Should I see a doctor or is this nothing to worry about? It's from a mosquito bite I stupidly scratched the shit out of. The pen circle is for me to keep track of the redness.
What the fuck is up with this scab?
shit looks infected but im not a doctor
rip the scab off, apply neosporin and a good bandaid
Yeah, it really does. I really hope I don't have staph. I'm not nauseous, no fever, and the wound bite thing doesn't feel hot, but you never know.
Sounds risky. I really don't want to fuck with it.
doesn't look that bad desu, I've had scabs look like that, especially mosquito ones after I scratch them
although they're smaller
And yours just went away on their own?
>scratched the shit out of
If there is no pus and what you said in is true it is likely just from you scratching it a lot, though if you are worried it doesnt hurt to get it checked out regardless. Just resist scratching it and it should heal up just fine, mosquito bites tend to suck like that.
There was pus leaking out, if yellow liquid counts. A lot, but lately, there's been less pus. A couple days ago, it was like a little dried, bubbly mountain of dried pus. That one fell off in my sleep and before this one in my pic dried, there was only very small amounts coming out. Is less pus a good thing?
Yes, although it was a lot of time ago since I never pick at mosquito bites anymore. I'd suggest going to a doctor anyways, if it's free in your country.
>Yes, although it was a lot of time ago since I never pick at mosquito bites anymore.
I usually don't either. When I first got this bite, I had two others that I left alone. I don't know why I scratched this one so much.
>I'd suggest going to a doctor anyways, if it's free in your country.
I live in the US.
That blue circle around it looks concerning.
Yeah, I figured that might be the case. How much does it cost?
It's a pen circle to track the redness. Don't you worry, user.
>How much does it cost?
I have no idea. I'm afraid to go the doctor because I'm a broke NEET and live with my dad.
It's just a small infected wound because your stupid ass decided to scratch a bump with your dirty fingernails.
Wash your hands, then try to squeeze as much puss out of it as you can.
Apply some rubbing alcohol and put a band aid on it when it's dry.
Should be much better in a few days.
And next time you get a bite apply some anti-itch gel and for the love of god don't scratch it.
What's risky about ripping a scab off? If it's already infected then the worst that could happen is that it just bleeds. If I were you I'd rip it off and treat it like a pimple and try to pop it then just ignore it. The only time I use a bandaid is if it doesn't stop bleeding after a couple minutes. If it still doesn't look good then consider a visit to a doctor.
I'd pull the scab off one more time and apply some kind of disinfectant. But I'm pretty sure I've had scabs that looked a bit like that and I didn't really bother doing anything special and it didn't kill me.
My dad said to put hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin on it. What do you anons think?
Squeeze the puss out of it.
Rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine whatever you have available as long as it's an disinfectant.
I'm not doing that. I read popping it will spread the pus elsewhere. Can't risk it.
Will these things work if the thing's already infected?
P. S. The thing bursted. Now it has an ugly leaking hole. I dunno if Neosporin will fix this.
I actually dealt with a rash of those things a little while back, no pun intended.
It's a bacterial crust as a result of an infection.
You need to remove it, clean it and properly dress the wound otherwise it'll never get better.
IIRC you don't "have" to remove the scab but it'll greatly improve the healing.
I used heavier-than-normal amounts of Neosporin because I wasn't able to get a bandage to properly adhere to my skin, due to the location of the my wound.
Good luck nigga.
Sorry OP but that's the mark of a faggot
you're fucking retarded, you need to get rid of the gunk and make room for your body to heal itself
which means pealing the scab off and pushing the pus out, bonus points for using a disinfectant (like neosporin) and keeping other foreign junk out (a bandage) while your body repairs itself
It will only work if you clean the wound, which means squeezing the puss out.
It's gonna sting like a motherfucker but just keep going until it's mostly blood and no yellow or clear liquid coming out of it.
Then wash the area with soap and apply the disinfectant.
Thanks, user! I don't have any bandages or stuff like that, though. I was skeptical about removing the scab because when I posted about this thing on the 23rd, someone told me to leave the yellow stuff alone.
>you're fucking retarded
I know. I scratched a mosquito bite until it got infected. That's why I made this thread. I need help and you guys are the only ones I really ever interact with on a daily basis.
I heard squeezing it only spreads more under the skin, though.
looks like AIDS. rip my man
It's about time! I lived 21 years too long.
Squeezing it out is your best bet.
Animals lick their wounds to get rid of the puss and because their spit contains bacteria that help fight off infections.
You could lick your wound like an animal, or squeeze it out and apply some alcohol like a normal 21 century human would.
You're dying, unironically.
Well, I put hydrogen peroxide on it now, but I refuse to squeeze it. I don't want it to spread under my skin.
I've been dying since I was born, user. We all are. It's no news to me.
Hydrogen peroxide won't do anything unless the puss is gone.
It's like putting soap on poop and expecting it to become clean poop.
But you do whatever man.
Just don't expect it to heal for another month or two.
Oh fuck. How else can I get the pus out?
>It's about time!
yea congratulations on your slow, shameful and agonizing death sentence
Haha. You're a madman, user.
Warm compress.
Take a CLEAN towel and pour warm water on it. Not hot enough to scold yourself but quite hot.
Then just gently press it against the infected area and hold it there for a few minutes.
Clean it with hydrogen peroxide and repeat the process each day until a normal brown scab has formed.
I can do that, but I don't know what a warm compress is.
Wait. Never mind. I'm a dummy. You just explained that it's a clean towel with warm water.
