Lol, Serial Experiments Lain is much better than Revolutionary Girl Utena. SEL is not a bad show by any means. I'm just saying it could have been executed in a much better way, it doesn't live up to what you think it's going to offer from the first few episodes, it just gets to over-indulgent at times. Haibane Renmei (story written by the guy involved in the character design of SEL) on the other hand was executed so beautifully and never disappointed me at any point.
