I don't know about reservation "Indians" but where I live is 99.9% white but there's 5% of the population that's got thick black hair and just looks like a total spic, but they're not Mexican, they're Cherokee or whatever. Leaf here, I hung around with some Natives in a psych ward. They were part of a drug gang. No idea why they were there or why there were more than one of them, but these were some of the coolest guys I'd ever met. Like, they were no dummies, and had a certain panache about them. Not sure how to describe them exactly. I'm sure they are a rarity though. Most natives are drug-addicted bums or criminals it seems. You'll see lots of thuggish looking ones and lots of downtrodden bums in certain areas but never one wearing a suit. I do find their women attractive as well.

They live on ghettos known as "reserves". I know of 3 in my area. One of them is full of race mixing whites, and it looks like any other neighbourhood, ie good. An important thing to keep in mind about the natives of North America is that they weren't one nation or one civilization. Each tribe regarded the members of other tribes as outside the protection of such "law" as they possessed. Hell, in most cases the word in each individual native language for "people" is the same word as the name of the tribe, for the simple reason that no one outside the tribe was considered human.

Large groups of natives really only still exist in certain areas where there are a lot of reservations (New Mexico/Arizona, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Montana, etc.), and each region has different tribal identities. They are concentrated in states that generally have a low population of whites that wanted to live in the land. Sioux are the dominant tribe in the dakotas and midwest, zuni/hopi and apache in New Mexico/Arizona, blackfoot in Montana. There are literally thousands of unique tribes/cultures, and modern natives are often never purely one tribe. Many have significant European admixture, or have family that are members of multiple tribes. Lots of whites claim distant ancestry like Cherokee because they were a large group in the southeast during colonial times (where more anglos were present), and sometimes mixed generations ago. African Americans, too sometimes have native admixture. Read about the trail of tears if you want to know how natives were treated.

But the largest not-talked about native group are actually Hispanics. Most Hispanics (majority in US are Mexican) may have up to 1/3rd or 1/2 native ancestry, but are usually lumped in a separate group of being Latin American. But if you know about their cultural practices, many native ideas still persist despite centuries of Spanish Catholic brainwashing.

Indian reservations are like third-world countries. They do not have the same services and infrastructure as the rest of America because they are sovereign lands, they do get government aid but do not have a lot of money coming in otherwise. That's why their communities are ravaged by crime, substance abuse, and poverty. It's the same for any area/racial group that has to live in poverty. I don't think it's anything intrinsic to their race, they just got dealt a bad hand by history. They were mostly exterminated and the ones that survived were given the worst plots of land.

Actually, since the fall of Rome in most parts of Europe there has been continuity to land titles. That means that even when governments fell or when one country was conquered and absorbed by another country, land ownership had a lot of continuity.

That's pretty dramatically different from a system of common land ownership at a tribal level, where land is only owned by a tribe on the basis of the power of that tribe from moment to moment. When that's your land ownership system, you DON'T HAVE a land ownership system.
