Hands down in my opinion it's Cleveland. The blacks here are some of the most aggressive hoodrats you'll see in the country and the only whites here are so cracked out that you'll see random white guys tweaking at the bus stop for no reason and if you get to close to them they'll stab to with a rusty screwdriver they found out of the garbage so they can take your money for more cocaine and crack. We have abandoned skyscrapers, potholes the size of black holes that have been around since I was 14 I'm 20 as of now.
Most depressing city in america?

You also forgot the gargantuan levels of snow
Buffalo is probably second place or detroit, but honestly detroit is not as bad as it used to be.
What makes Cleveland even more depressing is that it's one of those failed Midwest cities that they dumped a lot of money into to try to PRETEND that it was "having a renaissance" and that also failed.
>Look we have a new baseball stadium!
>Look we have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Sorry, still a dump.
Man. This shit is depressing. I'm lucky to have lived only in exciting areas. Gl getting outta there user.
This. I had a sporting event in cleveland a few years ago. All of the towering skyscrapers and the view of the lake make it look impressive but when you actually step out of your hotel room you realise the place is a shithole. The nigs there are fucking animals.
Tell me more, these places fascinate me. I never hear about them in Europe
Kind of interested as to what places are known by Americans as being rough. Like in the UK the north is stereotypically rough and most people know North/East London, most northern towns (due to over-reliance on single industries followed by de-industrialization) and other cities like Birmingham and Bristol to be largely rough - what are the places big and small that Americans don't want to be in their own country? Also how has it changed? I know white flight has occurred in a lot of cities there and industrial decline at least to my understanding also seems to be a theme - so what do local governments do to try and address it? That thing about giving failed Midwest cities a renaissance seems very similar to what you see here by the way, kind of weird to think they also do it in America, by this point thought they'd have so much money flying around they'd practically build new cities if they wanted to cover things up.
Does Kalamazoo count as midwest? I visited there 2 years ago and everything in OPs description applies. It felt like a city that had a boom at one point but now is just in a state of inescapable collapse. The only place that felt okay was the university.
Stockton, CA is literally hell
The entire urban Midwest has been ravaged by capitalism. Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis. They're all shitholes because all of their factories abandoned and left people with no jobs.
Flint, Pontiac MI and Rockford IL.
Detroit is scary and cool. Cities like Cleveland/Philly/Balimore are gritty and have character. They have history and things to do.
Ravaged small midwest cities like Flint are just depressing and dangerous.
Most cities are bad and the suburbs are bad. The Ghettos are of course bad and rural towns are also often bad, but not always.
Europe gang
>so what do local governments do to try and address it?
They try to encourage urban renewal through tax incentives and re-zoning, it's good at getting niggers to leave but has a few drawbacks:
>cost of living skyrockets, studio apartments cost $1200+ per month
>becomes populated with libshit hipster faggots
>loss of historical character and charm, everything is replaced with starbucks, pink berry and pretentious gastropubs
>the awkward phase where all the niggers haven't been removed yet so one block is the difference between safety and danger
>niggers get uppity and throw poop because racist gentrification is forcing them to leave
>niggers still hold public office because democrats, you aren't represented politically
>the "tax incentives" are only for Chaim Shekleberg & Associates land development company, YOU are still required to pay outrageously high taxes on everything
Really it's just better to live in an adjacent county full of white republicans so you can visit the city to do fun things but still live in a nice area
too bad if you leave you could get locked up on a concentration camp or deported. oh wait, you are just a whiny bitch
off the top of my head, I would stay away from New Orleans, DC, and Baltimore, but I'm sure there are many more, like the midwestern cities anons are mentioning
describes my city very well, down to it being in the "awkward phase" where one black is a major difference in safety. the only thing that isn't accurate is that it's still relatively cheap to live here, but that's likely to change, as its "rejuvenation" only really got going this decade
Every big city in the United States is "bad". There's no city here without a shit side of town or multiple shit sides of town. I live in Dallas, TX. The city is mostly one big ghetto with a few pockets of nice neighborhoods.
Here are the worst cities from worst to least worst:
St Louis
Detroit
The Bronx
Cleveland
Atlanta
Birmingham AL
DC
Baltimore
Compton
Stockton
Philadelphia
LA
Cincinnati
Kansas city
Columbus
Pittsburgh
Allens town
New Orleans (not as bad as people think)
Houston
Jacksonville
Towards the top to have cities that have completely abandoned neighborhoods (exception the bronx) Mass organized gangs you can get illegal guns for less than 50$, potholes city poverty and lots of blacks. Towards the bottom it's more the usual levels of danger, don't go out past night, keep all money on cards, never walk alone and always carry some sort of weapon. Strict police and drive byes are common here because law and order is still in place. Police reports in Detroit and Cleveland hardly get filled and acted on because there's so much crime and the country can't bring the FBI out every time a petty murder happens. It falls on the police which are usually incompetent unless we're talking about NYPD or LAPD. I work for Metlife I live in Florida but I travel from state to state nearly every week for work so I thought I'd answer this for all who is wondering. Also I didn't include upstate NY because literally every city can apply for the list even small towns.
The entire midwest is a god forsaken shithole
Good list, you couldn't pay me to step foot anywhere near those dumps
I love my home city of Cleveland. Screw you all. And Go Tribe.
I dunno man St. Loius is bad but it's still a stones throw away from world class museums/library/zoo/art/opportunity.
Detroit is just mile after mile after mile of lawless filth and danger. Only half the population can read. 83,000+ homes don't even have running water. It's just on another level.
And if you drive 30 miles north into Oakland County it's full of educated people living in massive suburban neighborhoods
True, it's really a case of violence vs. sadness and which one you value more. St louis has such a high homicide rate it outranks 99% of all the third world countries and is one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. Detroit is a complete graveyard.
>Stockton
I live there. This place is a literal hellhole. You will not meet more wretched subhumans than here. When I leave this place I'm NEVER coming back. Hopefully Kim Jong Un drops a nuke on it.
eh Indy isnt as bad as Detroit or Chicago but Gary is pretty bad.
Atlanta doesnt deserve to be so high up. Downtown is a shithole, but Midtown is full of yuppies and the suburbs are a ok
Rural towns? Do you mean like those 'towns' with like 3 people in them? I know the US has a categorization that seems weird - here a town is a place with over 10,000 people usually and a city is either in the 100,000s or has had a cathedral.
Can you explain re-zoning? I can't quite understand how it works. I'm surprised America has gastropubs, always thought that was just a thing in the UK and Ireland. I know some are sick of it here because of how ubiquitous they are. I'm guessing your candidates get those fancy shortlists where they HAVE to choose a minority race and/ or female candidate, we get those too (especially with Labour, ruining the party really).
I would only consider going to New Orleans to see where every episode of Kitchen Nightmares takes place. From what I understand Baltimore and DC are public workers right?
For sure you're right about there being rough areas. Aside from small-medium ancient cities its the same here. Isn't Texas undergoing a boom? I mean I worry that the state will turn into California though I can't imagine it being that rough.
iirc Stockon's the band Pavement are from, that automatically makes it a good town. Cincinnati has such an annoying name though I hear that's where they test fast-food products before launching them across the country (forgot what the term is). Never heard of Allens Town, what's that? I always imagine American police go ultra-fast, rush everything and shoot a lot as a result. Mind I know its wrong to assume that, I recall reading a report that showed most of them working 80-hour weeks and being under over-the-top pressure all the time. I don't see why Philadelphia is up there though, I can't imagine the steaks of getting out alive are too low.
Allentown PA not allens town sorry.
Hmm I dunno Atlanta is pretty shit. Says alot about your city when people are getting bagged in what is supposed to be your downtown. And some of the neighborhoods outside of the center city are absolutely horrible.
Dayton is pretty awful, as well.
Almost all the former industrial cities with large black populations are in massive decline. Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago, Buffalo, Gary, Allentown, . Collectively, this is know as the rust belt. Appalachia, and former coal county is also shit. Governments dont do anything about white flight.
fuck me I'm from buffalo
Wait a minute, is it called the 'rust belt' because all the towns are rusting? I just thought it was because they make cars and older ones tend to rust quicker.
The mere existence of Chinese people makes all forms of collective bargaining useless
Yes, the cities are physically falling apart. Empty factories are strewn across my city. Half its population left since 1960. We have fields of rebar with thistles growing out of it.
I legitimately liked Cleveland when I was there. You have to stick to certain places like Tremont, Cedar-Fairmount, Uptown, 4th avenue area, Westside, and the blooming area around Detroid Ave., but there legit is good stuff to be found.
In the hoodest part of Midtown, Hot Sauce Williams shines like a beacon.
Any thoughts on Boston? I'm not an American but I like the way it is portrayed in Lovecraft's works, seems so full of history...
Boston is beautiful, and crowded. If you want highly educated people, Boston is great for that.
I live close to baltimore, it can be dangerous if you're a complete dumbass, but the cop presence is so heavy and militant on the nigger areas that you don't have to worry to much. there's abandoned streets with boarded up row houses n shit. there's a wide radius of safe zone in the middle of the city. it does have character. the cool thing is if you live in the white hipster area around the art school, you can essentially do whatever non-violent shit you want because the cops want you there for economic vitality, gentrification, and to keep niggers from spreading out of their nigger zones
boston is pretty based, lots of american history there and it feels "colonial" the architecture and everything is classical. walden pond is based too. i walked around it. Thoreau was one of the first robots.
Isn't it expensive as hell then considering these factors?
Why do niggers ruin everything
Yes, but not as expensive as New York.
right, if you're not making 60k+ id forget it, despite it being a little cheaper than NY. the northeast coast isn't for chuds.
Boston & Seattle were my two favorite cities when I visited them. Much cleaner and interesting than Atlanta and Detroit
Seattle isn't comparable to Boston. Seattle is on it's way to becoming a Midwestern Barron shithole. The amount of homeless people and junkies are getting out of control
San Francisco. It's so millennial, so normie, and so expensive. At every vantage point there are thirty normies taking photos for social media, every square foot of park is filled with a normie doing yoga or a homeless person. It's overcrowded in every way possible. Tech companies and tech billionaires are worshipped yet the politics are to the left of Mao. Barely saw a single child my whole time there
Basically it's the stereotype of millennials but an entire city
DC isn't all that bad. I drew on a map of the city to outline the different areas. The grey zone is the busy downtown area where all the federal buildings and tourists are. The red zone is predominately nonwhite and where most of the violent crime happens. The green zones are super rich and full of expensive houses, lots of old money. This is about how the map has looked from the 90s to recently, but gentrification is happening a lot so a lot of the red areas are not so bad anymore. Lots of people live in nearby Maryland and Virginia and commute in.
What's so bad about bufallo? I'm Canadian but go there for hockey games sometimes (because it's dirt cheap.compared totoronto). It doesn't seem that bad to me, although I'm always there in the middle of winter so maybe all the panhandlers/thugs aren't out
Are there any non-depressing cities in America? Boston is OK, I guess, but it's cold as fuck most of the year and bostonians are assholes. LA is sprawl central. NYC is filled with bugmen. San Francisco is filled with retarded tech people and rich assholes. Anything in the midwest is decaying. Never been in the PNW but I doubt the city home to the bezos company is going to be comfy. I understand Portland is incredible gentrified and filled with homeless because of it. New Orleans sounds kinda comfy but I imagine it's filled with white boomer tourists most of the year.
midwest cities don't count. That's basically cheating
salt lake city sounds pretty nice. And Boise, Idaho. these places are growing a lot, are situated in beautiful areas, and aren't expensive (yet)
Dayton is way worse than Cleveland, least y'all have crack, we just have fentanyl overdose
Damn son. In Canada it's mostly the opposite; middle class/upperclass everywhere and pockets of bad.spots. I see a downward trend, though. I just bought a starter home in a nice neighborhood, house is a new subdivision though. When my dad visited the first time we were sitting on the porch and I noticed he'd stop mid sentence and just stare at people as they walked by. At the end of the night he said "there's an awful lot of Muslims in this neighborhood...' and my dad's typically not too concerned about racial shit but you could tell he didn't like it.
Another Daytonfag? I think that we should just nuke this city already.
Nah. I've been to Cleveland but Omaha is way worse. It's all of the shitholeness of Cleveland without any of the charm. I saw shit like tranny prostitutes and people smoking crack out of potatoes in broad fucking daylight. And the worst part is it's in fucking Nebraska.
SLC isnt that great. It sits in a desert at a lake with undrinkable water and the city is filled with Mormons.
>Entire Midwest a shit hole
>Agrees with 20 cities posted as shit holes he'd never be near
So where are the nice places? I've been to many us cities on that list and also Chicago, bufallo, Miami, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, new York. None of them were particularly nice. Tbh. Myrtle Beach was okay but I only stayed on the resort when I was there so I dunno if that's an accurate depiction
Unfortunately, yes. I'm down for a nuke any day. Fucking nothing but junkies, slutty fat girls and dealers
>So where are the nice places?
Spokane, Boise, Salt Lake, Phoenix, & Nashville
anyone from wilkes-barre/scranton? industrial/post-coal decay is depressing.
Tell me what you thought of Houston. I've lived here my whole life and liked it, people seem polite and generally nice. The bad areas can be really bad, but it's not like you have to drive thru 5th ward to get anywhere. Worst things I can think of about it are the weather and the traffic, which is it's own kind of weather, but some people seem to genuinely hate my town.
Most of my acquaintances moved out as soon as high school ended. I doubt that I will end up leaving before I die.
Fuck that. I'll be out as soon as I have my money together. Dayton is a venus flytrap
I am stuck, best of luck to you getting out.
It depends on the neighborhood. It's like Jacksonville in the fact that depending on what side of town you go to it can either be a really nice place or a really bad place. Crime isn't terrible there but like you said some of the hood parts are really bad and I can't ignore something like that even if it's segregated from the rest of the city. Overall it's alright, I wouldn't live there but it's not the worst place in the US
>what do local governments do to try and address it?
Man, where to fucking begin.
>blacks flood city because jobs (think 1940s -> 1970s)
>white flee city because of rising crime rates
>constituency of city reaches tipping point of blackness
>blacks vote Democrat 99% of the time
>only Democrat candidates that win primaries are also black
>black politicians' solution to plummeting revenue is "tax whitey more"
>most money ends up lining their pockets
>white people flee because city is going to utter shit
>city has no tax base
>becomes burned out shit hole full of starving blacks
>only whites left are those too poor to flee
It's like a black hole. Once you reach a certain level of non-white, the city collapses in on itself, and you can't do anything to stop it. Every now and then, there are attempts to inject life into these shit holes, but it always fails unless you pull a Giuliani and incarcerate/evict half the city.
From a sociological standpoint, it's very interesting, but if you live in one of these places, it's a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
>only whites left are those too poor to flee
The only whites left in those cities are there because they want to be there. Probably drug dealers and steroid junkies who want to feel gangster without taking responsibility in life. It's very cheap to move out of these places, I've done it before on a minimum wage job so I'd know. People who are there are usually trash who can't get their high in a actual nice city. Blacks are actually discriminated against, a black family can't go to a white city or they'll be treated like criminals and trash. I'm not trying to be a sjw but still.
That certain percentage is close to thirty percent black, maybe lower
Percentage black
Detroit: 82.7
Baltimore: 63.7
St. Louis: 47.6
Flint: 57
Cleveland: 53.3
Cincinnati: 44.5
Chicago: 32
Philadelphia: 44.2
Interestingly, in NYC, it is all kept in check by the other minorities
user, I wish that all this shit was explicable via systemic racism, but it isn't.
You're going to have to come to terms with reality someday.
if you replace the word black with "poor"
and white with "middle-class"
and use corrupt instead of black to refer to the politicians
you could post that without people trying to either make stupid race arguments or saying Jow Forums please leave
Probably ANYwhere in Wyoming and Idaho.
Like it or not, race is the deciding factor when it comes to inner city violence.
It's called the rust belt because when the rest of the planet started to rebuild their industrial base after WW2 people stopped buying our overpriced low quality shit and all of the overpaid manufacturing jobs there died and everyone left, leaving massive "rusting" factories everywhere
Glad to see nobody has listed my particular city in this thread yet. Good to know I'm in one of the few midwestern metropolitan areas not generally considered to be a festering snakepit
and those black people are also poor
you dont see the middleclass blacks doing that
didn't they go bankrupt?
anyways, hard to imagine shitholes exiting in california. For some reason it simply does not compute
See this is why leftists always create shitholes. They just ignore the problem and think filtering words will magically fix things. And I'm really sick of you people calling everything Jow Forums, the whole internet was "Jow Forums" just a few years ago before you word nazis started shoving your shit down everyone's throats, the world was "Jow Forums" and still is, people just wait till you leave so they can discuss reality in private as people will always do
you use the word "shithole"
but I prefer "containment area"
Kek, I've been there (along with every other large city in America), it's always so cute watching people complain about their city when I live in Chicago (cook country). You really don't know how bad things can get.
Actually, i think there's some kind of gentrification switcheroo currently ongoing - wealthy millennials (kek) realized that whites getting the suburbs and blacks getting the city was a shitty deal, fuck lawns and house repair, so they're unconsciously taking it back and pushing blacks out with rising rents and bullshit hipster businesses while consciously and outwardly being all woke liberal SJW and shit
No, it just appears that way. I'm not the guy you were replying too btw. First of all, poverty is often passed down through generations. Given that not too long ago blacks were ACTUALLY opprressed, it's no surprise that blacks are 2x more likely to be in poverty. When it was around like 40% a number of decades ago, there was a lot of gang activity springing up. Originally, people like the crips were made in self defense basically. Community revolution in progress. Wasn't always violent the way you think. The shooting started in the late 60s... The culture was also prevelant in hispanics, and even asians in parts where their numbers were strong. So this probably proves your argument right? White people don't do gang shit? We're superior because our poor don't stoop that low? Lol, nah bro. Think back to the sicilians and even irish who were extrememly violent back in the day. Only reason they went away is because they were able to start making a decent living when the racism faded. It takes a long time for the damage to be undone. With blacks the gang culture became embedded in the mainstream because we literally fucking robbed them of their culture. We literally burned their history, most blacks don't even know where they come from or who their ancestors were. In many cases the records were destroyed, or not even kept in the first place. You know that though...
Tbh we just need to teach the dumb ones to stop associating with gangs. We need programs that teach people how to get out of poverty instead of giving them money. We can fix this, but instead we just blame it on race like this dipshit.
I'm surprised Pittsburgh was spared from the great migration
>overpaid manufacturing jobs there died and everyone left
hold on to your seatbelt bud
Nobody of importance thinks about Minneapolis St. Paul.
>we just need to teach the dumb ones to stop associating with gangs
More useless cliche nonsense from a white kid who has never set food in the ghetto for more than a few minutes.
"Mo money fo dem programs."
It's "civil" enough, I've lived in the more dangerous parts and never got hurt, but it's just a depressing shithole. The people fucking SUCK. They are all rude and overweight. It's drab as hell with ugly concrete buildings and suburban/apartment hellscapes. Hot as fuck during the summer, dreary during the winter. I need to get out of here but I need money to survive without family support.
Lol, you don't know me bro. You yourself have probably never hung around traphouses, gangs, etc. while I actually was around that stuff for years. I know gang members, I've been friends with them. I'm not talking about welfare. I'm talking about education. I'm talking about teaching these kids something they can use to succeed. We need to build up the economies of those areas. Instead we have people shaming amazon and losing out on massive opportunities to fund dying infrastructure.
isn't the Military an easy path to middle class in USA and they take basically anyone right out of highschool?
t. retarded yuro who his .gov job thru nepotism
As long as you don't have a warrant or a assault than yeah. But training is hard and america has one big war just about every 10 years. War on terror sent thousands to die and it's not unlikely for it to happen again sometime soon. Also you're stuck in there for 4 years and you're guaranteed to come out of it with some sort of mania/depression. Military just sucks desu
Fuck you OP, I live in Cleveland and love it here
Akron is more depressing. And alot more fucking boring
>join military
>get to die for israhell in iran in a year
no thanks, also
for all of these reasons I'm avoiding the military even though it's a simple solution, I don't want to do that, I'd rather teach myself a skill while saving money working a few jobs and eventually leave this shithole with gusto
Also, if any of you robots are in the Cleveland area, be sure to check out Common Grounds on the west side. It's a 24 hr coffee shop that basically serves as a haven for shutins and filthy fucking NEET's
yeah but this is the year for the Browns
You perfectly described NYC
why is america, the richest country on the planet, such a dangerous place to live in?. if you go to the "bad" side of town where I live, the worst thing that could happen to you is you might get pickpocketed
>The blacks here are some of the most aggressive hoodrats you'll see in the country
Cleveland niggers are some of the most docile and lazy niggers in the country, actually.
>where one black is a major difference in safety.
One black person or one black area?
Seconded, I was on a contract job for a few days there
>get the nicest hotel in town
>wake up at 12a with a roach in my face
>walk down to the office to complain, as I walk outside a middle-aged hooker tries desperately to sell herself
>pass my truck on the walk as well, somebody threw a pizza onto the hood in the couple hours it's been parked there
>truck full of frat boys drives by, they've finished with this night's hooker and drop her back off at the motel I'm at
I slept in the back of my truck for the rest of that job.
