I want to take the final step and become a vegan, but I'm somewhat nervous. I'm a marathon runner and weightlifter. I'm not a pro, but my marathon times aren't bad.
With whey protein, ethical milk, and cage-free cruelty-free eggs I feel pretty healthy, but I get the feeling my fitness will go to shit if I go vegan.
Are there special supplements you need to take if you go vegan? Do you need to pound nutritional yeast? Is B-12, iron, etc. an absolute necessity?
And how do you get enough protein? Don't say "eat tofu" or "eat peanut butter." That's not realistic. I need 75g a day given my fairly extreme workouts. Getting like 8g from some tofu isn't close to adequate.

That being said, I'm not going to stop eating meat.
