If the kid isn't physically able to actually protect himself then standing up to the bullies just causes more problems for the kid. Along with that, turning non-violent people that have some consideration for others into violent socipathic people just to counter other violent people only creates a world full of conflict. Ideally they can handle the bullying without sacrificing their cooperative and non-aggresive tendencies but too often it gets to them and the world becomes a shittier place. I know that no one is perfect but I would hope that the world will one day be rid of social competition. I hated high school. If I did shoot up the place, I knew the kids I wanted to kill would just be glorified by the media.
