Nova launcher, but the launcher isn't really important in ricing. I just use it to entirely clear the screen.

You need to install KLWP and use that to rice. If you are lazy and just want my file I can provide it for you, but to use other people's setups you will need KLWP pro (you should be able to find apks online for it).

If you don't have root. You'll have to use another lockscreen app like widgetlocker(Maybe the kwlp guy finally released his own lockscreen app?)
If you have root and xposed, you can use widgets on lockscreen or whatever its called
what about customising status bar and maybe even notification bar without root?
