Which one and why
HIGH BAR VS LOW BAR
squats gay
High bar + ATG is how the chads do it.
Low bar is for bloatlords and copers, would not recommend.
Low bar, moves more weight and still develops quads nicely
I can only lowbar cuz of shitty ankle mobility. If I do highbar I can only go parallel, maybe one or two degrees deeper so there's no reason not to lowbar since you hit proper depth (hip below knee) much much easier.
Buy squat shoes
Im stiff like a wooden door but I can atg now, high volume squats + squat shoes will give you the mobility
Can anyone else squat more doing high bar? The common theory is that with low bar you can do more weight but as soon as I go higher than 3 plate on low bar I feel like im going to lose it. Can squat 450 high bar.
I did this too, got a pair of Reebok Legacy Lifters and squatting is a joy now. Much more stable and easier to get proper depth on high bar and front squats. I've heard good things about Nike Romaleos as well.
Which one works my glutes more?
I like low-bar but there's nothing wrong with high-bar; they're like a more loadable version of the front squat with very minor tweaks in torso angle due to the relatively small difference in distance
That being said, while there's a reason to just hit parallel for low-bar, anything besides ATG on front/high-bar squats is cope
You will never be a woman.
High bar. Anyone who does low bar is a coping mobilitylet with ankles made of wood.
Based
Trannies BTFO
Low bar glutes
High bar quads
Both. I prefer low bar, but train high bar periodically
>High bar quads
I just do front squats
Whichever one you prefer. People who say it matters are first year lifters.
functionally identical unless youre an oly lifter. do whichever you want
This looks like a squats thread, do I look down or up in a squats, Mark says down nice buff nigger at gym says up to not fuck up you back.
5-6 feet infont of you down on low bar
>olympic weightlifters who have won gold medals
>first year lifters
the reason why mark tells you to look down in the low bar is because it often will result in you leaning forward longer in the ascend, that doesnt mean that it actually will if you are not aware of this cue
high bar is always look straight and up
high bar if you have mobility, low bar if you're fat
Find a gym thot and look at her ass while you squat haha
Did that last time and COOMed in my pants haha so weird, got a PR though haha
It doesn't matter. Not even a little. Pick the one that works for you and don't crusade for it on the internet.
>It doesn't matter. Not even a little.
They're not the same movement. It does matter a little.
If Platz says high bar, it’s high bar.
Front squats
Olympic weightlifters train high bar strictly because of the mobility and crossover to oly lifts you fuckin dunce.
>pussy pad
Discarded
You said people who think it matters are first year lifters. Olympic weightlifters think it matters. So all olympuc weightlifters are first year lifters.
Yeah, it matters that you pick the one that you like more. It doesn't even begin to matter which one it is.
Front squat
There's literally no reason to put that shear stress on your lower back if you're not actively competing in a sport that requires you to back squat.
It only matters to them based on what they train outside of squat. If were talking strictly squatting, it doesnt fucking matter
Someone who trains oly lifting trains for a specific purpose.
Someone who makes a thread asking Jow Forums doesn't because they would know this already and thus it doesn't matter for that person.
So all Olympic weightlifters have only been lifting a year? Dudes who can throw 500 pounds over their head have done it in less than a year?
Quit memeing. I get what you're going for, but saying that it absolutely doesn't matter is bullshit. They're different movements that activate muscles to different extents. It doesn't take a genius to understand that.
Massive Cope
The Golden Eagle is a living legend, you are a loser nobody will ever know of
I'm not fucking with you. I'm telling you that they don't activate your muscles differently enough to matter. If they did then the answer would be to do both, but it's really so insignificant that it's better to just do the one you'll do more and heavier squats with.
>I'm telling you that they don't activate your muscles differently enough to matter
Can you give me a source on that?
I currently squat high bar, but as I'm progressing more and more I feel like my body is naturally pushing me more towards low bar.
I'm a long mother fucker.
high bar
low bar is just a retarded good morning for fags who want to ego lift
>Can squat 450 high bar.
Incredibly based
There a couple very very strong powerlifters who squat high bar, it all comes down to which one suits you better
Newbies should do low bar imo because more times than not they'll lift more weight that way, and when they get stronk like you they decide for real what actually works for them
just means you're probably stronger in your quads than your lower back and hammies, plus just technique differences you're not as used to. the reason you can do more theoretically low bar is because the weight moves less distance and there is greater muscle recruitment to help move that weight, namely the hinging motion in a low bar vs the idea of maintaining an upright posture in a high bar.
>That's a nice argument. Were any academic institutions ever paid to prove it right?
>I have no way to prove anything I'm saying, you just have to believe me.
>Academia is all fake news anyways.
Why did I waste my time with you in the first place?
I lift the most weight with some weird hybrid squat, bar is in low bar position but I'm quite upright. Hit 495lbs/220kg this way
I'm trying to learn low bar low bar but everything feels heavier. Didn't film so I can't tell if I reverted back to hybrid but I could only hit 210kg
it depends
hybrids are fine honestly who cares unless you're competing. you hold it low bar and squat high bar, clarence kennedy holds it high bar and it looks like a low bar, the biggest redpill for me was that asides from just a few key indicators of healthy movement, everyones knees hips and ankles will mean the most comfortable and effective squat will look different for almost everyone, and trying to force certain things just gets you hurt.
do people still pretend that all the knee injuries while low bar squatting is just a coincidence?
you can low bar squat safely for your knees, you just can't do it ATG
You wasted your time with me because you didn't like it when I said that it doesn't matter if the bar is 3% lower or not.
People will go to bat for anything these days.
Is that the bully from the karate kid?
thats my dad
I was having some knee trouble with the hybrid which is why I tried to do low bar.
It's a a more hip loaded squat instead of a more knee loaded squat supposedly
Can you do anything but strawman?
I wasted my time because you refuse to provide any evidence on your shitty broscience claims. And no, "studies fake!" is not an argument.
it is more hip than knee dependant, for all the HIYYUUUUPP DRAAAHHVEEE memes out there it really is true, the primary movers of the low bar squat are your lower back, glutes, hips and hammies. the primary movers of the high bar are predominantly quads, and some hammies. because of the way your hips are positioned in a high bar squat ie more upright, it allows you to hit lower depth without sacrificing hamstring tension at the bottom, which means you can avoid shearing forces on the knee by maintain proper tension. in a low bar squat, the hip position at ass to grass has a tendency to remove that tension and allow a some stuff to move around in your knee, that often results in shearing forces and knee injuries. i'd explain it better but im pretty high right now
Both have their merits but I prefer highbar. It looks better and feels better
I squat a certain way and everyone not doing it like me is a faggot
high bar unless you have shit ankle mobility like me in which case you're stuck with low bar (fuck buying heels for one lift)
SSB master race checking in
On a low bar, rippletits says you should look downwards (a neutral spine) because you looking up might flex something or whatever and you'll but wink or something.
Starting Strength is a really boring read.
Are you fucking retarded?
Finally realized I squat highbar. Fuck low bar.
well there really isnt a massive difference as most people wont really have "textbook form" of each, so its a matter of your anatomy and personal preference
exactly just put the bar on your back and squat it isn't complicated
