I used to do a fair bit of art in my free time for Jow Forums and some people liked it. But that was ages ago. New Jow Forums is literally just Jow Forums rejects these days so i have no motivation to do anything fun for this board anymore.

Pic related is the last thing I ever drew and probably ever will for Jow Forums, it was a 15 minute request from a brazil user that was completely ignored. The shitty cali/cirno flag that argentina keeps posting was the funnest thing I did for Jow Forums, but I only rarely pop in now since this is Jow Forums.2 . Shame really, me and some other artists had fun on here back in the day

Jow Forums's grip isn't as tight on this board as they like to brag, and their threads really only persist because there's nothing better at the moment to overtake them. With a bunch of productive threads, people will lose interest in Jow Forums and they'll be vanquished to 404ing like they were back during the October Renaissance.

It is sad that you and a whole bunch of other anons feel that way. Left the board as well for a long time after being burnt out from trying to coordinate a Jow Forums project, and upon returning the state of the board dampened my spirit as well, but we can't let outsiders claim Jow Forums like a trophy to flaunt around.

They say that art skill develops rapidly though, so a year's practice should catapult you to level 3 at least.

But that has to be constant, daily practice. And artists face stiff competition due to the amount other artists of comparable skill around. When anyone can get good at it, it comes down to the audiance's tastes.

That's not bad. You can draw hands, kind of. That's way better than the first thing I drew on this board.

I'd rather draw what I like, first and foremost. Other than general practice, I'd rather have something I enjoy to draw to keep me coming back.

It's just that said topics lead to bringing in the sort of people that drove out our OG drawfags in the first place and kill creativity through repetition in their own content and threads. It's why Blepe was canned after it was found out he was just a proxy for you-know-who and friends to shitpost with.

You need to learn limb/body ratios. Picture your characters as stick figures or wireframes and get a feel how long limbs are in proportion to each other.

What said. Learning anatomy is really important for getting the sizes "right", even in a cartoon.

I'm no artist by any means, but I used to do simple drawings like these when I was younger. I barely saved any, so I don't have a lot to show for it. Needless to say, I had a lot of practice time during my classes...

I tried drawing a little as of late, and I think I have improved a bit, refining perspectives and adding very simple shading. But I don't think I have any picture of it, sadly.
But I'd really like to get better at drawing characters, something I suck at real bad.
