WoW is terrible. Any chat in guild channel is consider spam. Unless you are talking about mount hunting.
I don't have any experience with WoW, but a lot of my irl friends met people there, and they meet regularly so that's possible.
It might be a local thing though, maybe Spanish WoW-culture is different.
I played wow retail in legion but everybody was like NPCs they would go from point a to point b in dungeons, 0 talking, and when the dungeon ended they all instantly leave

i've made friends on overwatch which lasted a while (not very long because of my lack of social awareness) anyway, just play online or ask around Jow Forums and it's most likely you'll find a friend. or just succumb to being a complete neet and have no social life.

as a long time tf2 plater i can't say it's any better then any other game. people hardly "play" the actual game. It seems to be composed of jewish traders, sexually deviant faggots and hackers.
I'm in a smaller position than you (played years ago, 1100 hours in the game). there are always the custom servers to play on. at least in my country, they had some quality I think. don't know how things are going today
