Uhh yeah from Europe if you mean that

not Lutheran but Martin Luther is based and ive been to a few Lutheran services

there arent many of us outside europe user

Youd be surprised. Grew up in minnesota which is basically entirely german and scandinavian. Almost all churches we had were lutheran around where i lived, and most religious people were too.

That, also theres like a huge mission in Asia and Africa

Whats your denomination, user?

Baptist here but Lutheran bros are based and i have been considering becoming Lutheran myself.

Overall just struggling with faith. It always seems like i'm fighting myself whenever i try to be a good person. Really i think i just need any christian church at this point to fix me up.

I'm Reformed, am I welcome?

Everybody is welcome!!

What's the official stance of the catholic church on this?

What do you mean with fighting yourself? &Do you go to church?

Not him but I don't go to church because of my anxiety issues. Plan on talking to a shrink soon though

It just seems like my natural state is that of a bad person. Not even a normal sinful person but an active greaseball. For example i am currently trying to fix my swearing habit but the second i get around friends it just seems to slip out. I need to actually speak slower just to prevent it.
Also as of recently no i have not gone to church. I haven't even prayed in months. I still fully believe but it would be easy to say that my faith is "dead" as the Catholics often say. I don't feel the same pull that i did when i first became christian. I don't have that same fire, i think the christian word for it is "lukewarm" and i am aware that it is an extremely dangerous state for my soul to be in.

I honestly don't know. I think they are happy that Lutherans and other Protestants are accepting Jesus as their Lord and savior and follow the Bible, but unsurprisingly not happy that they reject the special authority of the Pope and the Roman Church.
My priest says we should accept them as brothers in Christ no matter what, which sounds like a chill and reasonable thing.

Same. I'm hesitant to call myself a Christian because I feel like I'm just shaming Christ by so doing. I also feel as if God doesn't forgive me, but I still maintain my hope in Christ.

I think they are frens and it's fun to pray with them but it pisses me off when they receive holy communion. Some priests even encourage that. Since there is no valid confession in protestant communities they at least have to burn for some time before they ascend to heaven I would assume

I understand that youre anxious because of that but remember that god loves you. Theres nothing we can do to make us more or less worthy of redemption, we are only saved through Christ.

can non-lutherans post itt?

your priest sounds like a nice guy!

He died for everyone, including you. It is never late to turn your life around and be a better man. Even Augustine lived a life of sloth and sin before finding his way.

>Theres nothing we can do to make us more or less worthy of redemption
I don't know user. I know that's true, but it's hard to convince myself of it. I mean, how am I to feel that God has forgiven me when I cannot forgive myself?

He is. And he has been with me all along the way. From my conversion (from Lutheran no less, but that was only due to what felt right to me personally - nothing wrong with Lutherans at all in my book), to my confirmation and wedding

Everybody can! Whats your denomination, brother/sister?

I don't have a denomination, I'm new at this. Sorry!

Adults can get confirmated? I am glad, you seem like a nice guy too.

I think that god has forgiven the unforgivable and therefore it is our duty to forgive as well. I know its easy to be harder on yourself than the rest. I do the same thing I guess. And I suppose its important too, to keep yourself in check. But you shouldnt feel like you are a bad person. Nobody is.

Aw thats fine! I hope youll find something that works for you!

>But you shouldnt feel like you are a bad person. Nobody is
That's the opposite of true. Everybody is a bad person (Romans 3), and me especially so.

Thanks! I don't know how much you know about denominations but is there one that isn't heavily involved with the bible itself?

Why do you think youre worse than others? Because of swearing?

The Pentecostals maybe? Idk a lot about them but i think they are a bit weird

Oh that guy isn't me btw. I'm the original poster of the swearing comment, he is just another Christian who feels he is a bad person. Its hard to tell without ids.

yikes, thank you, I dont think they're for me.

No, I'm not him. I'm a degenerate of the first order, I fap to perverse shit multiple times a day every single day, I'm intentionally an asshole that treats people despicably, I'm a burden on my family etc etc. To tell myself I'm not a horrible person would be to stick my head in the sand. I hate myself so much

I think its important to differentiate between what a person does and the person themselves. Maybe you do bad shit who knows. Everyone does. But thats not the point. The point is that god redeems you regardless, and that out of gratefulness you try and change your ways for the better. Ill pray for you.

Enjoy your man-made "church"

Can anybody give me a quick rundown on the differences between Calvinism and Lutheranism?

First difference that comes to mind is that Calvinists believe in predestination (God chooses who is saved and who is not, it is impossible to resist your destiny) while Lutherans believe that it is up to the person and fate has little to do with it.

Also Calvinists focus more on gods power and Lutherans on his grace.
Calvinists are the theocratic types. Want godly laws and shit

I am but a Baptist may i join

>god
>does is real

>Calvinists are the theocratic types. Want godly laws and shit
Are they really that extreme? I live in a historically calvinist country but it was also one of the most tolerant in Europe at the time

there isn't one. the catholic church both hopes for the salvation of all mankind and says there is no salvation outside of the church. basically they think you are going to hell but too pussy to say it

>Lutheran
lel. End of renaissance was a mistake.

Infant baptism is meaningless prove me wrong

t. also Baptist
