Not me.

I'm eternally using the 3770K since it has native USB 3.0 and PCI-E 3.0.

2600k still going strong, mx518 left mouse button broke a couple of months ago.

>USB 3.0
Thanks to Intel it's now called USB 3.1 gen 1, user.
Enjoy your free "upgrade".

Why is 1366x768 eternal?

Windescreen version of 1024x768, which is eternal. I have it on my lappy

Because OP is a brainlet.

It will never go away. it'll be on shittops and craplets forever.

Attached: 1304938223524.jpg (600x598, 48K)

still use my mx518 since 2010 and the mx510 since 2005, not as my main mouses tho, I have given my 518 to my brother and the 510 I use it on my laptop, dunno wtf logitech is doing but their products are immortal

1080p isnt eternal.

7970 is. its a good card.

2600k is outdated.

mx518 is from GOD.

2500k/2600k were guddo but Mobos are shit

I replaced my monitor with a 1440p 144hz meme last year and my 7970 for an rx480 along with it. Would recommend.

Still rocking the 2600k and exactly that cooler. The longevity of this chip is unbelievable.

>2600k is outdated.

I fucking love 1366x768. It's just so comfy and the icons and stuff aren't tiny. Besides the awkward dimensions in numbers, I would choose it or 1920x1080 over any of the larger abomination shit resolutions.

Attached: 1520042341974.png (557x605, 67K)

You're the reason 1366x768 6-bit TN panels are the norm.

That is the greatest mouse known to humanity

212 was BTFO a long time ago mate. It's extremely mediocre and overpriced by today's standards.

>7970 is. its a good card.

Cheap 1060 3gb is like 40-50% faster.

>cheap
Have prices normalized yet? Can I find it at msrp?

what was it replaced by

sandy is outdated for gaming

>extremely mediocre
I's only mediocre because jewtel with there thermal jizz won't allow most heatsinks to actually do there job.

>7970

My 7970 is 6 years old and still going strong. Great card.

>sandy is outdated for gaming

I don't get the display part.

i5 2500k + hyper212 here. OCd to 4.4ghz. Brought some 7 years ago. Its the reason i converted to Christianity.

8700k here

Maybe just in my country?
By cheap i mean the CheapEST one i can find.

That's basically the same parts (except the cooler) I bought in early 2012. 6 years later I can still play modern AAA games after dropping some meme settings. I don't really see a reason to upgrade just yet.
Truly the timeless setup.

>native USB 3.0
not relevant to CPU. I have native USB 3.0 using a 2500K on Z77 board.

>PCI-E 3.0
literally irrelevant at all unless you're running your GPU in x4 mode for some reason.

>2600k is outdated.
After overclocking it's just barely slower than 7700K, which is a last-gen high-end desktop CPU.

Please stop with this shit again.
At least your monitor is 1080p and the GPU is now the correct one.
The 212 is fine.
The CPU won't be fine since even Intel wants to push multi core.
Is that the MX518? Good shit. The g400 is better desu.

Attached: what to do with more cores - Intel.jpg (630x354, 57K)

2600K also uses more power to achieve the same level of performance as a 7700K

i5 3570K
7870 GHz
Hell yeah
My original 1080p monitor is sideways now since I got a 1440p though

well no fucking shit, older tech consumes more energy, who would have known
The point is that a CPU from 2011 can be pretty close to one that just came out, which is unacceptable and why upgrading is still a meme.

that's nice big ivy bro
3470 + 7850 here

Power savings would be your only benefit, I'll give you that

>initially all in for gaymes
>later pick up encoding for videos
>start learning pararellization in programs
>upgrading from a shitty quad core is a meme
Soon 8 cores will be the norm nigga. Intel is already at 6 cores with their garbage i5, the next release is sure to bundle 8 cores on their i7s.

I got the mouse and the cpu cooler.
But I'm VERY glad I upgraded from my 1080p TN to a 1440p IPS monitor and I would recommend the same to everyone.
It's a world of difference.

bost bussi

>initially all in for gaymes
what the fuck does this mean? an 2500K can run 95% of games perfectly with a proper graphics card
>later pick up encoding for videos
that's nice, but what exactly can you do with this CPU that you can't with Sandy Bridge anyway that is not some niche shit
>start learning pararellization in programs
niche
>upgrading from a shitty quad core is a meme
upgrading from 4 to 6 cores is pointless for most people today, not worth it
when and ONLY when the i5 comes with 8 cores, 8 cores will be the norm and it will be worth it upgrading, as long as there is enough software to actually take advantage of it
This probably means that upgrading from Sandy Bridge will be really worth it for most people around 9-10 years after its release, and even then, I'm not so sure.

>niche this and that
My point is that your desires or direction might change over time. If you have been static all this time, then congrats I guess.
8 cores will be the norm sooner than you think, Intel already confirmed 8 cores for the next gen and if Zen2 ups their CCX into at least 6 cores, then you can expect 8 cores on the equivalent R5s of today as soon as next year. You will get left behind on newer games if that's all you care about.

6300 Mhz?

well then when 8 cores are the norm, it will be a good time to upgrade, but not before for most people
8 cores will not be the norm when i7s have them, it will be when at least mid-range CPUs have them, that means core i5 at least, Ryzen isn't very relevant because no one will program seriously thinking about 8 cores until Intel catches up
2 cores didn't become the norm until the Core 2 Duo and Dual-Core Pentiums, 4 cores didn't become the norm until Sandy Bridge
8 cores will be standard in 2 o 3 years probably

Don't get me wrong, on my work machine I wish I had more cores, I have to do software development and virtualization and the fucking shitty CPU from the company's computer can't handle it, it sucks, but at home I have ZERO reason to upgrade my quad-core CPU.

I'm eternally using an i7 920. My mobo not having usb3 is annoying because I want to get a new case, and won't have front panel headers.

Also need a new GPU.

4/5, just don't have the graphics card.

I don't know whether to be sad or happy

still have my 2500k don't even have it oced currently for virtualisation stuff

it's crap
I used to think the same thing until I got a 4k display
in terms of productivity I'll admit 4k is probably only worth it if you're a programmer or similar but damn it looks much better
but yeah on Linux dpi scaling is crap so you better keep that trusty 1366x768 display

My 212 I bought years ago I have used in every new build since. Currently using it with my ryzen 3 1200.

>1280X1024@75Hz Native resolution

Maximum Comfy

I think Sandy Bridge was the last really good core Intel made. I'm still using my 2600k and I still have trouble maxing it out. My old 6970 is starting to become a bottle neck but I can't be bothered to replace it until GPU prices drop down.

Besides, even once I get around to building a new machine my current machine will live on as my linux media, file and do what ever other misc thing I need done server.

Get a 32nm Xeon as an upgrade, 2 more cores and 4 more threads is great fkr $50.

Still got a CM 212, used to own a 2500K and an MX518.

That cooler master fan is my bwoi forever

1080p monitor, 7970 and 3570k, 212.
I have since updated though. 1440p, 1070, some noctua heatsink 8->16gb RAM. Have gone through like 5 mice since 2012 though.

3770k club. 4.4ghz here.

>Have gone through like 5 mice since 2012 though.
Nigga what. g400 from 2012 here, this thing is invincible. How is LT making money if their mice don't break? I'm definitely getting another LT mouse as soon as this one dies.

it is
t. sandy

I'm still 2600k and also have a decent 1920x1080 IPS. I don't know what cooler that is but I use a CM 212X so same brand. Never used a 7970 or MX518, I used a Zowie and recently switched to a G Pro. All great mice though. So kind of half and half.

Just read the thread, that is a 212 so that's cool. No on the 7970 or MX518 though.

1080p, 7970, 212evo
but a 8350 and logitech G9 instead.

Made me get out of bed to check my amazon history and type this out.
CM Storm Spawn - Cord got damaged inside the mouse (got snagged often), and one of the dpi switch buttons stopped working.
Corsair M40 - one of the side buttons and middle click broke (I think, can't completely recall). I also found it incredibly uncomfortable.
SteelSeries Rival 300 - One of the side buttons stopped working, the other would work half the time and double click the other half.
Corsair Sabre - Weird software/firmware issue when using macros, I still use as my backup/laptop mouse.
Logitech G403 - current mouse.

I put a lot of hours into gaming with them, and constantly use the side buttons, also dropped them occasionally.

That sounds terrible. Hope that last mouse lasts you years.

literally my original build from 2011-2012 except for a g400 as mouse

monitor is still the same, 7970 died last year and replaced with a 1060 this year, 212 got a new fan this year, 2500k is still going strong but needs to be upgraded and worn out (but functional) g400 replaced with a g203 this year

>no gtx 680 4gb
shit even had gsync support

Kepler aged terribly.
My 670 is just about useless in $CURRENT_YEAR whereas a bro's 7950 is still usable.

My 680's still kicking ass. Did they have 4GB 670s or did they just run out of VRAM in modern games?

I don't even remember, but I went retarded with the 2GB version.

Forgot to mention it's oc'd though, think I got like 10% better fps after ocing it.

>MUH 2600K

fuck off with this shit meme. I had borrowed a 4GHz 2600k system from my brother for 6 months to write my bachelor's thesis on (an application written in c++).
The app took 3 minutes to compile on the 2600k, my Ryzen7 3.8GHz eats through it in 55 seconds.

It would have been fine if it was 4 years ago, but shit after Haswell has had a little IPC uplift and not to mention more cores in current gen.

i7 950 here. I recently bought the fractal design meshify C. I forgot the lack of usb3 support, so going for pic related to solve the problem.

Attached: 9200000019317998_1.jpg (550x265, 13K)

m518 is a pretty eternal mouse but the WMO is more eternal than it.

I refurbished my m518 and gave it to a friend who switched between lots of Logitech mice in his prime from 2002-2010 etc

Still have my old g400s, 6870, and 2500k somewhere in the closet. My old reliables. My 290x is somewhere in there too.

nope.
t. upgraded from HD7970 GHz to RX 480 (GTX 1060 equivalent)

Post tits.

My r9 280x (7970) is still going STRONG (dying) reasonably priced Vega 56 never.

Almost a decade old and still going
Wish it had display port and it won't overclock and the USB 2 hub does not work but apart from that it's excellent.

Lol, that's true.
