Sort of; it's good for compressive grip strength, while for holding strength you're better off with double-overhand deadlifts or weighted chins or something

Don't fall for meme gimmicks like this. Lifting weights makes your grip stronger.

Yeah. Once you feel it gets easier to close do negatives and hold that shit for a minute or something. You could also try to hold it using less fingers or use it downoards to use your index finger more.

It does if you use them correctly; position, tension, static holds, and pairing them with a strength routine
