Don't run if you're legit obese, you'll obliterate your knees; you're going to want to do HIIT, kettle bells, the rowing machine, the elliptical, and the stairmaster are all your friends.
You're also going to want to lift weights, unless you want to end up looking like a deflated condom. Look up stronglifts 5x5, do the core routine for three months, then add the arm work.

2- OMAD and not a wiff more, 2 to 3 days fasting in between, minimize sugar intake from food and drinks, minimize carbs, diet centers mainly around protein and vegies.
3- This would make me a hypocrite cuz I don't do jack shit socially, but I'd hit any sort of social activity/event, any where you can introduce yourself to people and make friends, from courses at a uni or something to sports or even FB events, anything to widen his social circle.
