I don't think the question of "who was in the wrong" is as relevant as "who is the most stupid" in this situation, and undeniably the guy who tried to assault two men wielding guns with a baseball bat is the answer. My advice would be that if someone pulls out a gun during a dispute, you back away as quickly and safely as possible.
