You can convince a group of privacy-conscious memelords to move off of Google either, but that's not going to suddenly make a bunch of content available on PornHub's competing service, and the vast majority of people are going to stay with Youtube because of that.

They would be seperate branches of the same company. One would have a normie person name and the other would be the normal Pornhub. If anything Pornhub is actually the closest thing to a viable rival to Youtube because they can actually turn a profit from their video service. Youtube has always run in the red according to most articles I've seen. Google props it up via their advertisement and data collection.

the only thing that keeps youtube afloat is the advertisers willing to play ball with them and keep them afloat. If pornub (or MindGeek, which owns like 70% of all porn streaming sites) could somehow get major advertisers on-board with an "all ages" streaming site separate from their porn sites it could really give YouTube a run for their money. They have the infrastructure to compete (which is the biggest detriment for smaller sites like Vimeo, Liveleak, DailyMotion and vid.me) right out of the gate. But the biggest problem is drawing new users, and more importantly content generators.

The thing is most users won't be put off by visiting a "youtube" clone created by pornhub, in fact they might switch over just for the novelty. But the creators are a different story. They won't make the switch unless they can easily match their monetization from YouTube on the new platform, and they can't do that without the promise of big advertisers working with them. Plus there's also the issue of "splintering" their fanbases between sites and having to establish a new userbase all over again (which effectively undercuts every advantage that YouTube currently offers them, even with their retarded "invisible" guidelines that only exist internally at YouTube.

Not at all. What keeps YT afloat is Google's deep, deep pockets. YouTube straight up lost money every year up to 2015 or so. The cost of keeping YT running was supposedly a big, if not the biggest, reason why the founders sold the company so early -- in 2006. If it had been an independent company, it would have been buried in debt by now and it would take many, many years to pay that debt off. Owning YouTube is most likely still a net loss for Google in $$$, but a huge win in influence and projected profits. They keep it around because they can afford to think long-term.
