How do you guys afford to go to the gym?

How do you guys afford to go to the gym?

At the end of the month I literally have less than $20 of disposable income.

Lift some water bottles if you're that poor

Post your monthly finances. I'll tell you what to change

You can buy cement blocks for a couple bucks each from home Depot or Lowe's. A pull up bar for less than $20 from Walmart. Go to a used sporting goods store and get some weights at
.65/lb or so.

If you buy piecemeal, the situation is manageable.

Rent is $1200
Heat/Gas is $100
Water is about $80
Food is about $200 a month

I make about $1600. It's tough

To go into more detail, gallon jugs filled with sand.
Calisthenics.
You can make squats harder by using only 1 leg. Use a small chair to assist you.
Pushups can also be made harder by elevating your feet like on a chair. Or moving your hands closer together.
Pullups from beams
Do some yoga on youtube.
And running for cardio obviously.

should have studied in high school and got a real major in college

Find local gyms. I canceled my 24 hour meme gym for a local gym because they offered me 20 a month with no annual fees

take the calisthenics pill, its free

>$1200
where do you live? also find a better paying job

This as well. You won’t get crazy gains but it’s something

>Rent is $1200
Where do you live? Unironically move out

Get a roommate or less expensive apartment

Commiefornia

>Rent is $1200
Move somewhere cheaper, or find a roommate. I'm sure you can find a place similar for 1k.
>Heat/Gas is $100
wtf, I've never lived somewhere where this wasn't included in rent.
>Water is about $80
Fair.
>Food is about $200 a month
Can easily be cut down to $100-$150 if you plan out your meals.

Spending 1200 on rent on 10/hour is insane. I understand there could be certain economic factors involved but usually places with rent that high should have jobs that can pay a couple more bucks an hour. you might have to move farther away.
I would look to spend no more than 50% income on rent.

>1200 rent
Move out of California retard
Or get a roommate.
You're spending way too much on rent for someone with such a small income.

>Rent is $1200
Imagine being poor but staying a big city.

Move out, make sure you leave any liberal politics behind.

I live in California. Getting an apartment for a good price is pretty difficult here.

They get paid 12/hr their you’re either lying or getting finessed

I wouldnt say easily. Going that low on food means eating basically the same thing every day.

>Make 1600 but you're paying 1200 in rent alone

Wut

Amazon pays 15/hour

Move out tomorrow and don't forget to piss on the floor. Walk towards east as long as you need until you get out of the desert, find a job and a flat and try again.
Or water bottles.

>i make 1600
>hang out on Jow Forums
what are you a personal trainer? LMAO

>Going that low on food means eating basically the same thing every day.
What's wrong with that?

I know, I had one room in a three room apartment that cost me $900/m. Move out, move back in with your parents (if you're under 22) or find a place with reasonable rent. You don't need to live in CA.

Op is retarded

Find someone to live with you, move in with you gg or move out. Doing crazy shit (like only drinking water from your work place/ only shitting there) to save up on other things isn't as worth as paying less rent

Gf*

I don't know if I can really leave Calofornia. I only got this job because my father has contacts. I probably won't get a job anywhere else. I didn't even finish high school.

Holy God, OP, you gotta fix that rent situation ASAP. 75% of your income on rent is so unsustainable, it’s a miracle you aren’t homeless.

It just shows that most people are poor because they are fucking stupid. How can any sane, non-retarded person think it’s okay to spend $1200 on rent when they make $1600. It’s absolutely absurd. It’s why hate paying taxes. I refuse to subsidize these brainless monkeys.

>10/hr
>contacts
So your father signed you up for a job that’s $2 less than minimum wage OP?

I unironically pay $220/mo for my crossfit membership

>Rent is $1200
normal country

Then get your GED. You can do it, plenty of people have done it before you have. You can and you will. Put your nose to the grind stone. Start running everyday. Do calisthenics everyday. Study everyday. You do not have to live the rest of your life like this if you choose to. You haven't failed unless you've admited failure.

Rent is supposed to be no more than 30% of you net income reeeeee

>Needs father’s contacts to make $1600 a month in CA
Lmao at your life, bro. That’s way more pathetic than not being able to finish high school, which by itself is quite pathetic. Unironically fucking leave that shithole and get any other job. Waiting tables, bartending, construction. Life is so easy in America you have no clue.

Based
Redpilled

>I literally throw away good money to hang with a bunch of pretentious and subtly masochistic twats

Where do you live? 1200 a month for what? Seems pretty expensive I just moved from Fl to GA and my rent went way down suddenly I can like save money and shit

you're just a moron. The solution is simple but you probably don't want to do it because of trivial reasons

The YMCA literally has low income programs requiring you to pay

lmao you are one stupid nigger, you know that?

Why the fuck are you living in such an expensive place when you make so little? Move a little ways out of the city, or get a smaller apartment

Guessing Seattle

Could be any big industrial metro. San Fran or New York, maybe.

Roommate idiot

Just fucking lol at california you people are such god damn retards

Bro I live near SF and I pay less than you and I live in a decent 2BR, you can definitely find a cheaper shittier place wherever you are. Check rooms/shares on CL

My gym is less than Netflix per month and actually has good equipment.

what worked for me is commiting to 3 months of only masturbating to myself. I don't mean noporn/only fapping to imagination. I mean only masturbating to myself in the mirror. Over the next three months I developed a personal relationship with myself that I never thought possible and often found myself giddy with excitement before the gym because I knew I could get back afterwords with a pump I could watch in the mirror. Quite frankly, I fell in love with myself and at times even glimpsing at the mirror will give me goosebumps and a semi

>cancel your gym membership.
>make an ebay and amazon account
>purchase a $50 foldable bench press (amazon)
>purchase $65 adjustable squat rack stands (ebay)
>purchase used weights or buy a starter barbell set around $150 and up or make your own weights out of sand/concrete if you're that fucking poor
>you can get a pull up bar that hooks up to your door frame for $25 from Walmart or you could spend $100 more and buy a pull up/dip bar combo station
>running and walking is free
>loads of used bikes ranging from $20 to $200 on sell your used garbage apps or you could always steal one if you live in a big city
>no more waiting to use equipment
>no more using meme machines
>no more listening to gay max volume millennial music
>no more dealing with weird people who go to the gym every fucking day at the same time as you
>no more wasting gas or bus/train fare to get to the gym
>congratulations you now have a home gym for the price of what you would of paid for an entire years membership

Where do you live? North Korea?

>or you could always steal one if you live in a big city

I see somebody failed the paper bag test

>saving pennies you're already pressed for to get a bunch of mismatched poverty-tier junk that you'll probably injure yourself with or replace in a year anyway
Genius

>saving pennies you're already pressed for to get a bunch of mismatched poverty-tier junk that you'll probably injure yourself with or replace in a year anyway

i fell for the b8 m8 and also

>being so DYEL that the thought of lifting in your own home makes you think that you're going to injure yourself cause no one can spot you but your goldfish

ngmi

The point is why settle for subpar equipment when PF is $8/month? I mean if you're really that poor I can understand using a lead pipe and some jugs of sand, but it really doesn't seem worth it for me to have to deal with subpar equipment.

ahh yes, a true wage slave.

> get autismbux
> work for $15/h cash
> enough disposable income to buy scotch and cuban cigars
Suck it wagie

Sounds like we should spend more money on education then.

But it's the liberal states that aren't a deficit to federal funding, hmm...

Become a neet and use mommy good boy points to get gym membership

Rent should be no more than 30% of your income. You cant afford that shit until you’re making 17 an hour.

* if you work 60hr weeks or $25/hr for 40hr

>cities that are not "CALIFORNIA" don't exist
not everywhere's the midwest you dumb rube

There are several conflicting factors here and it's definitely not simplifiable to just liberal policies.

IQ is largely inborn and is a potent predictor of adult income levels, even moreso than your parents' income levels. Education doesn't change this much, though I think basic financial education has a greater role to play in public education. I do feel for the guy paying so much in rent though.

He said he's from California, you smug bitch.

Stop being poor?

Ive had it so good all my life i never appreciated how expensive lifting is until this year. Got laid off and went properly broke.

The membership. The food. More food. Whey and so much laundry.

Ok Grandad.

holy shit america is such a shithole LMAO

Low-tier post user

Just coming in to say I spend 2.3k on rent and I make 6k per month so I feel for you bro

At that point, you might as well buy a house. Why are you still renting?

Because my parents pay for my membership and my supplements because they want me to be healthy since i am their favouritest boy

says the american
holy shit, barely surviving on 1600 dollars a month living by yourself without even supporting a child or a family member, how can anyone defend this bullshit besides mentally ill brainwashed american slaves?
stay mad and keep slaving away your life merisharts

I move cities every 2 years or so. Not ready to settle anywhere yet. Plus here in Seattle a shitty starter house is like a million dollars.

Where are you from? $1600/mo is not a lot of money in the US at all. It's like minimum wage.

understandable

Just what does the place look like? You're probably not meant to be living there alone, get roommates.

>Where are you from? $1600/mo is not a lot of money in the US at all. It's like minimum wage.
That's exactly the whole point, if 1600 dollars a month isn't enough to live a good life by yourself where you live then you're in a shithole.

Cost of living varies with average income in the area. Which is why I asked where you're from.

> being in europe
> studying
> $1k every month from the gov.
> $500 loan every month w/ 1% annual interest

ez life.

And then you pay more income taxes on lower average incomes than the US. I'm genuinely not sure which is worse desu.

Just do calisthenics bro.

depends what field you're in.
also, i'd rather pay higher taxes and stay the fuck away from us. Scandinavia is based af.

No, it doesn't really depend what field you're in. Matched professions are paid more in the US. And cost of living and taxes are lower. Scandinavia certainly has its benefits though.

I make 4500 and my rent is 1450 and I think my rent is too high.

I can afford to go to the gym because my rent is 13.5% of my income and my wife pays me back half of the living expenses.

you forget the benefits as well. we don't have to pay for healthcare in anyway, paid maternity, if you become unemployed you've got 2 years to get back on your feet while getting ~$2,6k/monthly

>1200 dollar rent
Ahahahahaha what kind of fucking parasite landlord do you have?

> web developer
> live in the UK
> earn enough to afford a mortgage and have a shit ton of disposable income at the age of 26

get a better job idiot.

As I say, Scandinavia has its benefits. I actually wouldn't mind these programs if America were more homogeneous. Alas, it's not, so I prefer a more individualistic setup.

Based. USA ?

Can I immigrate to Scandinavia and get those perks?

try sweden lol. they let everyone inside it seems

Lmao cope

Just buy a home gym I don't pay anything lmao
