Nah that actually looks really cool. My plants always die :(

No not at all I wish my living space was that cool

Yeah, this looks comfy af. Good for you, user

This looks like something out of a cozy /wg/ pape. That's awesome, OP

that's a lotta oxygen

your gf is a bitch and doesn't appreciate a top tier hobby.

i have a similar amount but most of them are fruit/vegetable plants. i wish i had a FUCKING camera that worked well so i could show my room off

a well oxygenated room is what gave you the confidence to talk to girls in the first place OP, she wants to get rid of your plants because she considers them a threat

if she makes you choose between her and your plants, i would stick with your plants. They won't ever leave you, and they won't make you choose.

Thank you all, if anyone is wondering, I use 2 full spectrum LED grow lights, 40 wattr each to make up for the stupid low amount of light that comes through the window. they are set on timers for auto on/off everyday. They are like Mini artificial suns.

You can't have too many plants, bro.

1. wheres your pc
2. whats that weird shit all over your bed

Extremely comfy room, OP. Nice job. You could be airtight in there and probably survive for a long time. Tell your gf you need the plants to carbon rotate all the hot air she puts out by yapping.

Post tanks pls I love aquariums

I like my apartment to be very sterile so that really wouldn't be my thing, but it looks neat and comfy if you're into it.

Can you show what the lights are? I might need to get some for my wife's plants. She always gets mad at me when I don't open the curtains for her plants but since it's summer I like to keep as much light out as possible so I'm not running the A/C all the time.

I like it OP. I grew a big garden this year but my water bill just hit $160 so it's time to let go

pretty fucking sick, reminds me of the NEET guy in twin peaks who lived with a bunch a plants

how do you water them? mister or just pouring water right into the container? i dont see any water catchers under the pots so how do you keep water from leaking through?

any time i've ever had indoor plants the soil dries up and when i water, the water doesn't actually saturate the soil but instead runs straight through it through the bottom.

Yeah in the top right of the corner you mentioned, and in the lamp shade next to the bed. Its not letting my post the amazon link due to the spamfilter but you can look them up on amazon, SANSI 40w grow light.. they have went up in price for some reason though sadly.. $49

How do you deal with gnats? Once I got plants in the house, I've had a huge increase in gnats in the house and it's driving me fucking crazy. I assume they must have eggs in the soil or something.

moar PC, interesting side note the large bookshelf speakers belonged to my great grandmother and I got them from my father after she passed a few years back. MY dad still remembers when he was a teen ans she got the whole HIFI stereo system deal from radioshack, speakers, turntable, tapedeck, EQ, etcc.. they were made in the 80's..I have a stereo receiver nigrigged to my pc with these large bookshelf speakers, a pair of smaller ones, and a 100w home theater sub hidden inside the pullout compartment of my desk, basically turning my whole desk into a speaker box.

Thats a common problem user. Eventually as the plant grows the soil becomes more and more compacted as the roots get tighter in the pot. Thats why the water doesn't permeate the soil and just runs down the edges of the pot out of the bottom. To remedy this, get a chopstick or something similar and poke a bunch of holes in the soil, or take the plant out of the pot and loosen the root ball a bit, or maybe even repot it. To answer your original question, sometimes I water, but mostly just mist the soil every few days. I have a large humidifier in my house that keeps my house at a constant 60-70% repetitive humidity, so I dont have to water as much, as often, and being tropical plants they love it

Very cool fish tanks op, I'm not allowed to have one where I live so I'm pretty jelly. Have you ever tried aquascaping (the top one looks like it might be)? It seems like you'd be really good at it. I've tried a few times but they always get overgrown with algae faster than actual plants. pic semi-related, a well-aquascaped tank

>muh gf
Cancer. Fuck off.

Fungus gnats, I get them from time to time, but only when I over water. I combat this by letting things dry out some, as the gnats cant reproduce in drier soil and their life cycle is only 2 or 3 days. If its a real issue you can go to a garden center and look for something called "mosquito bits" that are preserved granules of a bacteria that only eats the eggs of the gnats and nothing else. effective bio warfare.

Yeah I used to be really into it. Had the whole high tech setups with injected C02 and ferts and all that, as time went on I just didnt have the time or the upkeep though and went back to basics. I still Like to style them right, but care less about the " rules " now. AS far as algae goes, like everything else in life its about balance. If you have too much light and nutrients in the water column, algae will uptake it faster then the plants can because they are more basic organisms, and as you know algae grows faster then plants so it will out compete them for sure. You have to keep everything in check with each other so the plants have just what they need and will out compete the algae. It takes practice and time to get right, the ratio or light, nutrients, ferts if any, water changes, etc.

Guess I'm gonna take a trip tomorrow. Thanks OP. I'm sick of these fuckers landing on my screen every 10 seconds.

heres my little 5 gallon beside my bed that is more of a nature look i guess you could say

Welcome user, I enjoy others enjoying the hobby.

I like that one the best; it looks like a real slice of riverbed. Maybe the problem with my last one was that it was a little 5 gallon (hidden from my landlord) with a relatively powerful full-spectrum bulb and a few ghost shrimp in it. I thought they'd clean all the garbage up but I ended up not having time for consistent water changes and the whole thing sort of fell apart. I did saltwater many years back and they actually have ornamental algae that can out-compete junk algae for resources but I never got those to work right either. You're probably just more dedicated than I am.

In my experience smaller tanks actually require more attention, because the lower volume of water at play means water parameters wing quickly. It takes longer for nitrates to build up in 20 or 40 gallons then 5 for example. I do one 30% water change per week, but the bigger tanks could go a bit longer. The small one though, has to be weekly or things get out of wack. If you ever decide to try again heres a protip, ghost shrimp arent good for cleaning algae. They will eat it but barely, and if there's anything else more interesting to them they will go for that first. On top of the fact that they are mass bread as a feeder, and often are sick and die very quickly. A good cleaner shrimp is the amano. they get bigger, and live much longer ( ive had mine for 3 years..) and their main food is algae. Ghost shrimp really arent good for anything desu, except a rare treat for my angel fish but because what I mentioned above I hardly do that just because if they contracted something from a poor food choice I gave them I'd be quite sad.

>plants arent integrated into the pc, providing it with fresh air
0/10 battlestation

Nice hunblebrag thread, faggot. Your plants and room do look cool though, props.

Please dump your gf and be my boyfriend instead.

>amano shrimp
never heard of that one before, interesting suggestion.

Um... As long as you're willing to translate that effort into a family to better the human race... Maybe even sacrificing the plants needs for your family needs....

Maybe even starting a fucking farm to have some fruitful food for your family or potential societal collapse.

pics first tho

all good except for that shitty word sign and some of the decor is cliche and tasteless

thats fucking awesome dude, makes me want to get some more plants because I only have like a dozen. your gf is a cunt.

Good thread OP. Funny thing is I have a girlfriend AND a housemate who both keep fucking ridiculous numbers of plants. I don't mind as long as they're not in my space or bring pests inside

Gf spent $350 on a plant once. Like what the eff mane

do you have a lot of insects in your home?

very few, cats help

How do you keep them alive? Do you have to water them everyday and change the soil? What does it smell like in your room and is the air fresh?

This image made me go on a 15 minute sexual daydream of pure vanilla bliss. Not even paid porn has made me feel this. Is this the power of nofap?
