4K

Hardly any content. Most streaming is still at 720p, Xbox and PS4 really don't do 4K, did you buy into the 4K meme?

I have 1gbps internet, streaming is irrelevant when I can download an entire 50GB UHD movie in under 10 minutes.

I use a 42" 4k monitor as my primary computer display. secondary panel is a 25" 1440p panel.

i love watching people get scammed by memes.

Where do you live?

Also even if you don't watch any 4K media regularly, a single viewing of Lawrence of Arabia will make the purchase worth it

It's MUCH MUCH worse than that.

I don't think anyone will deny that 4:4:4 is obviously the best, but clamoring for something that will NEVER exist for consumers is just autism.

Pure and simple.

4:4:4 only exists at the studios or your own personal footage.

Whatever makes it's way to consumers is 4:2:0.

Sorry, but deal with it.

it upsamples nicely, plus it cost about the same as hdtv

stop whining

not this shit again

No shit you cock drizzle, which is why a 4K TV is even more pointless than it seems.

>"lumah hurrr durrr"

Attached: brainlettttt.jpg (200x200, 12K)

Oh, are you going to pretend again that 1080p 4:4:4 magically looks better than 4k 4:2:0?

Kill yourself

Except it does because all chroma samples for every pixel are there and don't have to be made up.

I sweat lumafags need to be round up and gassed.

Nigger, it looks better than 1080p 4:2:0 (a 1080p bluray). But it wont look better than 4k 4:2:0.

Even zoomed in 400% and the 4k will look better.

You realize you're literally the only one parroting this bullshit and at this point a good 5-10 people have called you out across a half dozen threads over the past few weeks.

Anyone who's a regular here is just ignoring your obvious bullshit.

How much is blu-ray©®™ paying you?

Eyeballs are more sensitive to luminance, than chromanance, sorry about nature.

Where did the 4k TV touch you?
What makes you so irrationally hate 4k?

Have you even tried real 4k? (no need to answer the obvious)

>personally promote sustainability by buying a biofuel car and driving on E85
>E85 gets included in a flat rate fuel tax raise

CANT WAIT FOR THE ELECTRIC CAR INDUSTRY CRASH TO HAPPEN ANY TIME SOONER

All my content supports 4:4:4, but I prefer actual RGB, the colors tend to be 10 times as accurate.

Just look at this screenshot from the video you posted. True 1080p (downscaled 4K) looks better than chroma-subsampled 1080p, but chroma subsampled 4K still beats both. You literally disproved your own argument.

Attached: file.png (1953x1077, 1.62M)

all video content is 4:2:0, even blu-ray trash

You're just chroma up-scaling that dogshit, literally making up 75% of chroma samples in the 4K res.

I can't see any difference. They all look the same to me. 4K and upscaling is a meme.

Attached: ChromaRes.png (1920x1080, 24K)

Chroma subsampling is not upscaling and you should get a pair of glasses if you can't see the difference.

If you can't see the difference there then you're being obtuse and showing you really have no argument.

Except it is you dumb fucks. 75% of chroma values are missing in each frame and must be made up on the fly.

On Jow Forums it's hard to make out the 4:4:4, but when I downloaded and opened in previewer, very visible. Why is this?

Not sure, looks identical for me in both. With hover zoom, and with expanding the image in the browser.

maybe it's because of Window's shitty DPI scaling.

>GUI scaling in windows

well yeah, that could be since windows is shit with GUI scaling.

It's literally the primary reason I opted for a 42" 4k instead of 28 or 32".

It's some kind of shitty bilinear filtered upscaling going on on hover preview.

Fucking cygwinx crashes when I try to do a DPI scale up from my WSL. Fixed by making all fonts bigger, but now I have tiny ass icons for pcmanfm/thunar and ungoogled chromium 64.

Most of that is fake 4k or shitty encoding with tons of artifacts.

>4k porn
It's a nice gesture, but the quality usually just isn't there.

Now when do we get this level of quality on broadcast TV?

I would actually watch sports if it were this quality.

>broadcast
>2009+9
Jesus christ man, what the fuck are you talking about? The last tech innovation for TV happened in 06 with HD, that's the end, no more.

Fine, then give me streaming options at similar quality.

I just want 45mbps+ bitrate on my media.

Never gonna happen m8.

>tfw enjoy 4K + Dolby Vision with Netflix on many series
>tfw enjoy 4K HDR blurays from PTP
I don't even have time to watch all this, so it seems like there is more content than you can actually consume.

I can see that quality happening in 5-10 years, but yeah, it's not gonna be in the next year or two.

>falling for the lowbitrate meme

Is PTP still mainly using Framestor UHD remuxes, or are they releasing their own?

>streaming
fucking pleb, I would not even watch streaming shitty quality even if it was free.

Absolutely not.
Providers are still charging extra money for fucking true HD in 2018.
4K is honestly probably never going to happen in open broadcast. The people that actually care about image quality are watching Blu Rays, the rest is using digital media or streams.

No one would pay an insane amount of money every month just so they can receive the 1000th rerun of Big Bang Theory in 4K.

ATSC 3.0 bitch nigga.

However, I don't see mainstream channels broadcasting at that standard, or TV's coming with 3.0 Tuners until maybe 2020.

Are you partially sighted?

lel fell for 4k meme.

There is little difference in price between 4k and full HD TVs these days, and on the rare occasion I do watch something in 4k on my 4k TV it looks stunning. But most of the time I'm watching HD or SD and that looks pretty good as well.

I would say OLED versus everything else is a far more interesting debate than 4k versus HD. Hoping I can upgrade to OLED within a few years, though DESU political correctness is destroying TV and film to the point where I can only watch older stuff.

>buy 4K tv in January
>costs a fraction of what a 1080p tv costs 5 years ago
>upscales fine and even comes with built in Netflix and YouTube apps

Shits fine

4k is more important for monitors than TVs; once you go to a hi-DPI display, you really don't ever want to go back.

Flexfuel wont look so bad if gas goes back to over 4 a gallon. Gas is too cheap for it to matter right now
