then i would build a railhead so you could easily move containerized freight and building materials through the gate (people and animals could just walk)
then would i build permanent connections for oil gas water (and electricity if that's possible)

then i would create some kind of magical financial system whereby people would willingly send goods and services to another planet for no benefit in return to them

Well financial system wouldnt work yet. I'd take a plot of land (nothing excessively big, I'd still like to have the woods around to hunt or foraging: just enough to have a garden where to grow veggies, maybe a a fruit tree or two and some chickens) in central Europe; I'm a med student so I have some skills in healing and first aid, I wouldn't mind becoming a general practitioner of a small rural village if some anons want to come live nearby.

(I'm a sucker for these kind of "new frontier" larping, I'd really like this to become reality no kidding)
