1) While technically possible for us to live without eating meat, it's really inconvienient, especially if you don't have many options for protien. Humans also were designed to eat meat (see canine teeth), so avoiding it because you feel bad for the animals feels silly. That brings me to...
2) As soon as animals stop eating each other, I'll stop eating them. We are still creatures, despite living at the top of the foodchain and having the option to choose what we eat. Don't imagine for a second that if chimps became the dominant species they wouldn't also dine on meat
3) Meat tastes good. I like to eat it, and there is nothing wrong with that. Maybe I wish people were nicer to the animals before they died, and thanked them for giving their life, but they don't, and that won't change. That's life.

Farm Animals don't feel trapped because they've never known a world outside of the cage, you can't miss what you never had. A decent farm life is much better than the wild. All day they just chill out and eat, while in the wild they are in danger from the elements, go hungry for days and live in constant fear from carnivores, everything in the wild they experience is several times worse than a farm. All other carnivores in the wild rip will them apart while still alive whereas we kill them instantly with a bolt through the brain.
