The thing they don't understand is that love takes a lot of effort to create and even more effort to sustain. If you're a loser when you found love, you might get a few months high that helps you be more productive and happy in life, but eventually everything will fall apart. That person wont fix the years of abandonment, your parents not loving you, being alone through school years, being ignored and unwanted or the conditioning that you were fed over the years.

I speak as someone who do get laid and who has been in a relationship before, so I kind of side with OP on his sentiment, but I also have a friend with mental problems that were aggravated by hard drug abuse who is now the textbook example of a bitter incel and being his close friend I can understand exactly why. So allow me to play devil's advocate for a while.

It's not necessarily the idea that people like that think that a gf would necessarily save them, it's the idea that you've spent so long having this social norm pushed down your throat telling you that gf=success while facing frequent rejection from the opposite sex that gets you to believe that you can't be happy as a single man and that your failures to mate makes you an undesirable trash who's place is at the bottom of the social hiearchy. So you develop the idea that once a woman finds you desirable enough to sex you and stick around, it means that you have been recognized as normal and worthy of being called successful. It stems from a profound desire to be accepted by society. I know I've been there when I was younger and my friend is still there. I try to talk him out of that social pressure bullshit, but where I stand makes me lose credibility. I understood that it's all bullshit thatcdon't matter once I started getting laid, but since I get laid and he doesn't, to him I just sound like I'm full of shit, bur it's all about that false notion that a relationship is mandatory to be seen as a valuable person. To survive the human condition, our egos require companionship and support from other members of our species. I'd never had a GF until 27. Its true that it doesn't magically fix your problems over night but when it comes down to it being loved and desired by someone when you never have been before does more to help a person grow and heal than all the positive thinking, self improvement, philosophy, and therapy in the world. It didn't last, we were only together for about a year and it was heartrending to lose her but even as low as I felt then the positive impact she had on my life and the things I learned both about myself and realtionships was far greater. Love does a tremendous amout to help fix your problems so long as you're already trying and want to fix them.
