First about me

First about me
>Tried hard in HS, but was never great at it. Studied hard, did the extra credit, but B- all the way.
>Went to the closest university but halfway through sophomore year the advisors told me I should "move on" so I dropped out.
>Mom and Dad were very disappointed and said I had to get a job. This is after the refused to let me get a job before because I had to "focus on my education"
>No experience, no skills, no degree. I was sending out 2-3 applications every day and getting nothing back
>After 6 months dad took me to an employment agency and I did shit jobs like loading trucks and hauling trash, a day at a time, for minimum wage.
>Then they got me a permanent job as janitor at a diesel mechanic shop. Only $8/hr, but benefits
>My parents said if I saved I didn't owe them rent or for food, I I literally save everything. I bike to the local park n ride and take the bus. My plan is to get enough to buy a simple, reliable car then go for a tiny house in a cheap area.
>I was working there for about six months when my dad starting getting on me;
>'ask for a raise. Just go in there, look him in the eye, point out that you have never even been late, and ask for more money."
>I never do. The manager is ex-army, a mechanic, he's huge and he boxes. He literally terrifies me.
>But on my one year anniversary the boss called me into his office,
>"user, you've never been written up and are never late, so you get your annual raise. Keep it up!"
>Went to $8.50/hour

>Dad told me 'see? I told you asking would work"
>Kept the truth to myself

>About 3 months later this big guy I never saw before came into the bays. 6' 2", broad shoulders, bright blue eyes, in great shape. He was carrying some papers. He walked right up to me and said in a really deep voice "where's the manager, please?"
>I pointed. he walked over, knocked on the door, and the manager called him in. I was right there, mopping.
>The guy, call him Chad, shook the manager's hand, looked him in the eye, and said "I'd like to have a job, I'd be a great asset."
>The manager laughed a little and shut the door.
>Ten minutes later Chad walked out and the manager was telling him to start the next Monday.
>over the next few weeks I learned
>Chad had been homeschooled by his stay at home mom and his dad, who owned his own IT firm. Chad started university at 16 and got his associates just before he turned 18 and had also become a certified diesel mechanic as part of that.
>The day I met him was the day after he turned 18 and could legally work as a mechanic. Where I worked was the first place he tried. He started at just $16/hr because of his age and lack of experience.
>Over the next three years he kept getting more certifications= raises. The boss sent him to CDL training = more raises.
>Chad was friendly, charming, and everyone liked him. He was super polite. Late on Fridays he'd even help me clean up so I could get off work before the last bus.
>I got my raises for time worked. After 3 years I was making $11/hr, my max for the job until I hit 6 years. I saw on paperwork (I took out the trash) he was up to $24/hr.
>The day after he turned 21 he gave two weeks notice

>That was about 9 months ago.
>Not too long after that I decided to buy a car. I paid cash and got a new Mazda 6; reliable, nice, worth the money. I don't even drive it to work. In about 6 more months I'll have the down payment to get the tiny house and lot I want so my payment, utilities, insurance, etc. will all be within my budget.
>Chad came by today. In a new e-class. He was in slacks, a dress shirt, and a tie. he'd grown a beard and looks a lot older than 21 almost 22.
>He stopped to talk to me on his way in. Once he turned 21 he got a job as a commercial truck salesman. With his background as a mechanic and driver and his connections he was doing "very well"; his first commission check paid for the e-class. He was there actually on a sales call to the boss to close a deal for 2 big rigs and 5 box trucks.
>After 30 minutes with the boss they both came out, smiling, and went to the break area outside to smoke some cigars Chad had brought. They talked for a long time, then Chad left.
My dad told me again and again
'Just walk up to the manager, look him in the eye, give him a firm handshake, and tell him you want a job. It works."
It does robots, it does.
Just not for us

You actually think i'm gonna read your 1000 word sob story? Fucking hell just do Chad a favor and eliminate his competition.

You literally never even tried asking, you absolute brainlet. God you people are scared little faggots.

I am very far from a Chad and asked for a raise after like 2 months and got it. And I wasn't even good at my job, I mostly slacked of and was so shit at my job I got fired 2 year later and even I got a raise. You are just a pussy.

1) you did
2) we cannot compete

Congrats on getting that huge raise. Keep it up for 30 years and you will have a good wage, that's how the boomers did it and you are jealous of them so just do it

Not everyone has the gumption to be a salesman, and not everyone has the diligence and mechanical minding to work on engines. Some people are short some people are tall some people are naturally extroverted some people are naturally introverted some people have excellent lateral thinking other people are uncreative and stupid.

In all likelihood your parents were probably Boomers that didn't realize their child was slightly introverted and I had no idea how to raise you with that in mind. It's really hard to pursue passions and skills that can develop into a career or help you be a well-adjusted adult if your parents do nothing to foster your strengths or support you when you suffer weaknesses.

You're still young though and it's never too late to turn things around find something to be passionate about first.

>a lot older than 21 almost 22

>I'm nearly 26
>I work at a grocery store and a weekly janitor (about $200 a week)
>live at home
>have a car (can't drive because of suspensions)
>no friends or girlfriend
>finished my associates degree for general studies
>nothing came from it
>almost a senior in my bachelors degree in social work
>no hope for after school
