Why do Americans think it's ok that all advice on dealing with police sounds similar to advice on dealing with a stray dog?

Throw them a milk bone?

Act friendly and if they come to you pat their head?

Ignore them and if they start chasing you stand your ground?

That advice applies to police no matter what. If you're dealing with police for any reason whatsoever, you're either only briefly interacting with them in a healthy way (passing in the street or otherwise having no real professional interaction), or you're in serious trouble already.

The possible reasons you're interacting with an officer acting in a professional context:
1) You've had a crime committed against you
2) You've committed a crime
3) You're suspected of having committed a crime
4) You're suspected of having some information related to a crime (being questioned)

Everything on that list is bad. You do not want ANY of those to be true, EVER.

That said, I've spoken to officers in non-professional contexts a number of times and they're mostly just ordinary people doing a super shitty job... they're sort of like the shelf stocker at walmart or something that gets attacked by some fat landwhale because the special on discount muffins ended yesterday "THE ADVERTISEMENT SAID 4.99 BUT THESE ARE FUCKING WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, NO WAY I'M PAYING 5.99 FUCK YOU!!!"

It's a shame walmart shelf stockers aren't allowed to carry tasers.

because a large part of our police force are absolute pussies that signed up to be able to beat down the vulnerable and make themselves feel like a hero. theyre constantly afraid of getting shot becuase theyre not cut out to do the job, they just wanted a uniform and a badge.

>It's a shame walmart shelf stockers aren't allowed to carry tasers.
how is it you know our plight?

this is the only true original answer

>with a stray dog
a better analogy would be dealing with a black man that has a diamond earring
no doubt hes got a gun and a trigger finger!

Officers here aren't afraid of getting shot because carrying a hand gun in public is illegal.

Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm:
Minimum: 3 years
Maximum: 10 years
Summary conviction maximum: 1 year

I've never seen a cop act violently any time in my entire life. I've seen them surround a building and escort a guy out of the building (suspected break and enter), absolutely no violence, all 100% friendly and calm.

I've been in a suspected break and enter myself. I had a nice chat with the cops on the lawn while they questioned me and a friend and asked "so what did you use to enter the building?", and my friend said "you mean this key?" :D

That's also a good thing though: suspicious neighbors aren't bad, it means real break and enters happen a lot less frequently because nobody is afraid to call the cops, the cops aren't afraid of being shot, and nobody is afraid of being shot or beaten by a cop until they assault the cop themselves first.

The problem is the society in some countries *mumble mumble* is like an authoritarian ghetto nazi shithole.

I have seen it all. From officer sacrificing himself protecting someone to a faggot who shot unarmed innocent child. Bandits, racketeers, heroes, neutral, corrupt, incorruptible. Most of officers are just a regular persons.

>don't break the law and there's no problems
Don't see the issue here. Maybe you're the idiot, user.

Were your friend's initials e.r. and yours a.k.? Exact same scenario.

Nah, the friend would have been j.i. and I've no idea who a.k. might be, was over 20 years ago.

You don't have to break the law to get a beat down from the police. You just have to give them a funny look.

Ahhh damn. Insane. Pulled out a key and had the exact experience with a paranoid neighbor.

Ya, I like movies too.

Cops are huge pusssies, coming from a guy who is friends with a ton of army reservist who are cops. Their job is not even that dangerous comparatively to higher risk MOS, gas station attendants, strippers, etc but hardly ever hear about the aforementioned shooting someone

t. Former 88m with nerves of steel, swear if I did not have a domestic violence charge I would be a cop and never pull my work weapon

My best friend is a cop. Just a normal dude. They don't like having to chase, fight, or pull their gun. There is a lot of paperwork to do when things get violent. The only ones that go out being purposefully confrontational are rookies on a power trip and they usually don't last long. They either get it together and behave properly or get canned. Any normal cop's behavior isn't personal, they have to act that way. It's not a movie, someone could pull a gun and kill them in a couple seconds, so yes don't make any sudden movements and keep your hands visible. Cooperate. The shit isn't hard and if you make it easy for them sometimes they make it easy for you and let you off with a warning if it's not too bad.

Americans also weirdly like to deny the existence of police brutality.

>300 confirmed kills style larp

When would a motor transport operator kill someone?

>Act friendly and if they come to you pat their head?
enjoy your rabies retard

Oh that's an MTV thing, I dont watch that. There's the disconnect, I prefer reality.

>city pays some niggers millions of dollars in a settlement for no particular reason

There's no doubt police brutality exists, especially in places where the rates of violence are much higher like certain states.

While once in a while you'll find cases where the cop was an outright murderer with a badge... a lot of the time there was some sequence of events that occurred to set things up where the officer had an excuse, or got to the point they were so stressed out their stopped thinking clearly and acted out of pure adrenaline.

For every case where the cop goes full psycho there are 100 cops who maintain their cool like a fucking robot with balls of pure chrome plated titanium steel, despite the fact the criminal or suspect is acting violently and being a total asshole.

>he doesn't know about legal costs and the police brutality fanfic effect with media that creates riots out of nothing
