David Goggins lost weight almost exclusively by running
running is awesome
>Is running really the worst cardio, or is that just a meme?
Dunno about this one
>Does running on a treadmill vs on a road really make a difference, or is that just a meme?
Huge difference. Road is way better. Would our ancestors have run on a uniform flat surface or one with slight variations? My broscience says it's better for your balance and the stabilising muscles in your legs.
>Will running fast for a long time really make you high, or is that just a meme?
HIIT running makes me high. Running fast for 30 seconds, walking fast for 60 seconds. Do 8 sets.
The best kind of cardio is the one you do. Do you enjoy running? GREAT! Do you enjoy swimming more? Great, do that
Treadmill has its pros
I've been a runner for a decade, and I've never felt a runner's high.
Why do you think most athletes still run regularly? Boxers and MMA fighters build cardio by sparring but they still run. Hockey players build cardio skating but they still run.
Running is not the worst cardio; it's the best cardio because it is the easiest to actually push your heart to its limit without some other limiting factor. Swimming, for example, is not as good at that because your arms and other muscles usually tire before you run out of breath. Plus chlorine is shit for you.
Running is one of the best forms of cardio. All of the people who say it sucks are shitty runners at best. Most have never ran seriously.
Road is better in general, although treadmill is better for recovering if you're coming off of an injury.
Runner's highs are real and fucking great.
Running is inferior to other high intensity/low impact forms of cardio like jump rope/power yoga/HIIT
Take care of your heart, however you want
>runners high
Usually happens on my longer runs. I'll get goosebumps down my back, and any muscle soreness or exhaustion I had is gone. Feels like o could run forever. Thanks for reading my blog.
rope is high impact
It depends, but however you look at it it's certainly lower impact than running.
Depends on your goals dude. Also, HIIT should be a part of a cardio program, not the main thing.
If you goals are to stay fat and flabby and to have chronic joint pain then running is great I guess.
>HIIT should be a part of a cardio program
Please stop posting
pushbikes up hills, go faster, feel better and get higher
also better on the joints
the fuck is power yoga?
swimming=cycling>running
Ever heard of Google faggot? I'll be nice this time and tell you to look into DDP yoga if you want the GOAT power yoga. You can torrent it from Veoble
Running burns more calories per hour than any other form of cardio, but it’s also one of the higher impact types of cardio. Running on grass or dirt can mitigate this, as can having a properly fitted pair of running shoes.
It’s also very programmable and very accessible; other than the cost of good shoes (which is admittedly not cheap) you can run anywhere in any conditions.
Running outside vs. on the treadmill is going to provide a very different mental stimulation and enjoyment, treadmill is also slightly easier because the machine is doing the pacing for you. Mechanically it’s almost the same but not quite; the better your running form the closer treadmill running is to real running, so treadmill isn’t great for most people.
Running at a moderately high intensity for a prolonged period of time does activate a lot of your body’s endogenous opioid, endocannabinoid, and other neurotransmitter systems designed to suppress pain and stress. This is uncommon for most runners to experience unless they’re marathon training. More common is feeling a flow state, aka being in the zone, usually during vo2max work or lactic threshold training.
>Running burns more calories per hour than any other form of cardio
No it doesn't.

Tl;dr running feels like sniffing your farts.
Running is great.
Treadmills are the Smith machines of cardio.
Runners high is a thing, but it's not like you expect and doesn't last very long.
>No it doesn't
Not him but it depends on intensity. Any form of cardio can burn more/less than any other form of cardio, intensity is what matters.
I valet so i pretty much get paid to run which is nice but the only issue is I have to eat a shit ton to keep my weight up now, up to 6000 calories and still losing weight
our ancestors ran on grass and dirt not road you retard and a treadmill is far superior for joints than tarmac due to the give of the machine.
Running high is the same sensation than this after good fap feel
My feet usually start hurting before my heart gives out when I'm running, though.
Our ancestors ran on rocky terrain.
>weighted rope
>lower impact than cardio
this is b8
idk what runner's high is even supposed to be. in the military i did a fuckton of it, both for work and on my own time because i grew to enjoy it. i've run quite a few half-marathons, albeit at a pretty casual pace compared to the actual runners out there, and one 20 miler. many of the half-marathons were supposed to be ruck marches (45 pound pack, carrying a rifle) and i did one in just over 2 hours and 10 minutes -- basically jogging the whole time. never once have i felt anything that approaches a runner's high. what i felt was more a sensation of just falling into the groove of finding a pace you can carry for a long time and enjoying the feeling of sustainable exertion. it feels good, but i never felt "high."
Post body
What burns calories faster, and is sustainable for longer than 60 seconds at a time?
i smoke half a pack of cigarettes a day and can run an eight minute mile no problem
running does seem like a meme
but for how long?
Since we're bragging, I used to smoke more than a pack a day and run three six minute miles. I could run eights literally all day. Running is absolutely not a meme. You can always work on running faster for longer until you've hit as far as you can go without making crazy life sacrifices and/or undergoing gene therapy.
i can do two miles without too much of a problem, after that it starts to get challenging
swimming feels way more cardio intensive for me
if you like swimming more, you can just say that. there's no need to shit on any one cardio activity somehow being "better" or "more cardio intensive" than another because that's just bullshit in all but the absolute fringe cases. running feel easy? run fucking faster and further.
My mom used to run marathons, but now her knees are destroyed so I'd rather just do HIIT work.
I'm not shitting on running sorry if it came across that way, i guess i was just expecting it to be much more challenging on account of my smoking (only started exercising again recently)
>Since we're bragging, I used to smoke more than a pack a day and run three six minute miles
das pretty good mane
>but it depends on intensity
Exactly, however if you compare each cardio type the impact on your joints per calorie burned will be much lower with anything that's not running.
Where did I mention a weighted rope faggot? Even if the rope was weighted the wear on your shoulders will be lower than what running does to your ankles/knees/hips.
So are you implying that running the fastest you can (thus burning calories as fast as you can) is sustainable for more than 60 seconds?
Didn't imply you had to sprint to burn calories the fastest you dingus. 100 kcal/mile doing steady state is pretty fucking efficient. No need to maliciously shitpost this hard.
Empty spin room is the patrician choice for cardio
Imagine not running. its one of the most basic human movement patterns. you're cucking yourself hard if you don't do it and do it often.
Where the fuck are your ancestors from? Mine all ran on grass and bog
Running is king.
The only exercise where you can push your heart and cardiovascular system to the absolute max before having to stop.
Unless your body is shit and your legs give out first which should never happen for a normal human.
running is great plus its great for picking up chicks not that I'd know
Ten try a 7:00 pace....
Running is amazing I regret falling for the cardio kills your gains meme. When running you can feel like you have physically reached your limit but it's almost always possible to power through and there's no better feeling
>100 kcal/mile doing steady state is pretty fucking efficient
You can achieve the same effect without trashing your knees.
verywellfit.com
I'm shitposting because I don't like people who run, they remind me of vegans.
I've got to be honest, running fucked up my knees but only for my bad form lifts.
like, before I could do bad form squats sometimes if I was tired or lazy but now I have to do them *perfect* otherwise my knees will scream bloody murder
but as long as I do my knees are fine.
It's kind of a good thing I guess?
Mfw way too heavy to run and improve cardio
288lbs 6ft5
just take it slow fella, real slow if you need to.
time running is what's important, speed comes later.
