If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>NO R3 1200/1300X or R5 1400/1500X. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY THE R3 2200G AND R5 2400G
>G4560 - non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 2200G - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM) or for gaming WITHOUT a graphics card
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming (especially the i5 8400) or multithreaded use CPUs (especially the R5 1600)
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports

Graphics cards:
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>MSRP of standard 1080p cards: 1050Ti, 140USD; 1060 3GB, $200; 1060 6GB, $230; RX 570 4GB, $170; RX 580 4GB, $200
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
2160p (4K)
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor

i'll start

pcpartpicker.com/list/LKgfHh
1080p/60hz build

should i go for a cheap z370
are the WD m.2 SSD's any good
what are the cons of building in a cheap pre-built case as a sleeper

Get a SU800 256GB or a MX300 275GB, a 620 EVO, the cheaper MX330 and spend a little more on a B350-F Rog Strix (more power phases)

i need a build for gaming primarily that can handle 1080p 60fps comfortably and i need it to handle that for 3 years
my budget shouldn't exceed 1000$
can anyone help?

take a 1060 6gb, then go from there. ryzen 1600 or 8400

is the ryzen future proof meme real?
or is coffee lake just better?

find an i5, slam a gtx 970 in there, 8gb drrFAST and a mid range powersupply 750w.

current build should exceed that price. i havent messed with the newer processors

>pcpartpicker.com/list/LKgfHh
Wait the max turbo for an 8400 is only to 4 GHz. Get a 1600 and B350 board, should beat the shit out of it. Can overclock to similar frequency with higher IPC and hyperthreading and the mobo should be way cheaper.

Modern titles are starting to benefit from more than 3 GBs VRAM at 1080p. Might need to drop settings for a 970. Building around the 1060 6 GB makes sense.

If I was to start again with minimal funds, I'd go with an i7 Dell Optiplex SFF and get a low profile 1050ti. Or if I was to build I'd piece together an LGA1366 or 1150 rig, look for a cheap i7 or Xeon to suit and something like a 7970, 780Ti or 970 if you could find a reasonable priced one.
This is a great suggestion.

The K SKUs can do better at high fps gaming but require delidding to get the most out of them. They certainly don't beat Ryzen in price/performance and the 2700X after OC should greatly reduce the gap with the 8700K.

On one hand, EVGA has 1070s in stock.
On the other hand, they are 550 dollars

I'm biting the bullet, fuck these ram prices, though.

>DDR3

user that is DDR3.

I can't fit DDR4 in this glorious bastard.

Attached: s-l1600.jpg (1600x1200, 275K)

>AM3
Fuck that user instead build another computer with that money.

>AM3+
Absolute disgust.

Attached: Costanza7.png (388x587, 243K)

Hey. First time building a PC and I'm slightly pissed.
I don't know why my PC isn't turning on. I located the power switch cable with the help of "SQGeneral"but even then NOTHING turns on. What the fuck am I doing wrong?
And yes I flipped back switch.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-04-03-20-30-40.jpg (2560x1440, 1.56M)

Forgot to mention I'm using a AB350M Pro4 mobo with a Phanteks Eclipse P300 case. PSU should be able to handle the goofy shit I have.

Apart from the RAM, I got everything really cheaply for an extremely aging enthusiast platform.

Are you 100% sure that you connected the header cables correctly? Are the cpu and mobo psu cables properly inserted? Is there any activity at all when you press the power switch?

Doesn't matter how much you paid, its not worth it.

Could you post a photo of your CPU power cable(8pin) and your motherboard power cable (24pin)?

Well it's gonna have to be worth it, I got the brand new board off eBay for 100 back in late '16, but I didn't have a job then to get everything else, now I can afford things to upgrade from this laptop.

Attached: Ultra Durable.jpg (500x780, 147K)

Dude, I can't totally tell from the pic but please tell me you have the mobo standoffs installed. I can see a mounting point for one right there but it doesn't look like it's there.

Attached: Untitled.jpg (2560x1440, 459K)

Even the cheapest Ryzen CPU is way better than the best FX CPU by a huge amount.

Yeah I kinda regret buying an FX board when Ryzen was around the corner, but I'm gonna make the most of it, i really do like the board.

user a 2200G and a cheap Motherboard is $200 tops.

I like having the highest end board for a platform, stuff like 8 phase vrm matters to me because it runs cooler since the voltage is stepping down through more phases.

Also the 8350 is a $100 cpu

So is the 2200G and its better than the 8350.

I'm a phone poster. Prease undastand.
Standoffs? Theres sadly no holes on the case to screw them on. I got four places secured though.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-04-03-21-03-12.jpg (1440x2004, 1.21M)

Dammit user, look i'll get the enthusiast X370 platform when Ryzen gets into a refreshed stage like Piledriver was.

Standoffs are supposed to go between the case and the motherboard.

Yeah but you will have to rebuy RAM so its more wasted money.

I'll resell the FX stuff at a reasonable price on eBay later, or I'll just run it until it gets unusable or straight up breaks like my old phenom rig.

Looking for a passive heatsink for a R3 2200G build. Is there a good heatsink designed for this or do I just remove the fan off a hyper 212?

As long as you have them it doesn't matter. If you're positive everything is connected and it's still not working then unplug the header cable for "PWRBTN" and touch a screwdriver or something metal to the two pins. That will figure out if it's the case.

Okay. On the PSU side I have the 24pin connnected (which WONT FUCKING COME OUT) and an additional un connected 10 . Should it be connected to the PSU?

Fuck. I don't think I have anything of the sort on me at the moment.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-04-03-21-11-50.jpg (1440x801, 420K)

The B350-F Rog Strix has 8 power phases and is $100, look for the cheapest 2666MHz (at least, 3200MHz is optimal) dual channel kit. I'd save the 990FX for a backup PC or sell it later

I've seen a lot of debate about this, and since I'm finally starting my build, I figured I'd ask: What's the best brand of HDD to buy? I done a lot of research and all of them seem to have problems.

Attached: 1520306109778.png (540x432, 133K)

So I'm gonna be getting a new graphics card and I'm trying to figure out if it'll fit well
Here's the size of my current card
>242 x 111 x 35 mm
And here's the size of the card I might be getting
>279 x 140 x 42 mm

I'm the worst person when it comes to measurements so I'm honestly not sure if I'm ok or not pic is in my PC.

Attached: IMG_20180404_000929198~01.jpg (1920x1080, 492K)

Just post a Photo if your PSU cables.

look up your case online and it should tell you the max gpu length

>It's actually $100
Fuck my life, it's not the X370 chipset but it's really cool.

Just get a 2TB Barracuda for $50, pham.

WD HDDs, HGST too.
Avoid Seagate HDDs.

Fucking what? You're confusing the shit outta me. The side of the 24 pin connector that goes into the motherboard should be one solid piece. The other side of the 24 pin connector that goes to the PSU should be 2 pieces but the both have to be plugged in.

Attached: Untitled.jpg (696x564, 40K)

Problem is I don't know what kind of case I have...

I imagine this is your PSU motherboard power cable.

He is using one of those 10+18 to 24Pin power cables that come with Corsair and Seasonic PSUs for sure, Pic related.

Attached: 1810-24.jpg (3264x2448, 2.09M)

If this is your PSU you need those 2 Connected.

Attached: 0029.jpg (800x800, 158K)

Just measure it yourself user its not that hard.

>Fuck. I don't think I have anything of the sort on me at the moment.
They look like this, they should come with your case screws.

Attached: MaleFemaleStandoff.jpg (400x300, 20K)

IT WORKED. Only the case fan won't run but I can figure it out.
Thanks a lot dudes.

Yeah I would have gotten it with a 1500x but my budget took a hit and I settled for the Prime B350-Plus and a 1200 (before the release of 2200g/2400g)

Did you connect the fan to your motherboard CHA_FAN slot?
I assume its your frontal fan because here you can see the fan is not connected.
Anyway i assume you know how install windows, drivers and other stuff or would you like help with that too?

Thanks for the input anons, I'll probably get a WD.

Got it!

Thanks a lot dudes. I hope to see you soon in the other threads

Just a recommendation, install Windows 10 LTSB in GPT mode if you want the best experience.
Also disable windows Telemetry using Group policy and Windows defender.
Also disable updates or make them manual, automatic updates are really annoying.

Anyone know where I can find the specs for a cyberpower cooler master like pic.

Attached: 9800d8c8-8168-4822-b46b-976657877299_1.76201f0868eea71d925514a058ddfd11.jpg (450x450, 32K)

Which model.

google cooler master cyberpower and find the case that looks like yours

It's says model C series on the side so I'm guessing that's it.

That's the Elite 431 plus.

That's what I did but for some reason I can't seem to find the specs

>Buying Prebuilts
Just build your own PC.

So for a gtx 1070 would a 24-27 inch 144hz, 1080 monitor work alright? I'm only using it for gaming and watching movies.

Wait if you want the real model, that's a GUA880, with a GT610 and FX4300.

Not at full settings but it will work.

Thanks it seems like it'll be able to fit a >279 x 140 x 42 mm size graphics card after all.

What monitor specs would you recommend?

must just be retarded then i found it right away

My old video card died, I need to buy a replacement. I just need a card that can run 2 monitors (1920x1080 and 1280x1024). I just need it for school and everyday use, Only thing I play is classic/tbc wow.

>Cheapest option
GT 1030.

Do these builds look okay? I trust him more than Linus but I still don't know enough

youtu.be/QBVKRVX8crM

Attached: 1495590563898.jpg (625x899, 362K)

Linus is not great at building computers.
Also prices change daily.

What would be a good Power supply to go with this graphics card?

>m.newegg.com/products/N82E16814127950

EVGA 750W Supernova, Any seasonic PSU 750W+.

as soon as any of you get a ryzen 2 build couuld you please run the kill-ryzen to see if they fixed it?
there are rediturds in chile that got theirs

That's what I was figured from what I was looking up

What do I do when neither VGA or HDMI cables display nothing on screen?

GPU or iGPU?

>kill-ryzen
what is this?

It's a GTX1060

Is the computer turning on?
Is the GPU turning on?

encrypted.google.com/search?q=kill-ryzen

Everything is on and spinning.

Since this is my first time turning it on, must I reset the Cosmo?

You dont exactly need to.
But if its not turning on its for something.
Could you post a picture of your case?
Your build has a iGPU or not?

fuck yourself

Made some progress today

help Jow Forums

i recently built a new computer and started playing fallout 4. i maxed out the settings and i would be able to play for a bit (a minute to an hour) and then the screen would go black and i can't do anything but restart. when the screen goes black, sometimes all the fans start spinnning at maximum speed. i checked the gpu temps and it gets to at most 70C. i am pretty sure it is either the gpu or the game having bugs. what do you think? can a game cause my video driver to unrecoverably crash like this?

gpu: gigabyte windforce oc geforce 1060 6gb

Try another game first.

I need some Monitor Recommendations
It's for my gaming rig but I'll probably only go to 1080p so I'm trying to force more on response time and hertz
And I'll be using an Nvidia card so if it has g sync or whatever that's a plus

i don't have any other game as intensive as fallout 4.

Pirate GTA V?
fitgirl-repacks.site/grand-theft-auto-v/

Like this? Also my CPU is a Ryzen 5 1600, so no iGPU.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-04-03-23-55-03.jpg (2254x1440, 1.51M)

yeah i was gonna buy that game anyway.

Alternatively you could benchmark, download either FurMark or Heaven Benchmark and see if it causes the same problem
