I'm terrible at bad guys. I often find hard to believe one would go through so much trouble carrying out a nefarious deed for a certain end, even real life begs to differ. For an exaggerated example, I couldn't convince myself that a character would poison a whole village just to get access to a natural resources to turn a profit. The heroes are easy because I take them doing good deeds even for a price for granted.

I actually have been drabbling a bit for some stories. I'll do a highlight reel of what I have (I'm not too comfortable with posting these yet, still very rough, maybe in a future /creativegeneral/ if this gets off the ground)

This was inspired by the Sly Cooper games, and outside of Sly 2, my favourite parts were disconnected heists that felt like actually heists, stuff like Oceans Eleven. Much like Sly, I'm writing this for a presumably younger audience, same reading level as Series of Unfortunate Events or Harry Potter. If I have kids, I'd probably use it as bedtime stories or some and I want 12 kids with my cute Christian waifu

A story about a town going through weird shit. Mysterious cattle mutilations are occurring and people are disappearing. A private investigator, our main character, is hired by a mourning 18 year old girl, her brother of 12 and father of 35 having disappeared.
The private investigator attempts to uncover the mystery, with multiple theories ranging from a cult within the small town performing sacrificial rituals, a government plot to perform human experiments, or possible ayyyyy happenings.
It's the government working with ayyyyys but there is also a town cult in the background, revitalized after an ayyyyy resembling a goat was seen, and they attempt to resurrect their God. It fails of course or does it

How are you framing your story? Mine is a series of one-off heists meant for kids, but stuff like the already mentioned Sly 2 is a series of heists performed against an organization of 6 people over the course of 8 "Episodes". It manages to pull this off by having the antagonists interact with each other outside of their respective episode to establish each member's role, personality, etc.
This is also while having the main characters develop, and it's astounding what Sucker Punch managed to pull off in what is technically a game for kids, such as having one of the main character have his legs broken and what is for all intents and purposes a redneck racist be a major villain for two whole chapters, in addition to having characters force fed drugs, but cover it up by saying spice instead of drugs

Characterization aside I'm thinking off the almost standard: planning,pulling off the heist and dealing with the consequences. My gimmick entails the robbing of a place most people won't usually think to pull a robbery at. I'm not all that privy on law enforcement and need to do more research or make them a non factor in the story.

I started writing a book a year ago, but only got a few pages in before getting into a crippling bike accident. It was an apocalyptic story about some teenagers trying to survive the downfall of civilization after a sentient AI goes online and tries to enslave humanity. They go around from various survival groups while fending off cyborgs, zombies, mutants, and doomsday cultists. It's a dark comedy where the main character is so traumatized by the end he gets honkpilled.

I've been thinking about writing a graphic novel set in a world where everyone's an anthropomorphic animal. The main character's a gray wolf who's a mercenary. He gets hired by a modest town to take out a mysterious cult leader who came out of nowhere and got the local bandit gangs to follow him. The cult leader is a crow who sold his soul to Satan for superpowers (Telekinesis). Unfortunately I'm a terrible drawer so other than some crude drawings I don't see myself writing this anytime soon.

Does anyone else have pretty unique hobbies that could actually serve them in life? I do cartography casually, and I've also been part of some large modding projects. Two definite skills (project management and working in a team) that I've cultivated personally, but I wouldn't really know how to express in a useful setting.
