Hey that's pretty cool

Looks awesome! What is it?

Why?

Can't you get cheap adapters for that?

Just out of curiosity, how does one solder indoors? I understand that flux smoke is carcinogenic, and that without sufficient amounts of ventilation. Your lungs will suffer immensely. Would an open window coupled with a fan be enough?

Attached: Avp Extinction 1.jpg (589x442, 42K)

A fan and open window is definitely enough

carbon filters, or a fume hood

If you don't solder frequently don't worry about it.
Just don't inhale the fumes.

I see.

I soldered indoors for a couple months two years ago. No open windows or anything. I'm also starting school in a couple weeks for welding. Am I going to get the big C?

Not gore, actually pretty decent breadboarding.

This was a fun game.

Hoo lee fuck. That's some desperation. Imagine needing to do this with such urgency that you couldn't go out and get a heat gun to do it properly.

Probably, but you won't be able to attribute it to just that activity.

>Hoo lee fuck. That's some desperation. Imagine needing to do this with such urgency that you couldn't go out and get a heat gun to do it properly.
WTF are you even talking about? I'm sure [source[ did that on purpose, after removing chip w/ heat gun.

How?

I don't get it. All I see is some wires connected so what's wrong with that?

That is propped up so a hacker can probe the chip while it's running to reverse engineer it.

That's the syscon chip on a PS3.

so? does it work?

Annon, you need to get tons of sleep. Sleep is when your body's cancer-fighting systems are in overdrive. Hopefully this can undo the damage you may have done

>12V rail max load is 133A
Yeah, it should work

>tech gore
Dude that's boner material wtf...
imagine the steady hand & precision of that fucker

Good pic choice.

Catherine Bush - the patrician’s choice.

How did someone manage to solder this? It looks so intricate.

heat gun

The same way you do any other large solder job: Tack each corner then work in whichever way is easiest, taking care to not keep the heat in one area too long. Since those wires look pretty solid, the chip would be supported after getting the tacks down. Then I imagine he worked from the inside out

with a lot of time.

Guts!

Attached: IMG_2600.jpg (3648x2736, 3.02M)

It looks like you’d have to have the hand to eye coordination of a GOD to solder this, each strand individually without knocking a previous strand - especially the shortest ones. I’ve never done any soldering tho aside from some basic stuff in HS so maybe not as hard as it looks. Hats off to whoever did this tho!

Haha yes I suppose so - presume it wasn’t done in half an hour. And hacking PS3 chip worth the time.

How is the CPU subsequently probed?

That’s beautiful in its own kinda way

>Hoo lee fuck. That's some desperation. Imagine needing to do this with such urgency that you couldn't go out and get a heat gun to do it properly.
this is the average Jow Forumsentooman
literally too retarded to understand electronics other than vaguely associating it with tools like soldering irons and heatguns

thats how i currently get wifi on my desktop lol

Been welding for about a decade now and soldering for a few, just be aware of ventilation and keep your head out of the fumes. No tumors yet, but I won't be surprised when they're found.

ABUSE

What’s even going on here?

it looks like an all-in-one homemade PC

Fresh. Just picked this up for free.

The first chkdsk /f /r found 60k new bad sectors, so I assumed it was a progressive failure. Then I ran it again and came up with no new ones. Running it a third time now and crystaldiskinfo is again saying nothing new.

Amazon Prime.

It's funny. We asked him about it functioning and he says it works totally fine while pyramid probed. Timings have 0 impact which is amazing to think

I wish I could show you the bullshit the PS4 went through but I can't.

>17399 power cycles

In to the trash it goes.

Yeah, it's 7 cycles per hour. I don't know how they managed that.

does it work?

aggressive auto spin down?
maybe he's trying to kill the drive as fast as possible?

Actually that looks like a Lafayette Amplifier. Had one sorta like it a long time ago, it finally bit the dust due to transistor whine and a load of other problems like degrading connections. While I can assume that they would be intensely tough to work on, they were great for what they were.

yes

Reporting live.

I will share with you one of the biggest technological disappointments I've ever owned: My soldering station.

Looks pretty standard, doesn't it?

Attached: IMG_iNote7_20180401_162258.jpg (3264x2448, 2.04M)

Wrong. It is fucking trash. And that's an insult to trash.
Let's enhance how I got dun goofed by it.

Attached: IMG_iNote7_20180401_162018.jpg (3264x2448, 2.1M)

The fucking tips are screwed in.
Screwed tips. On a "soldering iron".

Heat capacity: none.
Time to heat up: 10 minutes min.
Can buy new tips: No. Nobody does screwed tips. Nobody sells these. Because it's fucking stupid.
Can regulate temperature: Not really. 1,2,3,4 and 5 aren't temperatures.

Attached: IMG_iNote7_20180401_162051.jpg (3264x2448, 2.62M)

The tips are completely fucked, corroded and disintegrated into the solder. Here's the second tip that came with it. I didn't even use it that often and look how it looks.

I would love to punch the person that designed this into the gut.

I just ruined another project because the fucking solder formed a fucking ball on the tip and then dropped onto the PCB. A typical sign of a fucked tip. Too bad that's the end of the line with this piece of crap.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now.

>I bought something awful

why ?
Its not even more easy to access contact points ?

walk to the store

>Hoo lee fuck. That's some desperation. Imagine needing to do this with such urgency that you couldn't go out and get a heat gun to do it properly.
Console hacking. It's for probing.

I did not blame anybody, I just really really want to punch that person.

Every time the iron heated up, I had to screw the tip back in with pliers because metal expands when heated. That loosened its fit every single fucking time.

I was a n00b when I bought it and thought humanity had long ascended above being too incompetent to design a fucking heater on a fucking plastic stick. 30? 40? 50? years of engineering to sell newcomers this and scare them away because shits not working at all?

12V is too little for arc. You need 2 psu-s

Did you break the seal on the vapor tubes?

Isn't that from OCN - from the ghetto modding thread specifically?

As far as I know no, vapor tubes are a meme anyways,. Just need copper

>that ram
>that cpu
>with 1080 ti
why?

Attached: why.png (761x584, 57K)

The 1080 is bottlenecked, not the system itself.
You still gain the 1080's advantage, just not to the fullest extent.

>Pegatron AM2
Fucking kek

>but I'm good at this shit!

this is awesome, more info please

Haven't seen any "gore" in this thread yet. So here ya go.

>dat feel when the buzzing in your computer is getting louder each day and you're 90% sure it's just coil whine or bad bearings but there's that 10% chance could be something else and have to check it out

Attached: 94v1q8tklcex.jpg (2560x1536, 511K)

Now i'm no engineer but i'm fairly sure that isn't right.

Desolder with some hot air, clean up and resolder.

PCB should be okay as long as those traces didn't get burned.
The melted solder there is just shorting the chip.

Attached: 1519427386005.jpg (540x301, 26K)

Would you recommend it?

Attached: KEY80052.jpg (640x480, 91K)

bridged connection isnt too bad but ill probably still try to pick up a wireless card in the next few weeks

>Imagine needing it NOW

Apparently you can't even do that you fucking brainlet

Attached: 1496975879282.jpg (2634x1898, 1.06M)

Shame is on you, for not doing the proper research. You can buy pretty decent Hakko clones for peanuts. For small stuff without ground planes, "8W USB Soldering Iron" (Pencil soldering irons) can be had on ebay for under a fiver. Stock up on the tips tho, they are about two bucks and don't last that long with regular use and abuse.

>no tobasco

ONE JOB

That was a good thread. Anybody got that thread captured?
