I dont hate reddit, the sign up does not bother me given you do not need a legit email although I do not like the culture where people look through your comments. For me it is simply too fast or popular

I do not get to discuss anything unless I am one of the first comments, I do not get to propose an opinion that is unpopular or it will not be seen. I do not mean offensive opinions but rather once I was trying to discuss Jason Kidd as a top 5 point guard of all time

I received so many dislikes that my follow up post with stats supporting my reasoning was completely lost in the interaction. I think the culture is you use the likes and dislikes to determine what is worth reading and what is not, which does not work for me because it is hive mind rather than any fun discourse

Mods tend to ban people over trivial shit, upvote system makes sure that popular opinions get the most attention which creates circle-jerks, when your karma points get below 0 you have 15 minute cooldowns between posts, most of the subs don't let you even post if your karma points are below a certain threshold or if your account is new (which also means you can't just make a new account when you get banned). And, personally, I find most of the people there genuinely obnoxious, regardless of the sub.

The problem is the userbase and mods. Here's the main difference between reddit and Jow Forums:

Reddit users are well-adjusted professionals, students, and normies, who occasionally hop onto the internet to engage in some fun healthy intellectual discussion with other internet users

Jow Forums users are outcasts, crazies, freaks, and autists with no friends who enjoy talking about wacky stuff and acting free-spirited

Another issue is if you post on one board you can be banned from dozens of other boards instantaneously. The Donald for instance is one of these boards, which is funny given I am not a Trump supporter.

It's censorship is worse, you must log on, the point system is pro-censorship in the worst normalfaggy shaming tactic way, it's spread so thin there's no traffic so you feel lonely, they censor and are normalfaggots, it's lonely, they steal all content, after a day or two no one will remember your archived post, even if archived people still delete the comments, full of norms and censoring, did I mention they're normalfags that censor and it's not for the anti-social?

Plus they were just as pedo and abnormalfaggot in general as Jow Forums but pretend not to be. We're invaded, but they're just ridiculous. Soon their piracy sub will be banned too they say. They take down fat people hate, incel sub, then try to hide such subs from being searched, then took down death vidoes form watchpeopledie, etc. They're ever more gay but at a rate much higher than here due to reddit being more marketable. Traffic means cost, cost means need advertising or no longer anonymous so useless site, ad agencies make money by (supposedly) being politically correct.

Yeah, they tend to delete all the controversial subs as well.

the point system is the major issue. With points, the threads which get the most visibility are the most agreeable ones, not necessarily the ones that are best for discussion. With a bump system the threads that get the most visibility are the ones that produce the most discussion, which are usually not the most agreeable posts.

I tried reddit once, I asked about buying a house in japan. I was having a nice conversation until some random popped in and said I was a retarded and that I need a visa to buy a house(not true). When I told him he was wrong I was banned indefinitely from not only that board but most of the japan related boards. I tried to appeal the next day and was muted from messaging the mods on all of those boards. I also randomly got banned from a few political boards that I never even posted in. And can you believe thye think we are bad guys?

everyone I know who frequents reddit is a snarky asshole. One time I tried reddit myself and the mod god complexes got me off quick. Plus subreddits like meirl treat their shit memes way too seriously.

Found out about rebbit because it became the bogeyman on /v/ in 2012-ish. Browse it at work every day, because well not going to browse Jow Forums at work. I can waste a good 2 hours twice a day reading random shit from reddit.

I don't really hate reddit all that much. I mainly go on there for either porn or military/combat footage and the occasional meme (although most of it is normie shit). For the most part people on Jow Forums hate reddit because it's user base is pretty much the polar opposite of Jow Forums's, they're normal, well adjusted citizens of society whereas most ppl on Jow Forums are loners, doomer, neets, or degenerates.

Mods will ban you for the smallest things. I remember a couple years back I made a joke on r/4han and some faggot replies saying that I used the joke wrong. We ended up getting into a little argument over who was right and the next day I was notified that I was banned for a month. I tried talking to the mods about it explaining the situation and they tried pulling the old "DUUR I WAS ABOUT TO UN BAN YOU ACKTUALLY BUT SINCE YOU'RE WHINING YOU CAN STAY BANNED". I literally wasn't even whining, just explaining the situation to give some concrete context.

I've only ever used reddit for a few closed communities based around games where they decided to use a subreddit as a forum. Though, even then it was absolutely abysmal so I don't touch reddit at all anymore. I remember making some joke about some typo in the game and everyone starting getting angry and downvoting my post. I told them it was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously. Apparently I forgot to add the "Joke" tag and the "Shitpost" tags to my post (first time posting and there were lots of different tags so I missed these ones).

When I see people talking on reddit they don't feel like real people. Lots of the stuff on reddit feels very unnatural and forced like it's all fake.

That's one think I hate about reddit as well. They steal culture from places like Jow Forums and Twitter and water it down so that retards can enjoy it and then whine when places like instagram take their culture.

Reddit is a terrible place to have a discussion about anything because every single sub-reddit is a circle jerk and echo chamber. At least here I can have a discussion about anything and whilst some will just troll, others will reply and it doesn't matter who I am.

I've tried having a discussion about politics/news on Reddit and been called a racist even though I'm not white, I can have that same discussion here and whilst I'll get some form of racial abuse I'll be able to have a conversation (though talking about politics/religion/news etc. on the internet is aids).

The ONLY thing Reddit is good for is advice (tech tips or DIY, not personal advice) and meeting people. I've met 3 people on /soc/, 1 tried to kill me, 1 stole from me and the last was the most disgusting person on the planet. On the other hand I've had a great time meeting people from Reddit at social drinking events. Not the dating sites like r4r or FAdating; those are aids.
