Unironically just ask for a 1 to 2 blended sides and whatever length you want the top

ask for a fade with short on the sides and long on the top. have them start with 2-3mm on the sides and then work their way up to 4-6mm depending how long you want it. Show them that picture.

Wtf? Loads of guys do that. I used to just ask "short back and sides" but I'd get a different result each time, even with the same barber. A picture is worth a 1000 words. I'm sure they will be happier with that than trying to decipher whatever vague instructions you're stuttering out.

One time the haircut was very good so I asked the barber to take front side and back pictures and now I show those.
This may seem autistic but the barbers like it and they always know what to do.

If you want a serious fade, just ask for a military fade. If you want that pic, ask for a 1-3 on the sides with the top being scissor-cut.
