So basically i dropped a fucking barbell on my big toe and now it hurts like a motherfucker and i can barely walk. I don't think it's broken since i can kinda move it. I did finish my workout anyway tho. What does Jow Forums think?

Teach you to not control the eccentric you ego lifting fag
Expect your toe nail to fall off. And it will hurt like 3-4 weeks.
I was done doing barbell rows and i was reracking the plates. I had a 45 left on one side so i lifted the barbell a little in order to get the plate off it. When i got the plate off the barbell fell right on my fucking toe.
Say F to your toenail
I'm not a doctor, and taking medical advice from a mongolian basket weaving forum is probably not a good idea. But, what you have is a Subungual Hematoma. I had an incident where I was cleaning up after hanging pictures, carrying too many tools back to the garage, barefoot, and dropped a hammer directly on my toe from chest level. Over the next few days, the pressure of the blood built and my toe throbbed into some of the worst pain I had ever felt. Being a retard, I took to the internet and figured out that an actual doctor would take a heated instrument to essentially put a hole in the nail. I couldn't get that to work, so I ran my smallest drill bit under rubbing alcohol and slowly drilled a hole into the nail where the pain was radiating from. I immediately felt relief. Luckily I didn't drill too far, or cause it to become infected.
You can puncture the nail with a needle and drain the hematoma underneath, this would reduce the pain and decrease the risk of it falling off. If it falls off it will very likely regrow, which however will take some months.
>so I ran my smallest drill bit under rubbing alcohol and slowly drilled a hole into the nail where the pain was radiating from
Bruh. Just bruh
>I did finish my workout anyway tho.
Attaboy
i did this but my toe didnt break it just hurt for a couple days. bar only fell about 2 ft tho, but it looked just like that.
Based and home surgery pilled
The nail doesn't look like you'll lose it, just ice the bad boy and if it's still getting worse after 24 hours go to a doctor.
you should be okay if you had shoes on. this happened to me and my toenail didnt fall off. your toe WILL however, stay black under the toenail until it grows off the front. itll have a black spot for a few weeks. its just blood/bruising trapped under the nail
>dropped a barbell that was half on the floor on your toe from shin height
I'm going to have to diagnose you with a bit of an ouchy.
What the fuck? You drilled your fucking nail?
Are you people for real? Drill your noggin next, blockhead.
You might end up having to pull it out so a new one grows. I've pulled out 2 of mine and it looked very similar
I had a huge piece of wood fall on my toe a couple years ago, the strike was so powerfull it severed and crushed my nail, leaving a gap a la parting of the red sea. The upper half was sonehow still attached to my skin and it took it like a week to fall off. Thankfully the nail was already utterly fucked so no need to pierce it.
Pretty common practice. Lets the blood drain out so it isn't just sitting under there.
What was I supposed to do? The heated element (in my case a sewing needle) I tried, as webmd suggested, wasn't getting anywhere with my thick toenails.
Drill through to the blood. Spray with hydrogen peroxide. Soak in epson salt for days. Lose toe nail. Lessons from experience.
Drill through your nail on the dark spot to drain the blood.
This.
You have to relieve the pressure somehow, it's gonna be crazy painful otherwise.
Either put a hole through the nail with a needle, or drill through it.
I dropped a mini fridge on my toe and had that happen. Ended up using a knife to pry my toenail up from the side and drain the blood.
Why don’t you just call for an ambulance? Why are Americans like this?
You just busted your nail up nothing to worry about, it will fall off soon and regrow. if the new nail starts growing weird see your doctor asap or else you will get fucked over big time with an ingrown toenail that shits not fun
I dropped a 20kg dumbbell on my toe and it basically kept changing color for the next 3-4 months. Eventually the residue will come out though.
I mean it didn't even hurt that bad in the moment cause of the adrenaline in my body so i went on and finished my workout lol
Yah, that’s no good anymore. You’ll have to toss is and get a new one. They usually run about $11 and a really good quality one about $40. Personally I would splurge on the best. Hate for it to be mismatched or something. I bet they even have self trimming ones. That would be nice.
Had pretty much the same thing happen to me. Just went away after a way. You might end up losing your toenail.

Basically what i did to myself when it had on a finger in my hand, i nearly passed out because i'm a pussy lol but the relief and pain going away was totally worth it.
I liked the drill bit, I've fixed so many of these inconveniences with superglue and carpender's knives over the years. But hey I'm a 30+ boomer so you don't want my advice right?
It will happen soon
You're just going to lose the nail. It happens, you'll be fine. Be glad it wasn't broken!
could end up being broken but even if, not much to be done, unless severely displaced (doubt)
subungual hematoma is correct
nail trephination for relief
but if you have no medical sense at all, just go to urgent care please
Side note
Working in the ER and kid came in for similar accident, but was not wearing shoes.
Had his whole second toe smashed completely off lol
wear shoes when lifting
Luckly I was wearing shoes. Went to the doc and she poked a couple of holes in my nail, then did a scan and turned out the finger was fine
I had this happen to me but on my finger pinched between two bars, swollen real bad for a week and then most of the pressure and pain went away. It took about a month for the scab underneath to come off as the nail grew. I didn't lose my fingernail. If the nail isn't wobbly then it should be fine. Ibuprofen and ice are your friend.
My feet are hairier
