The entire urban Midwest has been ravaged by capitalism. Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis. They're all shitholes because all of their factories abandoned and left people with no jobs.

Flint, Pontiac MI and Rockford IL.

Detroit is scary and cool. Cities like Cleveland/Philly/Balimore are gritty and have character. They have history and things to do.

Towards the top to have cities that have completely abandoned neighborhoods (exception the bronx) Mass organized gangs you can get illegal guns for less than 50$, potholes city poverty and lots of blacks. Towards the bottom it's more the usual levels of danger, don't go out past night, keep all money on cards, never walk alone and always carry some sort of weapon. Strict police and drive byes are common here because law and order is still in place. Police reports in Detroit and Cleveland hardly get filled and acted on because there's so much crime and the country can't bring the FBI out every time a petty murder happens. It falls on the police which are usually incompetent unless we're talking about NYPD or LAPD. I work for Metlife I live in Florida but I travel from state to state nearly every week for work so I thought I'd answer this for all who is wondering. Also I didn't include upstate NY because literally every city can apply for the list even small towns.

Rural towns? Do you mean like those 'towns' with like 3 people in them? I know the US has a categorization that seems weird - here a town is a place with over 10,000 people usually and a city is either in the 100,000s or has had a cathedral.

iirc Stockon's the band Pavement are from, that automatically makes it a good town. Cincinnati has such an annoying name though I hear that's where they test fast-food products before launching them across the country (forgot what the term is). Never heard of Allens Town, what's that? I always imagine American police go ultra-fast, rush everything and shoot a lot as a result. Mind I know its wrong to assume that, I recall reading a report that showed most of them working 80-hour weeks and being under over-the-top pressure all the time. I don't see why Philadelphia is up there though, I can't imagine the steaks of getting out alive are too low.

Collectively, this is know as the rust belt. Appalachia, and former coal county is also shit. Governments dont do anything about white flight.

Yes, the cities are physically falling apart. Empty factories are strewn across my city. Half its population left since 1960. We have fields of rebar with thistles growing out of it.

I legitimately liked Cleveland when I was there. You have to stick to certain places like Tremont, Cedar-Fairmount, Uptown, 4th avenue area, Westside, and the blooming area around Detroid Ave., but there legit is good stuff to be found.

In the hoodest part of Midtown, Hot Sauce Williams shines like a beacon.

Boston is beautiful, and crowded. If you want highly educated people, Boston is great for that.

I live close to baltimore, it can be dangerous if you're a complete dumbass, but the cop presence is so heavy and militant on the nigger areas that you don't have to worry to much. there's abandoned streets with boarded up row houses n shit. there's a wide radius of safe zone in the middle of the city. it does have character. the cool thing is if you live in the white hipster area around the art school, you can essentially do whatever non-violent shit you want because the cops want you there for economic vitality, gentrification, and to keep niggers from spreading out of their nigger zones

boston is pretty based, lots of american history there and it feels "colonial" the architecture and everything is classical. walden pond is based too. i walked around it. Thoreau was one of the first robots.

Boston & Seattle were my two favorite cities when I visited them. Much cleaner and interesting than Atlanta and Detroit

DC isn't all that bad. I drew on a map of the city to outline the different areas. The grey zone is the busy downtown area where all the federal buildings and tourists are. The red zone is predominately nonwhite and where most of the violent crime happens. The green zones are super rich and full of expensive houses, lots of old money. This is about how the map has looked from the 90s to recently, but gentrification is happening a lot so a lot of the red areas are not so bad anymore. Lots of people live in nearby Maryland and Virginia and commute in.

What's so bad about bufallo? I'm Canadian but go there for hockey games sometimes (because it's dirt cheap.compared totoronto). It doesn't seem that bad to me, although I'm always there in the middle of winter so maybe all the panhandlers/thugs aren't out

Tell me what you thought of Houston. I've lived here my whole life and liked it, people seem polite and generally nice. The bad areas can be really bad, but it's not like you have to drive thru 5th ward to get anywhere. Worst things I can think of about it are the weather and the traffic, which is it's own kind of weather, but some people seem to genuinely hate my town.

Most of my acquaintances moved out as soon as high school ended. I doubt that I will end up leaving before I die.

It depends on the neighborhood. It's like Jacksonville in the fact that depending on what side of town you go to it can either be a really nice place or a really bad place. Crime isn't terrible there but like you said some of the hood parts are really bad and I can't ignore something like that even if it's segregated from the rest of the city. Overall it's alright, I wouldn't live there but it's not the worst place in the US

It's like a black hole. Once you reach a certain level of non-white, the city collapses in on itself, and you can't do anything to stop it. Every now and then, there are attempts to inject life into these shit holes, but it always fails unless you pull a Giuliani and incarcerate/evict half the city.

From a sociological standpoint, it's very interesting, but if you live in one of these places, it's a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
