INTEL IRREVOCABLY BTFO

>Apple Plans to Use Its Own Chips in Macs From 2020, Replacing Intel

This is a major blow for Intel, if you still have any stocks left in that garbage company that produced faulty hackable chips with Meltdown and Sepctre, this is your last chance to dump.

Apple, the most valuable tech company in the world, realized it no longer needs Intel. It can produce everything by itself, even its own chips.

RIP Intel, you won't be missed.

Apple will become so self-contained; producing everything it needs, requiring no outside company.

The world has never seen such a self-contained ecosystem.

we already have a thread, faggot

The other thread is retarded, made by someone who must be dumb, it says "MACfags BTFO", when it's the opposite. It's Intel that is BTFO.

Thank you.

Thanks gonna invest it all on Nvidia.

I'd invest in AMD as well if you didn't at $1.6/share desu.

they used to use proprietary chips and they sucked.

they're either admitting that their computers are over priced toys not worth enterprise investment or they're going to go back to being a bigger joke than they already were

No thanks I don't support bad companies with bad products, Intel's Spectre and Meltdown shitshow was bad enough already.

they use their own chips in their phones and they fucking suck for anything that isn't a benchmark, this is more a blow to anyone stupid enough to still buy their chinkshit products

Still need fabs

Invest in Alphabet instead.

That's why they need samsung to make screens, or foxconn to assemble devices, or Radeon to make video cards, or various manufacturers to make storage devices, or etc...

AMD allows rebranding of their chips, this is what Apple is likely to do. They will sell a $299 AMD, call it the Apple something something chip for $1599.

Slightly custom amd is now apple CPU.

For now

>Apple Plans to Use Its Own Chips in Macs From 2020, Replacing Intel
I'm waiting for all the fake/skewed benchmarks, and excuses that pre-intel applefags used back in the day to make a comeback.

>inb4 Apple buys Glofo wholesale
>inb4 Apple buys AMD wholesale

But from the sounds of it they're going to unify their iDevice lineup with their Mac lineup, so surely that means ARM cpu?

Today fanboys are spamming geekbench

They can't because amd loses x86 and becomes useless.

...why would Apple care if they're switching to ARM? You know AMD makes shit other than x86, right? You know they have experience with Risc and Arm that Apple doesn't have right? You know they own Radeon, right?

Congress won't allow it.

Everything in the appstore can be recompiled to ARM, Intel will be gone from Macbooks and low end Macs.

WELCOME TO THE TRUMP ERA! All Apple has to promise is they'll open more fabs in the US.

OY VEY 10% OF THE PC MARKET WILL BE LOST
SHUT IT DOWN GOY

>Today fanboys are spamming geekbench
And before apple claimed that their cpus where 2-4 times faster than intel cpus (with almost all evidence proving the opposite).

Apple will be the first trillion dollar company.
Mark my words.

UNDER
RATED

Ya ya good joke buddy, but April fools day was yesterd-

Oh wait, this is serious.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

dope, I can't wait for Macs incapable of running Windows / linux

Linux supports so many architectures.. I'm sure they will support the new Apple chips.

It will probably be only on macbooks, their A10 is alreadly very powerful for a mobile cpu.

This will be Apple's downfall. They will spread their resources too thin. Everything will collapse.

Windows 10 run on ARM, Linux run on ARM. OpenCL, Vulkan, Metal. What else they need?

>realized it no longer needs Intel.
correction: apple has since the start been trying to make cold-runnable processors but IBM was a bitchh and refused to make it so then apple turned to intel because at least they tried so now that apple can afford starting up their own processing plant they will because it will save them money and they can make the processors they want to.

Their GPUs are meh, but their CPUs are great.
They're still undervalued desu.

Only reason to not own Apple perfect products = not having enough money.

ARM? Did they say ARM?
Apple's a RISC-V member. I doubt they'll go and pay the ARM tax if they do design their own chips.
My prediction: Apple will switch to AMD's chips and use them for a year or two, while they prepare their own RISC-V chips.

Based applel

Apple has blacklisted nvidia since the mid 2000s.

LOLNO.

you see, intel will live of the normal fags that think quality cpu = intel.

the only thing that can change that is that AMD tries a massive marketing campaign to show that they are great or even better than intel to get into the normal-fags head.

The only way they will see that is if OEMs start bundling their CPUs more. APUs on laptops and cheap desktops, TR on high end devices, etc.
That or maybe if the reviewer shills see cs go at 8 gorillion fps with Zen2 next year. Many self proclaimed enthusiasts listen to these reviewers as if they were gospels.

Funny fact, Nvidia drivers support Pascal GPUs on apple's OS despite the fact that anything newer than the 600 series has never been used by Apple.
When Nvidia was asked about it, their answer was because "it really wasn't that much of a trouble keeping up so we decided to keep releasing drivers"
So they keep releasing drivers just pretty much for the hackintosh nerds out there, I'd like to see AMD provide the same amount of support and involvement , let alone to such a small user case ;).

Apple will do it for them.
People associate Apple with good, and if Apple picks AMD, that's it for Intel.

It'd be hype if they went all in on Zen2 APUs for their laptops, but I think they're just making everything run its garbage phone OS.
If they decide on the former, then it'll be great with the claims they've made about the process.

Their garbage phone OS isn't any worse than their garbage desktop OS.
Using the MACH microkernel is eww.
If only if they ported it to seL4... it's not like Apple doesn't have the resources to do it.

Most major oil companies have more vertical integration doing everything from prospecting to distribution of refined products.

They're actually working on their own screen technology too. Small steps, user.

bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-02/apple-is-said-to-plan-move-from-intel-to-own-mac-chips-from-2020

>As part of the larger initiative to make Macs work more like iPhones, Apple is working on a new software platform, internally dubbed Marzipan, for release as early as this year that would allow users to run iPhone and iPad apps on Macs, Bloomberg News reported last year.

Babby's first computers. They're going to put slow ARMs everywhere, making Macs ever more overpriced/underpowered systems for faggots.

As said, that's unlikely.

Get a real computer fags

Attached: RE1FU5k.jpg (752x423, 66K)

It's funny because switching to x86 was literally the best move Apple did in the PC market.
They better move to ARM or else they will lose a gigantic portion of their software base.

is this part of Apple's idea of a modular computer (mac pro)?

They will emulate x86 for legacy apps, just like they emulated ppc and 68k in the past.
And again,

Apple used Nvidia as recently as the 2014 MacBook Pro 15" with the Geforce GT 750M

Year of Linux Desktop 2020?

Will apple buy Arm Holdings?
I think it's unlikely, but an amusing thought none the less

ARM Holdings doesn't exist. It was bought ages ago.

They're hiring a bunch of Linux kernel developers too

Why would they? The GPL doesn't allow them to keep their code under lock and key like the BSD license allows them. And when they're only writing OS X for a small sample of their own very specific hardware, they don't need the likes of support provided by the likes of the Linux kernel, so they don't need a bunch of Linux devs. For fuck sake, Jordan Hubbard was employed by Apple for 12 years. He headed up the Unix tech department.

The only reason they'd hire Linux devs would be simply to remove talent from the Kernel devel pool. Jobs tried to hire Linus. Going so far as to setup a meeting. He wanted Linus to work on the Mach kernel. Jobs tried to spin it to get Open Source behind Mac OS. Linus response amounted to "who cares if the kernel is open source, when the rest of the OS is not". It's in Linus book Just For Fun.

everyone speculating that apple will include ARM chips in their desktops is fucking retarded. they just rolled out the iMac pro, do you really think they're gonna switch that to ARM?

this board is full of ignorant teenagers, you are all fucking stupid

SoftBank already did that ages ago.

The united nations conference on trade and development says that 80% of trade is within TNCs.

Its pretty natural for TNCs, just like Apple, to do this.

Porting it to seL4 could solve some issues that MACH has, like the latency
Hell, I would love that macOS innards became a full blown microkernel
>inb4 le microkernels are slow maymay

>Porting it to seL4 could solve some issues that MACH has
It wouldn't be as simple as just "porting". They would need to develop an entire OS based around sel4 from scratch.

you're not very nice
