How does one even get a non-managerial role in fast food past the age of 18?

You'd have to be pretty delusional to believe that anyone offline would self describe themselves as a NEET

making $7.25/ hour at age 24 knowing that all my bosses are 4+ years younger than me and make much more than I do is almost as humiliating as being NEET. they never give me any hours because I suck so I get maybe $200 every two weeks if I'm lucky. I wish finding another job was easy

I work at a shitty pizza chain (like subway but for pizzas). the owners don't know how to run a restaurant or treat their employees so managers quit left and right. almost all of them are fresh out of high school, and if they like you they'll promote you within weeks of getting hired. it's insane. I've been stuck in a lot of shitty jobs but this is by far the most toxic. there are a few managers who are older than me, but most are like 18.
