This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
We're talking about a brand new one with the labels and everything untouched... what do you say should I buy with 1000. Im an europoor, so bear in mind I want something for 10 years.
Kayden Brown
by replica do you mean clone?
Jack Baker
no
Brody Rivera
You could just wait for the next round and pay about 300 less.
Where do people buy replicas in Europe, or anywhere for that matter? The only places I've seen them sold are shitty fakes in asian countries on the street and scam websites
Ryder Adams
man this guy is really assblasted about his tudor fake
Saw my dad yesterday and his company gave him a seamaster for his retirement. I was surprised by how smooth the bezel action is. The bracelet is comfortable but nothing really impressive.
Charles Flores
wow
Gavin Campbell
that a replica? i really like tudors, what seller sells those? havent bought expensive reps yet but im willing to.
Cooper Morris
>that a replica? Yep.
>i really like tudors So does anyone with taste.
>what seller sells those? Literally all of them, Google "ZF Shield 2824" and you'll find endless results.
Wyatt Ortiz
Just get the chinese knockoffs that use all the same parts but don't decorate the movement and pretend to be something they're not. They tend to be cheap as fuck too.
It's a great shame that the best TC quartz that the swiss can offer gets shoved into whored out meme brands like Breitling and Longines. Omega does make some Constellations with the +/- 10s movements, but of the 5% of Omega buyers who even get a Constellation, how many are quartz? I owe a great deal to that Finnish poster who gave me the right model codes to understand Citizen's lineup. Citizen are wankers who don't translate their site well. I own a penisquartz and an 8F Seiko, but now I'm leaning getting a The Citizen over a GS 9F.
Nathaniel Garcia
Is the SARX055 officially discontinued now that the SJE073J1 is a thing? I assume it must be since they'd find it hard to get people to spend twice as much on a slightly better movement.
The SARX055 is JDM only and a long term piece. The SJE073J1 is an internationally released limited edition.
Leo Thomas
I see thanks.
Kayden Russell
Are the Seamaster 300 reps any good? I heard that that shitty movement can stutter.
Cooper Turner
Oh shit that teaser at the end. I wonder how the watches will be priced? I mean they need to compete with Seiko's 9F regardless of slightly higher spec.
Dylan Green
I'm a Europoor who wants a Halios too. I suggest you wait for the new release, even with import tax you will save 200-300 euro, don't give money to people trying to inflate the prices, it's just scalping
Owen Rivera
Copped this while I was in Japan over December. Thoughts? Didn't want to break the bank
Really not a fan of the chapter ring, but other than that it seems nice enough.
Jaxon Thomas
Eco-drive The Citizen is already up to +/- 5s/y. If anything I'm curious if there is a possible way to bring their TC system to lower range models, or at least spread it out more. But I know in my heart that unless Citizen is able to compete with a mixed lineup of mechanicals, it won't be eating anybodies lunch.
Chapter ring sub-seconds are weird, but in my eyes all subseconds markers just become noise that don't do much to readability. I like the lume, normal light green Lumibrite I assume? It sadly has the great sin that many 4Rs fall into, a damn white day/date wheel on a black dial watch.
Cameron Barnes
Thoughts on this watch, guys? Seiko Presage SRPC03J1 Cocktail Sakura Fubuki.
>but in my eyes all subseconds markers just become noise that don't do much to readability On a chronograph I think they have their place. On a time-only, I agree.
Nathan Rogers
It's very nice. I prefer the blue one of those myself.
Brody Smith
I will put this watch together from vintage Vostok parts
Honestly I hate both. The second one would be nice if it didn't have that retarded 30.
Xavier Martin
There are reputable retailers who hang out on forums. Their websites are always getting shut down because what they do is illegal, but they just register a new domain and post it on the forum.
Jacob Ward
I have the Starlight. I'd like to see the Hubuki in person, but I can't. It looks like a plain white dial from a distance, so the dial would have to be amazing in person for me to buy it.
Juan Sanders
I need to get one of those. I can't find any interesting, nice polish watches so I could at least get one named after a Polish guy.
The idea is to get it as my first dress watch, but for daily use. I am a bit worried about the size, because I have a thin wrist (the F-91w fits well, if you want a reference).
>How often do you guys wear dress watches? 1 or 2 days a week. >Do you go to smart dress social events often? Never.
Elijah Sullivan
The calculator is plated matte gold though. Could you show the condition of yours?
Dylan Hughes
Also that reminds me
>that random guy from /pen/ and /lit/ who showed up in /wt/ a couple of weeks ago and posted like half a dozen high tier Citizens then suddenly disappeared
Cooper James
The SakuraFubuki date-only is the better of those two. The PR version looks better on the Starlight. Get one if you like it, that shit's getting overpriced on the secondary market.
At least a few times of week to work, or in the weekend. Family dinners etc for sure If you mean fancy social events, then not often. If something came up sure, but I wouldn't wear a watch if its full blown black tie.
PR = power reserve The two models on the right look best for me considering the dial finish, vs. the ones on the left. The Starlight dial is a bit more visually alive and the addition of the power reserve indicator throws in some nice balance for the markers. The Sakura Fubuki is a lot more understated and having the power reserve there ends up taking away from the clean look.
I wear dress watches whenever I feel like having that on the week's rotation. Smart dress, almost never. Just a translator working from home so I just enjoy horology for what it is.
15 euros(+15 euros shipping.. damn poles) But the seller claimed he serviced it himself. Seems to be running okay, I would like to tidy up the dial eventually
Liam Perry
Gonna get this serviced. What would you recommend for straps etc.
The 6L35 isn't a slightly better movement, it's a much better movement. It's like going from an ETA 2824-2 standard grade found in sub-$500 micro brand watches to the ETA 2892-A2 top grade normally found only on $2,000+ watches.
In any case covered it.
James Collins
Aren't those wide font ones re-dials?
Grayson Morales
Yes they are, straight from Luch factory in Belarus.
Kayden Stewart
Once every few weeks on average, maybe. I don't really dress nicely enough at work and I only have dressy social events every once in a while.
It's a pain because every time I want to wear it it's stopped. Most Constellations have tiny little hidden crowns that are impossible to use because fuck you it's an automatic you're not supposed to use the crown. Also there's no date quickset so I don't even bother with the date.
>want to buy a komandirskie on ebay >drunken subhumans russians copy pasting the entire vostok history but not the godamn diameter of their vodka smelling watches
It's so close, I can almost feel it now. I can't wait to head to my local BMW dealer while wearing it so I can take a picture of me wearing it in a BMW M2 I'll be pretending is mine and post the pics here.
