There is little to no scientific studies about this subject, the "statistics" all use self-reported data which is unreliable. The myth of the "lonely old man is sad", women are happier single" all come from feminists or feminist-allied sources. It is not surprising that they push this idea: If women are happy single, and men are sad single, then it means that women are the ones in power in relationship; they don't need you, you need them, so you better do what the says. It's just another attempt at controlling men.
