The world is definitely going down the shitter, but unfortunately we can't expect a total collapse any time soon.
The problem is that capitalism is too adaptive and allows at least a portion of the population to remain productive even under very destructive circumstances. Socialism is less durable, but even the Soviet Union managed to keep standing for 70ish years.
Look at it this way: Venezuela hasn't totally collapsed. That means that conditions in North America, Europe, and the Far East would have to become worse - potentially significantly worse - than they currently are in Venezuela for there to be a "total collapse". That's pretty far off.
