because unironically society is slowly collapsing and is not sustainable in its current state in the foreseeable future anymore. it's not just about sex, it's a lot to do with peoples happiness, loneliness, 1000 other things. society is just fucked because people refuse to believe in unintended consequences of things they consider good that go well beyond their conscious thoughts on it.

Societal pressures for getting a gf/bf are dwindling.
The financial benefits of having a gf/bf are not so strong
There is no longer a need to have children (a hundred years ago children were a financial boon. Now they're a sunk cost)
Everyone has higher standards than before (even you).
We have distractions. We have TV shows, movies, VIDEO GAMES, and Jow Forums to keep us occupied.
The novelty of sex is wearing off now that it's so easy to get unless you're a 0/10
