How is natural selection still present in 1rst world societies?
Cant think for myself pls answer this question for me

Reproductive selection.
It's not, everybody's reproducing. Ugly people will reproduce with other ugly people. There's no traits for nature to select for anymore because everybody has the opportunity to mate
Don't listen to retards on the internet, but you can't stop natural selection.
Essentially the dumb still have a lower life expectancy than the smart.
Incels aren't reproducing.
There is a debate around wether it is or ist actually currently taking place. Some of the conditions for natural selection appear to be missing. You need variation. selection pressure and some for of "island" for a selected group to diverge. With humans we constantly mix our genes among various groups and isolated breeding populations are not common. Where they do exist we have not had separation for a long time at all, evolutionary speaking. Where there are selection pressures any genes effected would quickly disperse in the population.
Then again there are minor instances of selected traits such as sickle cell and we will see different imune responses to various things in cultures isolated from each other in any significant distance or time.
Then we have to consider if natural selection might have interactions with our culture that are poorly understood as we are a very specific type of animal model. For example are there other types of "island" that exist that would allow a trait to be selected even though the populations might share the same space. cultural influences sike social divisions which put limits on breeding between different social classes. However it is doubtful if such populations are sufficiently separated sexually as just one of many potential issues with that idea.
Yes, but you'd have to be really fucking dumb to die before you can reproduce. Even mentally retarded people get to the age where they can have children.
You can't stop natural selection, but you can slow it down drastically to the point where nothing special is happening
Nothing natural about modern society, we're going backwards actually, it's gonna reach a tipping point sometime no matter the outcome the future looks bleak.
Then you could ask if there are selection pressures which are having an effect as whole on the human population. An example I have thought of, but havent heard discussed much, is the idea of people having children at an ever older age as as culture and living standards advance. If it becomes more and more to wait to have kids util the borderline between fertility and infertility, then it seems plausable that genetic traits that disadvantage late age fertility will be carried forward into the next generation less and less. like wise genes confering an ability to have healthy kids at an older age will be carried on more and more. So its possible that the average maximum age could be recorded at one level then be seen to rise higher in a temporally separated population. And would such a change be considered as a new phenotype?
higher educated couples have less children
you dont understand natural selection
higher education level is a social product not a genetic one
nigger thats an art exhibit, i seent it before retard
That's not a real teratoma. It's a prop.
>There is a debate around wether it is or ist actually currently taking place.
What brainlets think it isn't taking place?
In humans? Evolutionary biologists...
don't pretend there's no correlation with intelligence. we're talking about natural selection influencing the population over thousands of years. it doesn't take much.
"educated couples have *fewer* children" was the statement.
EDUCATED. Think about it for a moment there buddy, take your time
Also youre not giving any evidence or genetic isolation between groups to account for any kind of phenotypic difference being able to emerge. Jesus christ read a fucking book before deciding youre an expert on something.
"we're talking about natural selection influencing the population over thousands of years" You dont understand natural selection as well as you think you do.
to evidence the fact that there is not agreement on the specific evolutionary status of modern human populations

All you need is to stay alive long enough to have children and make sure they have children the sort of education you would get is to be a part of this complex system we created not to have children and this same system allows for unfit people to have more children, it's not sustainable, there will come a time were we'll need to ditch human rights.
alright fair enough. I'm obviously not an expert, but I didn't want to waste effort on qualifiers.
>don't pretend there's no correlation with intelligence
I mean that there is a correlation between intelligence and education, and therefore genetics and education.
I don't understand why it is necessary to have genetic isolation between groups for changes in phenotype to occur.
Natural selection is a meme anyway. Most evolution is from genetic drift.
why do you think there is no more selective pressure?
In modern society there are less external pressures on natural selection due to high quality healthcare and high quantity food production. But the traits being still being selected for today are mostly as follows
1. the lack of a genetic disorder that kills you or prevents baby making
2. the lack of a genetic disposition towards excessively unhealthy lifestyles
3. a genetic disposition for having lots of heterosexual sex without contraception whether or not you intend to have a kid
so basically stupid hicks that constantly have sex and live off welfare
Do you picture an Idiocracy modeled future? Our best hopes are great advances in eugenics and genetic manipulation of fetuses to eliminate undesirable traits.
Imagine: a world where everyone kept their spaghetti in their pockets, and where R9K would never need to exist.
Ah.. to dream
High intelligence is being selected against as they have lower fertility rates.
This board and its inhabitants are a prime example of modern natural selection at work
>humans got too smart
>environment dying
>suddenly only idiots having kids
>places like Japan becoming literally extinct due to no breathing room
We are just an extinction level event. Don't take us so seriously.
>How is optimising for an environment still present in a different environment than this other environment
That image is fucking revolting btw
Since we hand out welfare like candy, our society is selecting for individuals who have as many kids as possible. It won't end well.
