Is the kbd75 a good board for a first mech?

No, you'll probably injure yourself.

Oh yeah I thought about that until I found out that they can just pre-assemble it for you which is why I'm contemplating it.

Oh, I was just joking ha.

EnjoyPBT caps came in today.

I'm looking to get a mech keyboard that has a dedicated volume key...Is there anything better out there than the Logitech G810? (Das Keyboard is too expensive)

Attached: Logitech G810 (1).jpg (1500x755, 129K)

I like Topre the most!

Attached: keyboard.jpg (706x1249, 646K)

what are the best diy or custom cases and pcb with underglow

Attached: bc468e3275ce74d9028e94931ff7fbd2.jpg (3328x1854, 936K)

The best cases for underglow are winkeyless.kr's, they're milled from a single piece of frosted translucent plastic so the light gets spread out perfectly evenly

also i was think about taking a plum RGB and replacing all the keycaps with DSA what do u guys think?

Attached: topreclone35g.jpg (3200x2398, 1.06M)

All the cool kids are buying that ganss and just desoldering it. Really good value if it's what you want.
I'm personally thinking of desoldering a mistel sleeker because I think the black would good with the white on black maxkey set.

ya thats neat

Attached: DSC_3889.jpg (1936x1296, 558K)

Skip the RGB and use the money saved on 55g domes and lube.
Or at least get the 45g version and 20g springs and then lube them.
Bringing them up to 55g-65g and lubing them gives a really good typing experience.
Ideally you would use the 65g domes from ebay but they're out of stock at the moment.

I have blackwidow for RGB and a custom keyboard for no backlight, i honestly love both so much, if i could get black SA keycaps and have them fit on a blackwidow then id never want anything else, maybe a custom case though for it but that's about it

Where's a good place to get cheap DSA keycaps?

aliexpress

Thanks

>backspace as two words
ew

thankfully it's fixed now

Do cherry blacks actually cause finger strain or is that a meme?
I'm curious because I have cherry silvers right now, but they feel way too light and I was looking to get a new keyboard, but the the one I was planning on getting is only available with black, reds, blues, and topres.

Will please mother for cheap split ortho keyboard

Attached: IMG_20180322_150600.jpg (2934x1566, 836K)

i hear anything above 35 feels like hitting a wall when the user reaches dome and isn't smooth.

Attached: CeBlnC6WEAAM3zY.jpg (600x450, 69K)

finger strain is caused by bottoming out hard more than the resistance from springs

the idea with heavier switches like blacks or clears is that the weight makes it more difficult to bottom out so you're less likely to do it, and they're gonna be better for your fingers if you do

but if you keep bottoming out, they will be worse, because now on top of the impact, you're also making your fingers work harder

Only if you bottom out every single time and if you keep that up for a few hours.
I've used blacks pretty exclusively for a while and don't ever really get that problem. If you like the silvers but want more weight to a keypress , then blacks are what you're looking for.

>cheap
>custom ergodox like that
Pick only one.

You could also just get two pro micros (or a teensy+mcp23018) & hand wire it.

>finger strain is caused by bottoming out hard more than the resistance from springs
wrong. it's caused by being such a pussy ass faggot that typing of all things causes you problems

Where the fuck did you get that space cadet?
I want one too.

where can i get topre clones in a 30% on something like vortex core? plz halp

Attached: PSA3qOm.jpg (3264x2448, 1.91M)

There was a rougher looking one on ebay not long ago, went for 2260 yurobux. If you want that NOS drop in one, ask the owner if he'll sell you it for considerably more than that.

I went through the same exact thing, and blacks are definitely what you're looking for. If you have really heavy hands but you like the feel of linear switches then absolutely get blacks.

The "typing fatigue" meme is only true if you are the kind of person that types way to light to begin with, blacks are the best cherry switch out there.

Attached: copper coated caps.jpg (2200x1467, 1.24M)

Well shit, there's only lispm mouse for like a thousand bucks now.

Can we actually call Topre keyboards "mechanical'?

Attached: 1462382436399.jpg (250x201, 25K)

Topre is best

Attached: 20171206_keyboards.jpg (1711x1288, 1.21M)

you are now aware that you have six keyboards too many and you're stupid

Topre is only better than cherry

even worse I have bought more since then

No, it is better than Alps derivatives too.

>Owning more than two keyboards
>Likes overpriced rubber domes more than mechanical switches
You have a serious problem.

got a real live buypig here, folks. hasn't even tried a split yet keeps buying the same shit over and over again

Not it's not, even then capacitive buckling springs are better.

I like TKL so I'll stick with that from now on.

What's that 60% at the bottom left?

t.person who has never used alps

Tell me, user.
What is the point in owning 6 TKL keyboards?

V60 w/ Matias Click

They're all a bit different. There's no real point to it, though.

>Matias click
>Alps

Attached: tuFoQ5lqA9UT7t9q4LCDZoTtbG-haHeccKTuPX_bqlk.png (225x675, 24K)

Depends on how exactly you define "mechanical".

youtu.be/GmDi0QsV4Rc?t=2m59s

I said alps derivative didn't I?
deskthority.net/wiki/Matias_switch

>say he has never used alps
>he says he uses matias clicks in response

Attached: 9d5.png (2688x2688, 173K)

Sure, you're right. But I never claimed Topre was better than Alps (it probably is, but I won't claim that).

>you're right.
>Thinks I didn't already know that

Attached: YctHlNA7Ti0soYHBtKxF8B-AtJH0xZRq80fSmHbb5-o.png (668x768, 69K)

which alps board are you typing from btw

No.

Topre is electro-capacitive.
"Mechanical" is for contact switches only.

>hall effect switches aren't mechanical
>capacitive buckling springs aren't mechanical
Nah m8.

They're not. Hall effect is hall effect and capacitive buckling springs are electro-capacitive

Mechanical switches are garbage then

I'm saying your definition of "mechanical" is flawed. Anyone else would call buckling springs mechanical. Or beamsprings for that matter, since those are also capacitive.

Topre is mechanical, deal with it fags

Those people use flawed, imprecise definitions based more on sound or feel than function, and they should be mocked for it.

But by definition they aren't mechanical.

...

See

Yeah they're fucking fantastic to be quite honest family

what keyboard switches are the smoothest linear switches in existance and are somewhat easy to get?

nixdorfs

matias linears

I want to improve my typing speed, besides the obvious stuff that I already mastered like using all fingers in the correct position and looking at the screen, what can I do?

Attached: typing.gif (517x280, 2.39M)

those are good for about a year - tops

>separate keys for like/dislike
Can I order one where the dislike key automatically sends a signal to Micro Switch at maximum computing allowance whenever resources are available?

You asked for smooth, not long-lasting

either Break or Over Strike

SKCL green

get a let's split

dont like how i can see where every led is along the sides. almost just as bad as screw holes cutting it up.

Is there a version of Ergodox that has F-keys? Or better yet, something that is a cross between IBM battleship and Ergodox? Those minimalist hipsters have to ruin everything.

Attached: keyboards.jpg (1000x667, 297K)

Model M15, good luck getting one.

Attached: M15-001.jpg (640x480, 45K)

Which switches should I get if I want a keyboard that works well in a office environment. I have been looking at MX Red or MX Brown as they are available for the Vortex Race 3 which is the keyboard I want.

Practice. I recommend making long ass winded shitposts on Jow Forums.

play typing of the dead

G610 if you can find it, has actual switches instead of that romer-G muck

Imagine thinking this looks good

Forgot pic

Actually it’s been scientifically proven that heavier springs cause more strain then bottoming out on lighter springs. There’s a whole bunch of research on this. Here’s some
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/9302885/

still bothers me that the shitty das keyboard is the top example, its overpriced shit for soys as well

should be a dell keyboard or something

I'll change it for the next thread senpai

das keyboard made one of the biggest meme keyboards in the last year
daskeyboard.com/p/5q-cloud-connected-rgb-mechanical-keyboard/

they made a keylogger lmao

Seems like there is a lot of interest in topre clones lately. I would like to see more third party domes come to market because I think there is a bunch of cool shit that could be done with them

It really depends on your workplace. Generally any kind of cherry switch except blues are fine as long as you use o-rings and type gently. I've used clears in an open office environment without bothering anyone. If it's a really quiet office cherry silent reds are a good option, they are barely louder than a regular rubber dome.

>I just spilled orange juice and broke my keyboard

Attached: 1502129957677.jpg (634x634, 67K)

this is why this general should be called /kbg/, keyboard buypig general

Any of the new optical switch keyboards

If you have a loose mx switch around, take the contacts out and try pressing it, that's a decent approximation

r8 my keyboard bro

Attached: mk220-gallery.png (652x560, 52K)

I had 2 of those, it's cheap and very satisfying to smash.

Very tidy design, wish there was a similar mechanical keyboard.
