This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
That blue geneve is a sharp watch, user. Is that manual wind only?
Jace Adams
Are you talking about the watch that says "automatic" on the dial?

Ok brand new sub 1k what are good watches/brands >Casio digitals/G Shock >Vostok Amphibia Russian spy watches >the holy nippon trinity Seiko, Orient, Citizen >entry level Swatch group stuff. Hamilton, Tissot, Mido >Micro brand stuff using mostly NH, Miyota, or sometimes ETA movements. A lot of brands in this range but mostly either divers or meca quartz chronos.
Ryan Perry
Ha. Alrighty.

Any tips for photographing watches? I have a Fuji XPro2 with 35mm lens so I shoudl be able to get some nice macro shots, right?
Zachary Sanders
Honestly either go 300~with a seiko or 1200-400 and get a nicer Seiko or Stowa
Thomas Hughes
Also Casio Oceanus and entry level German watches (Sinn, Archimede, Damasko, Laco,Stowa, Steinhart(?) etc.)
And this Actus for AUD$60. I grabbed a cheap jubilee for it though because the original strap that came with it was sized for soy wrists and didn't have the spare links.
And finally a bit of a family heirloom. My father was a cab driver for a while as a second job, and a dude tried to bolt without paying. My father demanded his watch as payment and this bad boy is still ticking today without a service.
I wish. The stock bracelet is sized for something like 5 inches or so, and I've got 8.5 inch wrists. I'm hoping I can find another seiko 5 in terrible condition to salvage the bracelet from instead as the jubilee I've got on it is just a tad off in size on the lugs.
Asher Smith
How much wrist time do you give these? Do you cycle through one by one or do some get neglected?
Yeah I have no cycle, I just wear what I happen to like that at the moment, I have some general rules though. a158 is for gym and outdoors The piece of shit analog chrono is my club watch Slavshit for dress or when i'm feeling fancy. Digital Seikos + calculator watch + citizens are my daily drivers.
Bought it from Etsy or ebay, can't remember. It is comfy to wear but it wont last you a long time. Also, thanks bro. Interesting Casio you have on the right.
Anthony Evans
Can confirm, mine is a bit faded. It's not too bad for 34 years old though.
That actually looks pretty okay for a shrouded seiko not like the tuna cans they usually make. I'd avoid ebay because the fees are just unbearable at this point. Stick to forum listings.
What vintage watches you plan to sell?
Nolan Perez
You lads made me look up lange replicas, and I found this: youtube.com/watch?v=Sl2N5YbQbtQ
Lmao. Normies are really hopeless when it comes to horology.
Dominic Carter
Get a genuine croc strap.
Cooper Cook
Zen>actually flying to japan to bid on and pick up the item>buyee
Xavier Torres
I'm planning two Cosmotrons, maybe some other shit I never wear.
So either strike up a conversation/talking point about some "haute horology", or fuck off you a place what does happen to discuss it more often. Or just complain like a bitch.
