Highly depends on which servers you were on. SeriousRP peaked at late Open Aura and beginning Clockwork.
Very early servers were shit and filled with DarkRP players minging around and generally failRPing. But as the bad servers were weeded out and the non-bandwagonning playerbase grew up, the rules became stricter and more logical, everyone had experience in the "new" genre.
I was often about that OG passive roleplay and observed the action from behind. "RDMing" a CP sounds shit, because every citizen has a legitimate reason to murder a member of the Universal Union so maybe it was just the server you've been in.
Other times we had a small clique of TS3 and Steam buddies and joined servers together to combine our tokens, buy weapons and kill isolated CP officers for their loot. Shit was cash because your heart was always pumping. After a CP dies, he sends a biolink notification to other officers, meaning that any moment could be the last and your character could be permanently killed off. The whole city shuts itself off, everyone starts panicking because one officer bit the dust. Officers raid every single appartment, relocate citizens to a singular location and mark those who are not present as anti-citizens. On a server with an average playerbase of 70 people, that shit was GOLD. Getting hold of a stunbaton, hitting it at an officer, even though you are outmatched and outnumbered and your character's permanent status at risk.

Now SRP servers are slowly dying off. The biggest one alive rn (AFAIK) is Nebulous Cloud aka unofficial LemonPunch revived.
NC has strict, classic rules, a refreshingly new engine, and a large playerbase. The only problem is the mindset of this playerbase. Noone wants to fuck around, they are all just farming tokens so they can escape into the sewers/ Outlands, passive roleplay on that server is absolutely garbage. Noone wants to RP.

DarkRP was okay, too. I had RL friends come over to play on randomly selected servers.
We check whether admins are online really quick, then immediately fuck around, RDM, basically break all the rules until one of us gets permabanned.

I only go on DarkRP to troll since it's such a terrible game mode imo.It;s been so twisted and artifical since GMOD 13. I literally just troll and come up with a masterplan to plan it on someone else and the admins 9 times out of ten are stupid so I literally just lie.

Yep i would join servers and buy bases with my friends and we'd be gun dealers, thieves, drug dealers etc. and just stash all kinds of stuff behind locked doors, and of course RDM until we get perm banned.

However nothing comes close to gmod jailbreak servers, lining prisoners up as the warden and playing simon says or just straight up RDMing and excusing it with "he gave me the finger!"
