>graduated in chemical engineering >2 internships >summa cum laude >applied to 200 jobs within last 2 months >4 "phone screens" all ghosted me after asking yes no questions about whether im allowed to work in the country to which i give correct answers to >hear about other people getting high salary jobs with 0 experience and low gpas
What the fuck am i doing wrong? I feel like companies only hire friends/family, women and minorities
>chemical engineer And here we have the problem. Market is flooded with chemists, the job-opportunities is horrible, at least here in germany.
Lincoln Murphy
LMAO at your life right now OP. I studied scoiology and now I work in finance comfy office work getting paid with full bennies.
>b-b-but muh gpa >b-but muh stem degree I hope you aren't a virgin too goddammit
Kayden Wood
>HOW THE FUCK DO I GET A JOB just be yourself
Asher Hall
>I studied scoiology and now I work in finance how does that work? does finance just hire anyone?
Carter Young
>apply to hundreds of jobs after hs >would spend a at least 2 hours job searching online and applying >"son-user, you arent even trying to get a job. You have 3 months to find something or get out" >cant find job >say fuck it and join military >get free job after 3 weeks
Its easy
Jonathan Reyes
i contemplate joining the military many times. i just dont want to risk dying for israel
Gavin Powell
They hire people like me who get shit done not losers like you. I see more money in a day than you will see in the next ten years
Nolan Scott
Being a stemfag is such a meme. If you wanna get somewhere in this world, you gotta start your own business
Mason Young
Most Jobs are gotten through nepotism or hiring programs for minorities, you fell for the hard work meme.
Daniel Cooper
>people like me elaborate. did you just have connections? how do you prove you get shit done? youre prob larping but ill bit the bait
Jason Nguyen
>does finance just hire anyone? yes, you're more likely to get a job if you're jewish or have connections, but they'll hire pretty much anyone. Jeffery Epstien was a calculus teacher at a Jewish high school then of his student's father liked him and hired him to manage a hedge fund. t. math major, worked in finance for a few years now
Cooper Peterson
my hatred for minorities and women increases with every "are you hispanic/latino" i fill out
John Cox
Can you synthesize LSD, DMT and 4-AcO-DMT OP? You can easily make 50k a month. Does chemical engineering mean you are a chemist?
Wyatt Roberts
This, OP sell DMT on tor
Connor Stewart
>chemical engineering no one wants a fancy chemist all they need is a drone that knows microsoft word and excel
Nathan Diaz
>graduate >haven't got a job since >now even if I get an interview I would have to explain why I hadn't used my degree for two years >also 30k in debt College should be abolished
Mason Ward
God you must be one of the kids that watched breaking bad and thought that they knew everything about the drug trade because of it, fuck off
William Price
I hate the job market so much, Its such a shameful process being told that someone isn't even willing to buy your labor because no one was willing to buy it for the past 2 years.
Grayson Bell
God you must be an insufferable niggerfaggot. Neurotoxic stimulants aren't my thing and i never watched niggerbad in my life, homo.
Kevin Murphy
>Neurotoxic stimulants Neither DMT or LSD is a neurotoxic stimulant
Nolan Mitchell
meth is you fuckin faggot. Why would i watch a show about a fucking faggot that produces meth??????
Levi Lee
been applying for jobs since january and got nothing. had 2 interviews that didn't go well.
it's been over 6 months since i had full time paying work and i genuinely wonder if i'll ever be able to find a job ever again.
Oliver White
Chem engineer here. I recently got a job as a police officer. I needed the money and didn't care about dying. Maybe you should too.
I'm honestly the happiest I've ever been in my whole life now. I just live a comfy life in the countryside patrolling a small town.
Get out of the rat race user, just enjoy life in it's simple form.
been 2 months for me. i feel like it will be 2 years in the blink of an eye.
Matthew Rivera
If by connections you mean I had a brother who worked in the office before I did, then yes that is how I got my foot in the door as the old-timers say. But if I didn't prove that I could get shit done I would have been let go from my position pretty quickly, but I get shit done and my company makes a lot of money.
Hudson Clark
contemplated being a police officer. i guess my ego is preventing me. How did you get into it? i feel like they prefer high school graduates
Juan Torres
>been 2 months for me. i feel like it will be 2 years in the blink of an eye.
honestly, i am absolutely astounded how quickly the past almost 7 months have flown by
Hudson Nelson
Be honest with me. What have you even done after spending 100k on education? Was it all a waste? A time pass?
Benjamin Allen
yeah once you get in its pretty easy because work life isnt difficult. you just got in through nepotism
Daniel Edwards
I just applied to be one. Always wanted to be a detective on murder cases. Watched a lot of Columbo and serial killer docs
Nicholas Nguyen
>i guess my ego is preventing me Why? Police officers are perfectly competent people.
>How did you get into it? Just submit your application to their personnel center. Pass the tests and go to the police academy.
i mean salary wise my ego would be hurt. job wise i think being a cop is super chadlike.
does police academy cost money? how fit do i need to be?
Blake Brown
There is a Burger King nearby looking for a porter, and I am just trying to save some money to get a car. Not even a fancy one, just a functional beater that can get me the fuck out of here. I know its food stuff so by default it will suck, but from what I have read porters just clean stuff. Anyone have experience with that kind of thing?
Jose Jenkins
>Poor me, it's those damn wimmin and minorities' fault I don't have a job
Gabriel Bell
Which european taxation shithole is this cum guzzling niggerfaggot bitch
Eli Robinson
Amazon warehouses don't interview for tier 1 jobs and will hire literally anyone They hired me despite only ever working one job prior and a 3 year gap in my employment history I make $16.35/hr
Daniel Barnes
The salary is great if you life on the countryside. So are the working hours. The Academy itself does not cost money, but you might have to pay for your living costs in wherever where the academy is at. Some places require you to rent something.
how much do you get paid? also how long till you get a living wage?
Joshua Price
That's not true I'm a minority and I can't get shit faggot.
Camden Anderson
Ya sure, maybe other people's money you arrogant cunt
Jack Gray
>5 years work experience as web dev >degree from top ranked uni in state >applied to over 1000 places
still took me 11 months to get ONE job offer. a pathetic $19/hr programming (java and js) job
i hate it every day
Josiah Diaz
You fucking make more than I do and I'm an electronic repair tech.
Jeremiah Gomez
man that just doesn't sound right.
Do you know SQL? Or Pandas? Data analysis might be a good path. You can earn 6 figure salary easily just by being able to write queries and put together dashboards in Tableau or whatever. Easy shit.
Owen Mitchell
>man that just doesn't sound right. it does because i have an economics meme degree
>Do you know SQL? yes
>Or Pandas? no
>Data analysis might be a good path. You can earn 6 figure salary easily just by being able to write queries and put together dashboards in Tableau or whatever. Easy shit. who would hire me?
Nolan Russell
>summa cum laude
Some cum louder?
Kevin Collins
Should've done CS. ChE is a boomer meme. But also consider that the companies you apply to might be looking for someone more 'average'. With summa cum laude, you might be too much of a high flyer for them. Who wants to train somebody and give them a bunch of responsibility only for them to go back to grad school in two years because they're bored and they don't want to live in a random small town anymore. Many such cases...
Anyway, if you went to an okay school, you have more options than you think. Grad school will be paid for if you want it, and you can hop up to a higher-tier institution. PhD from a top 20 school opens the door to everything from data science to consulting to finance.
-t. starting a postdoc abroad in a few weeks
Jordan Rivera
getting that first gig is always the hardest. I know my company hired a girl last year who was fresh out of school (started a few months before i did). she had zero experience working with data, but was able to pick it up very quickly. Now she's already leaving for a better job. Once you are able to get some hands-on experience you'll probably find it comes very easily
if you can demonstrate at least intermediate level SQL knowledge (joins, table expressions, correlated subqueries, window functions, etc), and study up on data wrangling, data visualization & learn common tools like pandas that might be enough to get you an interview. Data Camp has low cost education material that covers all of that stuff. Add to that your programming experience and you sound like a pretty solid candidate.
i also have an economics meme degree fwiw
Robert Cook
You a CS post-doc? How much you make?
Owen Jones
yeah if i coudl do it again i wouldve done CS. should i remove my honors from my resume?
im considering phd but idk if i wasnt close with my professors except for like 2 because i was doing co-ops and research
Lucas Roberts
I'm in materials science and I don't make shit, that's not the point (I'm doing the "do want you want" meme). The point is that I could be interviewing for 160k/yr consulting/finance jobs, and if I was in CS, that's pretty much the average starting salary from my uni with a PhD.
Owen Miller
I'm a straight white high school dropout and I make 70k. You have to learn to be social and likeable.
Charles Jackson
I wasn't close with professors either, and I was about a 3.8 average, but I did do really well on the GRE, and my undergrad was reputable.
Nathaniel Edwards
Would you say your major is worth the hassle ? I've just made past the first period of chemical engineering and i'm beginning to doubt if i'm just wasting my time.
Carson Wright
AHHHHHHHHHHH HOW THE FUCK DO I GET EMPLOYED?
>6 years working as an aircraft mechanic for the airforce >University degree >Fall for the travel meme >Cant even get a McJob
>Would you say your major is worth the hassle no. get out asap. switch to compsci, finance, accounting. if you really want to do engineering, do industrial or civil. not only are those easy enigneering majors but theyre employable as fuck. chemical just fucking sucks rn and going to suck more in 4 years.
Ryan Gray
Literally how? you could have gotten your A&P for free by that point and be smooth sailing
Not American so we do things differently. If i want the equivalent of an A&P (LAME) I will need to go to a third party tech school, do a course on a specific aircraft type, get a job with a civilian company then pay big dollars to the same school to sit exams for the course.
Robert Flores
>4 "phone screens" all ghosted me after asking yes no questions about whether im allowed to work in the country to which i give correct answers to
>t. Zhongshang Zhang
I hope you're not an American, this shit scares me
Christian Evans
My condolences, since you posted about a McJob I assumed you lived in Freedomland. I am about in the same boat in terms of being a six year aircraft mechanic in the airforce but I'm three years into my enlistment. Why do you say traveling fucked you up? is it just because of the gap in your resume?
>You have to learn to be social and likeable. Fuck that, i dislike humans and their gross "socializing" thing. I'm not a gross hippie who looks at faces and is happy all the time. I'll just join the military
Lincoln Gutierrez
I've been in seven years. The benefits are great man. I've lived in Australia, San Diego and Maryland. I don't regret it one bit. I would actually stay in 20 but I'm getting medically retired
William Harris
>dishwashing yes >cashier NO
Connor Perez
Thank Christ, I would much rather clean shit than deal with the shit that walks in. Just need some cash for schooling and the like.
Daniel King
dishwashing is based, you just listen to music and wash dishes
Thomas Robinson
I am american. if youre not american you need to get out of our country tbqh. for your own good too. no company will hire you here anymore when the competition sucks enough with US citizen
Luke Russell
I am a US born white american. I fucking wish i could leave this country because jobs are everywhere in UK, CAN, and Europe. I highkey want a job in middle east because they treat white engineers like royalty. but all require a few years of work experience first
Michael Lopez
>tfw get job instantly out of school > gpa sub 3.0 > minority > 90k+ to start > currently on medical leave for 16 weeks and still getting paid > lmao at trump wall > salvi here :D
>i feel like it will be 2 years in the blink of an eye.
I'm here user, and it ain't pretty. Keep applying to shit all over the place, even consider moving or going overseas to work. I heard Australia and New Zealand have holiday visa work programs, and of course there is TEFL. Just please fucking take something, even if it isn't the best, think about people like me that have been actively rejected and even blacklisted by corporations for trying to lie my way into a job.
Julian Rodriguez
ive been applying out of state. i actually prefer out of state. out of US would be hard because most places require work experience to approve for a visa but id love to leave where i am now and start a new life. just no opportunities in this oversaturated market
Christian Garcia
Most places do want experience, but the things I mentioned do it. I'm currently trying those avenues as well as the military, whichever ends up ready to go first is the one I'll be taking.
Either way, good luck to you. We're all gonna make it.... right?
Henry Ward
Every job requires teamwork. You'll have to grow up eventually.
Camden Price
You wont die if you arent retarded. Get a desk job in finance or something
Christian Martin
what job did you get user. please answer me
Tyler Thompson
he's probably the receptionist, kek
Hudson Smith
Unless you already have mid to senior level experience in a valuable tech discipline you're not going to get interviews out of state. The job market right now for anything that requires college is super saturated and they can find a million local candidates that can start next day
Jason Scott
ive got nothing from local places. the phone screens i got were all out of state from big companies that have no problem paying for relocation. Plus i have enough saved to relocate and mention it if they ask about it. Im quite frankly a competitive applicant, i think i get overlooked because companies want a dumbass who they know will settle long term because they wont get other offers like this guy mentioned like small local places dont even reject me right off the bat.
Ayden Richardson
Not at all. I work for an engineering firm and not one coworker got hired this way.
Justin Stewart
I love that this is true and i've seen this play out a lot basically all the white non faggots end up starting businesses and then they only hire based of merit, if it was any other class or group they'd be fucked its a total projection from the bigoted left.
Dominic Perez
>went to college to study physical therapy/physiotherapy after mother persuaded me >proceed to perform mediocrely in studies due to social isolation, severe depression, and misery, but did relatively well in major courses >extra schooling is incredibly expensive and extremely competitive (sub 20% acceptance rates) >5 years since graduating college, havent even been able to get into community college programs >have been a garbage paid office assistant in a hospital because these programs specifically said they look for these jobs in their applications which is clearly a lie >barely developed any real transferrable skills because in healthcare you have to go to specialty programs to do anything >didn't even get the typical "get your foot in the door, learn skills, and work your way up/out, who cares about your GPA, work experience is more important" type of field >feel like a complete retard every day, especially around people +- 5 years from me already successful >have zero idea what kind of job to look for now
It's really unbelievable that even as a complete loser in every other aspect of my life, I couldn't even have the decency to be smart enough to do computer or engineering related stuff like the other robots like me. I always hear about people with random degrees getting jobs in completely other fields. I don't even know what to look for.
Kevin Watson
what i wish i did physical therapy. my cousin did it and got an offer to work for 70k. she decided to do a masters and now her offer went up to 90k.
Brandon Harris
great. so happy for her she was able to get into the program and her life wasnt ruined by choosing to try to go into it like mine was.
Christian Hughes
>major in English lit cause I like reading and writing >have a blast in college cause my classes aren't stressful >graduate cum laude with zero debt because parents paid for school >friend hooks me up with a comfy 60k/y job a couple years after school Man I love being from upper middle class white society.
Asher Moore
lmao that sucks but hilarious at how absurd the whole situation is
Ethan Parker
Chem E shits on that, and you have more upward mobility than masseur -> manager of masseurs
Luke Russell
unironically this; If you can find a job as a dishwasher/pizza deliverer you can make bank off tips and get that sweet hourly. Did that for a few years from Junior year HS to graduating.
if you are so qualified, maybe take confidence in what you're worth and apply yourself in an area of your field that is of the highest caliber? instead of being a loser about it, why not revolutionize what it is you do or study, instead of wasting your time. that is why you went to school, right? unless you actually thought that you could just get some stupid job with no meaning without being a brainless person who is easy to control. if that were the case, maybe you should work on your people skills that make you a more desireable slave
