Once at a community sports event. We get asked to line up from short to tall. I'm on my way to the shorter end and this absolutely stunning hapa chick gets in my way, points at me, and says "You're short!" while she's a head shorter. That was the eye-opener, I thought it was all Jow Forums memes before that.
Another time I was sitting around on voicecom with my bros playing vidyas when a grill joins. Topic of height somehow comes up, I say I'm 5'10, she goes "omg that's so short!"
Last time I'm minding my own fucking business just walking on the street when a random chick tugs my sleeve, motions for me to pull my earplugs out, then yells "YOU'RE SHORT!" and starts laughing with her friends.
Didn't know how to respond to that, so I took her phone out of her hand and held it up high. She was like 5'3" and none of her friends were above 5'6" so they couldn't reach. Waited for an apology, then gave the phone back.
