Fell for the linux meme again

>fell for the linux meme again
fuck linux I always literally spend days trying to fix some problem that materialises on a fresh install and never ever find a solution. I put myself through this every few years and always think this time it'll be different, this time linux is state of the art, and every few years I'm proven wrong and I go back to Windows again

>look mom im a hacker

I fell for the linux meme 12 years ago, there are ups and downs but it's alright :^)

I've been trying to switch to linux every few years since the early 2000's, and it always ends the same way

My reasons? Lightweight, free, secure. Always assurances everything will work, games will work, I can do everything I can do in windows.

Yet some problem always pops up that literally nobody on the internet has had before (or can solve), or when other people have had it, none of their solutions work. I spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to fix it before throwing the towel in, every time.

Linux sucks, no games, have to use command prompt for every single fucking thing. It's for wannabe hackers who think they're hot shit

Install Linux Mint. It JustWorks

This, but I love Linux in a headless server environment.
I sometimes virtual desktop into it when I need to, but most everything can be handled through a terminal remotely on a Windows machine.

Wtf how the fuck are you incapable of running fedora, manjaro or ubuntu ?
You literally just have to click the install button to get that thing running.

For configuring your shit read the ArchWiki it works even for other distros... they have better documentation then debian or ubuntu forums.

did you fall for the thinkpad meme too? stop going on Jow Forums

This time I tried fedora

Grub wouldn't install at all, which was a big red flag for me immediately, though I gave it the benefit of the doubt and then spent 3 fucking days trying to get grub to install/ work, without any success, or any solution on the internet working. Supposedly it might be because it's an nvme drive.

Anyway I wanted to look past this. Sure I'd have to hit f8 on every startup to boot into linux, but other than that things seemed to be working. Then I was trying to install some packages it kept throwing error messages at me about the drive. Just gave up at this point.

I literally listened to someone say what you said in your post, and thought it'd be different this time.

Haven't owned a laptop since 2005

>not dual booting and getting the best of both worlds
It's like you want to do this the most miserable way possible.

It would've been a dual boot but instead my computer acted like there was no install so I just kept booting into Windows 10

Had to keep hitting F8 to boot into the linux installation drive, and even then grub wouldn't show. Everywhere on the net says grub automatically installs with the distro and I shouldn't have had any of these issues, but as usual this sort of shit happens to me.

werks on my XPS 13 running Kubuntu 19.04 ;)
did have some issues initially with X11 crashing but a quick reinstall fixed it

I've never understood why people struggle with GNU. It is so easy and simple to use. Especially compared to Windows. Everything is well documented in the OS and it all makes sense. Windows is the opposite.

Linux is great if you want to (LARP) software development or webserving. Useless for anything else. Unless you genuinely enjoy fucking around with your computer for the sole purpose of fucking around with your computer.

>Oboy time to edit and re-edit text files to try and troubleshoot a simple problem that shouldn't exist in the first place

>I can compile my programs FROM THE SOURCE CODE

GIMP is also the single best argument against free software. Don't even get me started on how godawful useless any kind of audio/video applications are.

Dual booting is a problem for many people for some reason. Maybe you didnt get the partitioning right. Also depends if its a BIOS or UEFI. As BIOS recognises only 4 partitions... and I think windows has 2-3 ? And nix systems also have something around that numbers.
I would advise trying to boot from another drive. Before I switched to linux. When I started out I first installed it on a live usb, on an old HDD and on a VM... to master the art of disk partitioning... and just then i moved to dual booting

I like GIMP. It's easy enough to use. Openshot and Shotcut are fine for doing video shit. Even if you just need a frontend for ffmpeg. I don't know about the audio stuff.

As a linux user I really aggree that linux sucks at audio and video editing... It's just so time-consuming to set up ardour etc...

I would say though that every other software is better on linux than on windows. Maybe you dont have MsOffice ... But you have LaTex, libreOffice or WPSOffice

Don't forget Emacs. With the right plugins it is way better than any office suite.

I prefer Vim... but thats maybe just because I'm too lazy to learn Emacs keybindings.

They're really very different. Vi, and its forks, are just simple text editors, whereas Emacs can be anything.

>didn't even describe the distro he was using
>not knowing "linux" is a series of corelibs that use the GNU kernel
Wew lads, if you are a itoddler that can't even write a basic shell script in BASH maybe you should just let (((Microsoft))) send all of your browsing data to their HQ while making you pay $20/month for Office

The problem with a lot of you late to the Linux game is that if you want to do linux right you still have to pick your hardware for Linux before trying to install linux.
It's obviously much better than it was before when you have to really be specific with some of your hardware if you wanted shit to work. It still applies though.

>>the GNU kernel
>implying GNU kernel

You stupid retard.

>GNU kernel
Aaah so it's not GNU/Linux but GNU/GNU

Suddenly a dol

Linux is a scam
A way to keep the talented programmers of the world busy with a big fucking clusterfuck of nonsense so that they won't create or help create something actually decent.

There.
I just spoiled the end of the movie.

fell for the xubuntu meme 2 years ago and it has worked fine for me. maybe try not being stupid

Is that someone's dick going in her? Gross

Use Debian stable dumbarse.

Linux is worse than Windows, that's a fact. But It have way less virii. And It is usable If you install the right distro.
