how it goes with Deaddoruliftu-senpai, he is just humble, and also humbles you. There is no reason to hate him, he is always there, eternally waiting for you, in case you need him. He has always been there.

>tfw leg length discrepancy
>constantly causes my left QL to seize up for days on end if I squat with even 5% buttwink
>pain that makes me want someone to hit my lower back with a 2x4
>hamstring stretches followed by heavy deads are literally the only thing that fixes it
>decide i'm well enough to squat again
>immediately fuck it up again, back to square one

I have a very hard time believing that anyone without a preexisting back injury/condition actually injures themselves deadlifting
It's just about the only thing that removes the pain that comes from sitting all day and QL pain

It was on a warm-up rep with just the bar, I'm sure it was a trapped nerve. But yeah I agree. Fuck you Mark

It absolutely does you fucktarded bro science beastiality loving retard.
Compressive forces from the valslaseod sajsb maneuver pressing outwardly on the belt raises the internal pressures around the spine protecting it. Literal hydraulic pressure.
Just stop faggot. No, stop.

It caused mine. Jefferson deadlifts fixed it.
If anyone tells me they're actually squats, their mother will die in her sleep.

What a dumbshit.
He had it. If he would have just brought his hips forward instead of hitching he would have locked out.

Attached: 1519687716816.png (545x486, 158K)

Me too, 6’4 lanklet always had issues with it (some year 11 elbowed me full power in my spine as a year 7, I believe it started there) playing rugby etc. Deadlifts saved me from constant chronic pain.

Why do women prance around like this if they're not doing it for the attention of guys with huge cocks and destroy pussy?

This. Herniated my disc doing wrong form and I am still dealing with sciatica 3 years after

>shows 5 images
>describes 4 of them
what am i missing here

He describes 5
>Quarter
>half
>not quite parallel
>true parallel
>atg

it's kind of confusing, I agree; when separating ideas that have commas themselves, you should separate them with a semicolon instead, making it
>Quarter-squat; Half-squat; a position often confused for parallel, where the undersurface of the thigh is parallel with the ground; Parallel squat according to the criteria established in Figure 2-1; and "Ads-to-grass" squat.

Is it the guy from Shin Megami Tensei?

Buldged, probably. Herniated, unlikely. Get a proper assessment fren.

Not op but that exercise is like a reverse hyperextension. Search for reverse hyper machine

The science doesn't show that. Science shows no reduced injury risk. Did you even read what I linked? Of course not.

>celebrates
Lol wut

I guess it is pretty cool that a skelly broke 7pl8 off the ground

いいえ

Check out his grip, too.

>push myself when doing deadlifts because it's the only way I make progress
>see a tiny, tiny amount of lumbar flexion during the last reps of my last set
>injured
>retards like this catback hitch their way through 6pl8 with literally 0 repercussions
Why is my back such a double nigger?

>leg length discrepancy
>squatting
>deadlifting

Attached: 1496530100852.jpg (729x760, 320K)

i also herniated a disk squatting ATG, and can confirm
this helps a fuck ton. also doing yoga atleast 10min a day completely fixed it, i went from not lifting anything heavier than a computer for 6 months to doing 2 a days in a week of doing yoga.

lol this dude works out at NMSU, or atleast he did. he was an infamous retard. this is the result when you go from DYEL straight onto gear, you end up moving big ass weight with stupid ass form and dumbass programming. just look at this dumb nigger, in less time than it took him to buy those straps on bb.com, he also could've learned that mixed grip defeats the fucking purpose. hopefully he dies in a drunk driving accident soon, i know his friend did.
